Mt. Harmony Baptist Church on Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, Georgia, is known for relaxed Sunday worship, LifeGroups, and a long-running weekday early education school. Its mission is to connect and resource people and families through evangelism and discipleship, with four outward emphases: love God, love others, serve the community, and reach the world.
Sunday LifeGroups at 9:15 and Worship at 10:30
Sunday begins with LifeGroups at 9:15 AM, followed by worship at 10:30 AM. Adults and students meet in small groups for Bible study, and children from birth through fifth grade have their own lessons at both times. A weekly prayer gathering also precedes the 10:30 service. The church is at 561 Veterans Memorial Highway SE in Mableton, and its relaxed worship environment is designed to help people connect with Jesus in a deeper, personal way. Friendly greeters welcome newcomers and can help them find their way around the campus.
Worship messages are relevant and relatable, linking the truth of Scripture with everyday life. The atmosphere is intentionally relaxed and welcoming, and Mt. Harmony invites people to worship in person or online whether they are single, newly married, in a young or middle-age family, empty nesters, or retired. Its posture toward newcomers is simple: come as you are. That message extends to students, whose groups are relational settings with seasoned adults ready to help them grow in faith. Sunday worship is also available through the church's YouTube livestream.
Children's classes are a major part of the Sunday rhythm. Birth through fifth grade meets at both 9:15 and 10:30, with engaging Bible lessons designed to connect children with God. Every adult who works with minors has successfully passed a background check, a screening process, and abuse prevention and awareness training. These safety standards support both the children's and student ministries.
Parking for Sunday Gatherings
- If children or teenagers are with your family, use the West and Northwest parking lots and enter through the main doors on the west side of the building.
- Without children or teenagers, the Southeast and Southwest lots beside the Worship Center are the designated choices. For the 10:30 service, use the main doors along Veterans Memorial Highway.
Circles Better Than Rows
At Mt. Harmony, community is not an optional add-on to faith. The church teaches that God exists in a holy, eternal relationship as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and that people are created in the image of God. For the believer, the primary relationship is with Jesus, followed by relationship with other people. LifeGroups are the environment for that community: smaller circles where people can know and be known, friendships can flourish, and faith becomes transformation rather than simply information. The church's memorable phrase is that circles are better than rows.
Student LifeGroups meet at 9:15 every Sunday for relevant Bible study in small groups with adults who care. Middle school and high school students are intentionally placed in relational settings where seasoned adults can help them grow. Adult LifeGroups also meet during the same 9:15 hour, and the congregation gathers for prayer before worship each week. LifeGroups are not presented as spectator gatherings; they are the recurring place where faith, friendship, and change meet.
Adult groups are not framed as isolated departments or stages. The church emphasizes that people are made for community and says that everyone belongs and matters, whether single, newly married, in a young or median-age family, an empty nester, or retired. The emphasis on transformation over information gives these weekly circles a clear purpose: moving from head knowledge toward relationships and the life described in their faith.
WEE School Has Served Children Since 2001
The Weekday Early Education school, called WEE, has a history stretching back more than 30 years. It began in 2001 as a Mother's Morning Out program and grew into a preschool for children ages one through kindergarten. Families may choose two days per week or a full five-day schedule, depending on the child's age. The school runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and follows the Cobb County school calendar, connecting the program to the rhythm of the public-school year.
Classes are structured by age. Kindergarten meets five days a week; K4, three-year-old, and two-year-old classes meet four days; the one-year-old class meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The age-appropriate curriculum focuses on the whole child and includes chapel, art, and music education. The goal is to partner with parents in both academic growth and personal development, while building a supportive community for children, parents, and educators.
The WEE faculty brings experience in early childhood education, classroom leadership, administration, music, and movement. One leader holds a master's degree in Early Childhood Education with a leadership endorsement and more than 12 years of teaching and administrative experience. The staff also includes a CDA, educators with special-education experience, and a teacher who has worked in every age group since the program's beginnings. That range of experience supports the school's emphasis on age-appropriate learning and a partnership between teachers and families.
After the core school day, enrichment classes add approximately 45 minutes to an hour. The weekly pattern includes martial arts on Monday, Jitterbug Performing Arts on Tuesday, gymnastics on Wednesday, and Way to Play Sports on Thursday. Programs run in semesters of about eight, 10, or 12 weeks during fall and spring. Early care and drop-in care are also available for families with changing schedules; drop-in care requires 24 hours' notice.
From Mableton to the World
Mt. Harmony's mission describes the church as a catalyst for connecting and resourcing people and families through evangelism and discipleship to impact Mableton, Cobb County, and the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The church's missions work understands mission as sharing the gospel in word and deed with anyone who needs compassion, whether a neighbor lives next door or across the world.
Participation begins with prayer, then extends to giving and going. Tithes and offerings support the church's expenses and ministries, including utilities, improvements, staffing, community engagement, and local schools. Mt. Harmony also participates in the Annie Armstrong offering for national missions and the Lottie Moon offering for international missions, supporting Southern Baptist Convention missionaries in the nation and worldwide. The church puts its sending priority plainly: seating capacity matters less than sending capacity.
Gifts can be made through the church's online giving form, during worship, by mail, or at the church office from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday. Separate online options handle WEE registration and tuition. These practical routes support both congregational life and the church's wider mission.
Jesus at the Center of Its Confession
Mt. Harmony's beliefs begin with unity rather than uniformity. The church embraces diversity in ethnicity, personal conviction, and generation while holding that Christ is the head of the church. Its governing words are 'in essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things glory to God alone,' followed by 'Soli Deo Gloria.' The church confesses one living and true God, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: distinct in person but without division in nature, essence, or being.
Jesus is affirmed as the eternal Son of God and fully God and fully man. His incarnation, sinless life, substitutionary death on the cross, resurrection, ascension, and return are central to the church's confession, with Jesus serving as the one mediator between God and humanity. The Holy Spirit is affirmed as fully divine, the one who inspired Scripture, illuminates truth, convicts concerning sin, brings regeneration, cultivates Christian character, and empowers the church for worship, evangelism, and service.
Salvation is described as the redemption of the whole person, offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, with no salvation apart from personal faith in him. Its stages include regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. Regeneration is God's work of grace through the Spirit's conviction, to which the person responds with repentance and faith; justification brings peace and favor with God; sanctification is growth in grace and moral and spiritual maturity; glorification is the final state of the redeemed.
Christian baptism is defined as immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The church describes it as a symbolic testimony to faith in Christ's death, burial, and resurrection and as an ordinance that is a prerequisite to the privileges of membership and the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience in which church members remember the Redeemer's death through the bread and fruit of the vine and anticipate his return. The church also holds that family is foundational: marriage is a lifetime covenant between one man and one woman, and children are a blessing and heritage from the Lord whose parents are to teach spiritual and moral values.
Values That Shape Ministry and Worship
Mt. Harmony's values give the church's outward activity a clear theological shape. Everything begins and ends with Jesus. Every person is treated as significant, with love for their potential and a desire to see each one live out their calling. The church calls for God-sized dreams put into real action, rejects small thinking and safe living, and celebrates the processes that build healthy people and healthy ministries. Authentic change is expected to happen in relationships, which is why circles remain central. Giving one's best is treated as the fitting response to God's gift, and church members are described not as consumers but as contributors who exist for the world.
Worship at Mt. Harmony is understood as far broader than music. It includes singing but also shapes the way people relate as spouses, parents, friends, employees, employers, bosses, and coaches. The worship ministry includes a Praise Team, Praise Band, and Worship Choir. Nelson Fleming serves as the contact for people interested in joining or learning more about these opportunities. Music is one expression of a larger life of worship rooted in the character and work of God.
Together, the Sunday gatherings, LifeGroups, WEE School, worship ministry, and missions work express one of Mt. Harmony's simplest refrains: love God, love others, serve the community, and reach the world. The church's life is anchored at 561 Veterans Memorial Highway SE in Mableton, with LifeGroups at 9:15 AM and worship at 10:30 AM each Sunday.
