Faith Baptist Church in Monroe: Two Sunday Services, Special-Needs Ministry, and Global Missions

Baptist Church in Monroe, Georgia

Faith Baptist Church in Monroe, Georgia runs two simultaneous Sunday services, an extensive special-needs ministry with a Deaf Ministry, and missions from Walton County to the world.

About Faith Baptist Church

Two Sunday Morning Gatherings

At 10:45 a.m. each Sunday, Faith Monroe offers two ways to worship. The Worship Center hosts the live service, with a praise and worship band leading congregational singing and a pastor delivering the message. The service runs about an hour. Across the building, the Chapel holds a video broadcast of the same service, giving those who prefer a quieter setting a community experience of the livestream. Both services run simultaneously at the same start time.

For those who want to dig deeper before the service, Sunday School and Bible study classes meet at 9:30 a.m. Students in grades 6 through 12 gather in the Family Life Center for their own Bible study. A separate Sunday morning Bible study for college-aged and young professionals meets in the education wing at the same time.

A Place for Every Child

Faith Monroe takes children's ministry seriously. The Children's Building houses Sunday School classes for children from birth through fifth grade, with separate age-appropriate rooms and a staffed check-in desk. Parents receive nametags for their children and a matching security tag for pickup. Check-in opens fifteen minutes before each class or service.

During the 10:45 worship hour, Children's Worship is offered in the Children's Building for ages birth through fourth grade. For parents who would rather keep children with them, coloring sheets and a worship bulletin are available, and a Nursing Room sits in the Family Life Center for nursing mothers and small children. The nursery suite has three age-appropriate rooms where children hear Bible stories, worship, and play. Parents are asked to bring a labeled diaper bag with cups and bottles.

Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. add another hour of activities, including missions education and Bible skills games for kindergarten through fifth grade. Classroom teachers build relationships with children, helping guide them toward a relationship with Jesus.

Volunteers in the children's area undergo background checks and training. Doors are secured during services and a security team member is present in the Children's Building. Parents are asked not to send toys their child would not want to share, though comfort items are welcome and stored safely.

Students, College, and Young Professionals

Students in sixth through twelfth grade have two weekly touchpoints. Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. they meet for Bible study in the Family Life Center. Wednesday nights at 6:45 p.m. they gather for a midweek Bible study designed for their age group.

The College and Young Professionals ministry also meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the education wing for fellowship and Bible study, with greeters on hand to direct newcomers.

Faith Women Across the Week

Faith Women serves women of all ages through Bible study, retreats, and gatherings. Weekly Bible studies run on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m. The second Thursday of each month brings a broader women's meeting at 6:30 p.m., with Bible study, games, and a shared finger-food meal. Each fall the ministry hosts a retreat at the Pinnacle Retreat Center, and the annual Ladies Tea fills the church with decorated tea tables and a featured speaker.

Men of Faith

Men's Ministry at Faith Monroe centers on fellowship and service. The men gather for breakfast, prayer, and a short devotion on the third Sunday of each month. Thursday nights bring "Man Cave," a Bible study and fellowship time hosted in a barn and led by Cole Runyon. Each year the men also travel to Kentucky for a mission trip, where they build handicap ramps, construct living facilities, and improve conditions for people who cannot do the work themselves. Men's Director Steve Yancey helps organize these efforts.

Including Every Ability

Faith Monroe has built a special-needs ministry around the belief that there is a place for everyone to gather. The Deaf Ministry provides interpreters for Sunday morning services, special events, and classes; interpreter requests go through Tami Burt at the Bridge of Georgia. The Senses and Safety program offers trained shadows for children and teens who need support in classrooms and worship services. A sensory room and sensory tools such as headphones, fidgets, and cushions are available, and a medical professional is on site during all services. Stone Soup is a separate evening for children with special needs and their siblings, packed with crafts, games, skits, and music.

S.K.I.T.: Seniors Keeping In Touch

Senior adults have their own gathering. S.K.I.T., short for Seniors Keeping In Touch, meets every other month for opportunities to serve and fellowship with one another. Outings and shared meals take the group beyond the church walls.

Connection Groups and the Wednesday Night Hub

Small groups form the connective tissue of the church. Faith Monroe hosts on-campus and off-campus Bible study groups, welcoming both newcomers and longtime readers of Scripture. Wednesday night is a major hub at the church building, with student ministry at 6:45 p.m., children's activities and ladies Bible study at 7:00 p.m., and other classes layered through the evening. For those wanting to take a first step, Plan Your Visit walks newcomers through what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Missions Close to Home and Far Away

Mission work is organized in three tiers. In Georgia, Faith Monroe partners with the Georgia Baptist Mission Board and Mission Georgia, and supports local ministries including the Pregnancy Crisis Center of Walton, the Christian Learning Center, F.I.S.H., Park Place Nursing and Rehab, and Damascus Road Recovery. Across North America, the church supports the North American Mission Board, sends the men's team to Kentucky each year, and connects with Appalachian Backpacks. Globally, Faith Monroe stands with the International Mission Board and participates in Operation Christmas Child.

What Faith Monroe Believes

The church holds to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Visitors who want to explore faith can take a "Next Steps" path that walks through meeting Jesus, being baptized by full immersion, and connecting to the church family. The church frames becoming a follower in three movements drawn from passages in Romans, Luke, Acts, and John: admit your need for God, believe in Jesus's death and resurrection, and commit your life to Christ as Lord and Savior. Baptism is described as a public declaration of faith, performed in warm water, and open to every follower of Jesus.

Pastoral Leadership

Senior Pastor Joe Marsh moved into the lead role in January 2025 after two years on staff, having served in ministry alongside his wife Jodie for more than twenty years. The Marsh family includes six children, and their background in foster care shapes the church's heart for families and service. Logan Ferrell serves as the Student and Media pastor. Together with ministry directors across children, students, women, men, special needs, and seniors, they shepherd a congregation that gathers, studies, and serves across Walton County and beyond.
