About Crosspointe Community Church

A Journey of the Heart on Highway 92

In a three-story office building at 77 East Crossville Road, on the corner of Highway 92 and Crabapple Road in Roswell, Georgia, Crosspointe Community Church has been gathering people for what the congregation calls "a journey of the heart" since the fall of 1990. The church was planted by Mike and Felicia Deese, who felt called to build a community where the Bible's teaching was practical, transforming, and relevant. What began as a Sunday morning service at Roswell High School became, by April 1992, the congregation now known across North Fulton County simply as CCC.

From the start, the Deeses wanted Crosspointe to be a representative of God's love and grace. They soon discovered that the journey itself was even more transforming than they had imagined. "God is not interested in seeing people merely informed," the church writes; "He wants people to be transformed through a genuine relationship with Him." More than three decades later, that conviction still shapes everything from Sunday worship to small groups and global partnerships.

The HEART: Hope, Excitement, Acceptance, Relevance, Transformation

The five core values of Crosspointe spell out an acronym, HEART, that the church returns to again and again. Hope comes first, because the church sees many people in North Fulton who have lost hope in their relationships, jobs, education, in God, or in being forgiven. "Crosspointe is a church where people experience and express the hope of God and His forgiveness, comfort, healing, and joy."

Excitement is the second letter. "Nothing compares with a church that functions as God designed it." Acceptance follows, and the church distinguishes it from mere tolerance; at Crosspointe, members and visitors find a place where they are valued and loved for who they are. Relevance, the fourth letter, is about applying the timeless truth of God to "the matters at hand in people's lives." Transformation closes the acronym. Behavior modification is not Christ's chief concern, the church teaches, but a changed heart is, and that change comes through an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and His family.

One Sunday Morning Service in Roswell

Visitors to Crosspointe find one weekly worship service each Sunday morning at 11 a.m., held in the main level of the Highway 92 building. The service runs about an hour and includes worship, prayer, and Bible teaching. The Music Ministry leads a contemporary worship band with vocalists, guitarists, keyboardists, and a drummer, playing a blend of modern and classic praise songs as well as hymns.

Those who want to settle in before the service are encouraged to arrive at 10:45 a.m. for coffee and fellowship. Parking is available at the front, side, and rear of the building, with visitor spots near the front door. Handicapped parking is located at the front and rear, and the building has identical entrances at the front and rear but no entrances on the sides.

Dress is casual; the church says that "Some of us wear our Sunday best while others are dressed more relaxed. Come as you are, and you'll fit in." Tithing is treated as a form of worship intended for members and regular attenders, not for guests. The Greeter Ministry Team is on hand to make first-time visitors feel accepted and informed.

The Pointe: A Place for Every Age

The student ministry at Crosspointe is called The Pointe, and it serves everyone from infants to high schoolers in four age-specific groups, each one named after a different kind of Pointe. All four meet during the Sunday morning schedule so that families with children of different ages can attend the same service.

Harbor Pointe is the nursery on the first floor, open at both 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunshine Pointe serves preschoolers on the third floor at the same two times. Sailboat Pointe is for elementary-age students, meeting at 11 a.m. on the third floor. Lighthouse Pointe gathers middle and high schoolers at 11 a.m., also on the third floor. The Pointe's leaders are Gospel-focused members of the church who pass background checks, share the church's core values, and love both kids and Jesus.

Tammy Minear coordinates The Pointe, with Kelly Wilson leading the youth (Lighthouse Pointe) side of the ministry. Parents can drop their children off before the 11 a.m. service knowing their kids will be in care until they personally pick them up. The Pointe's purpose is to help students develop and nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, growing through learning, fellowship, and age-appropriate exploration of the Gospel.

Life Groups Around Roswell and North Fulton

At 9:30 a.m. each Sunday, the church's Life Groups for adults meet, including a co-ed group that gathers on the second floor of the Highway 92 building. Crosspointe describes Life Groups as the relational core of the church: "This ministry exists to connect people relationally for the purpose of growing in Christ-likeness, caring for one another, and fostering an environment for life change." Beyond Sunday morning, additional groups meet throughout the week in the mornings, evenings, and on weekends.

Women's groups gather throughout the week to discuss the Bible and how its value applies to their everyday lives, offering prayer and lifelong relationships through the challenges of life. The men's ministry is called The Herd, an unusual name taken from the well-known Battle of Kruger video. The Herd meets periodically for fellowship breakfasts, work days around the church building, service opportunities, retreats, and conferences. Its purpose is to gather men to grow closer to Jesus, help others, and increase accountability. "Without healthy outlets and relationships to turn to, we are like that poor water buffalo isolated from his herd, soon becoming dinner for a prowling lion," the church writes.

Core Classes: Membership, Maturity, and Ministry

For those who want to grow deeper into the life of the church, Crosspointe offers a three-part curriculum called Core Classes. Class 101, "The Heart of Membership," is required for anyone wanting to become a member. Senior Pastor Mike Deese leads the class, covering the purpose, mission, vision, strategy, and structure of the church, along with Crosspointe's commitments to Christ, to the church body, to service, and to the community.

Class 201, "The Heart of Maturity," focuses on four habits every Christian needs to grow to spiritual maturity, including establishing a daily quiet time, revitalizing prayer, and honoring God through giving. Class 301, "The Heart of Ministry," walks students through the S.H.A.P.E. assessment of spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences, so that each person can discover the ministry areas God has shaped them for. Those interested in taking the classes can contact the church for the next scheduled sessions.

What We Believe

Crosspointe's Statement of Faith is unusually thorough. The church believes in one true, holy God eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - each possessing equally the attributes of deity. Jesus Christ, the eternal second Person of the Trinity, was miraculously conceived and born of a virgin, lived a life of perfect obedience, and voluntarily atoned for the sins of all by dying on the cross as their substitute. He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of the Father as the only mediator between God and humanity. He will come again personally and visibly to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

The Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, is essential to a genuine saving relationship with Jesus Christ. He permanently indwells every believer at salvation, becoming the source of assurance, strength, and wisdom, and uniquely endowing each believer with gifts for the up-building of the body. The Bible, composed of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the sole basis of the church's belief. Scripture is infallible, expressing truth without any mixture of error, and is the unique, full, and final authority on all matters of faith and practice.

Crosspointe teaches that mankind was created in the image of God but became alienated from Him through disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Salvation is wholly a work of God's free grace and must be personally appropriated by repentance and faith. Eternal life begins the moment a person receives Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity, since it is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by self-effort. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence, and the church universal is made up of all who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, gathering locally under the watch care of elders.

The Pastors and Leaders

Mike Deese is the founding and Senior Pastor of Crosspointe Community Church. A native of Alabama, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Auburn University, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and additional studies in Church Growth and Health from Fuller Theological Seminary. Before planting Crosspointe, he served seven years as a senior pastor in Fort Worth, Texas. Mike and Felicia have six adult children and two granddaughters. Mike has coached youth sports, served as Roswell High School's team chaplain, and currently serves as chaplain at two local companies, Thrive and Hope Industrial Systems.

Aaron Miller is the Associate Pastor. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, he and his wife Stephanie met as counselors at Camp Grace in Roberta, Georgia, and later served six years as youth pastors in Northern Virginia before joining the Crosspointe staff. Aaron assists Pastor Mike in planning sermon series, discipling members, and overseeing benevolence. He attended the Atlanta School of Ministry from 2010 to 2013.

Tammy Minear serves as Children and Family Life Minister. The church's support team includes Michelle Meadows as Pastoral Assistant, Sarah Samples as Connections Coordinator, and Ana Bori as Financial and Facilities Coordinator. Four elders provide additional spiritual oversight: Doug Bailey, Steve Meadows, Frank Minear, and Kelly Wilson.

Global and Local Partners Across North Fulton and the World

Crosspointe supports a wide network of ministries, both near and far. Locally, the church partners with North Fulton Community Charities, an organization that builds self-sufficiency and prevents homelessness and hunger by providing emergency assistance and enrichment programs. Crosspointe members help by donating dry goods and groceries to families in need. The church also partners with HomeStretch, a nonprofit serving families experiencing homelessness in the area, and with No Longer Bound, which rescues addicts, regenerates men, and reconciles families. The Hope Center shares hope and life-affirming options with women and men facing pregnancy decisions.

Among Spanish-speaking neighbors in North Fulton, Crosspointe supports the ministry of Jack Jones, pastor of Iglesia Comunidad Cristiana. Farther afield, the church partners with Camp Grace, which transforms underserved youth through week-long overnight camps in Roberta, Georgia; 60 Feet, which ministers to children orphaned, abandoned, and imprisoned in Uganda; Connect Missions, which helps churches go and make disciples; and Cross Fellowship Church in Kampala, Uganda, which works to make mature and multiplying disciples of Jesus. The church also points members toward Community Bible Study, an organization that provides in-depth Bible study in communities across the United States and around the world.

Prayer and the Work of the Body

Prayer is woven into the life of Crosspointe in three regular rhythms. On Wednesday evenings at 8:30 p.m., a dedicated prayer time meets via Zoom. On Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m., the church prays during the worship service itself. Anyone can also submit a prayer request through the church's online prayer page; the church keeps each request confidential to those the requester wants to pray for them. The Prayer Ministry Team supports individual needs, church events and attendees, other churches in the community, mission workers, and local, national, and world events.

Beyond prayer, members serve through one of several ministry teams. The Audio-Visual Ministry supports the worship service with sound, lighting, and graphic presentations. The Benevolence Ministry extends the love and compassion of Christ through the provision of food, clothing, and shelter to those in need. The Hospitality Ministry coordinates events that promote fellowship. The Clean Team, with a minimal two-times-per-month commitment, keeps the core areas of the building tidy. The Greeters welcome everyone at the door. The Digital Communications Team keeps the church's online presence dynamic. The Music Ministry requires prior vocal or instrumental experience along with an open attitude toward continued growth. Volunteering in The Pointe usually requires experience in education or childcare.
