A Church on Siler City Glendon Road
Tyson's Creek Baptist Church stands along Siler City Glendon Road in Bear Creek, a small community in Chatham County, North Carolina. The congregation gathers around the purpose of making disciples of Jesus Christ who "mature, minister, and multiply for the glory of God." Whether someone has attended church for decades or is stepping through the doors for the first time, the church extends the same simple welcome: "You are welcome here."
Sunday Worship and Wednesday Bible Study
Sunday mornings at 9:30 are set aside for Morning Worship, and the rest of the week centers on growing in the word. Wednesday evenings bring the church back together at 6:30 for Bible Study. Both are held on the church campus at 10891 Siler City Glendon Road, which also serves as the mailing address for tithes and offerings. Visitors are invited to attend either gathering, and the church's doors remain open to anyone who wishes to join a ministry or service.
What Tyson's Creek Believes
The church teaches that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible, and sufficient word of God. Each week the congregation meets to exalt Jesus Christ, to be equipped for ministry through Scripture, to encourage the family of God, and to engage the surrounding culture with the gospel of salvation by God's grace through faith in Jesus. The conviction that every person is created by God to know and love Him forever sits at the heart of the church's outreach.
Pastor Scott Walker and the Staff
Scott Walker has served as pastor of Tyson's Creek since April 2009. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and carries a deep passion to see lives transformed by the Holy Spirit through the word of God. He and his wife Sherry have been married since 1994 and have a daughter, Kylie, and a son, Nehemiah.
Bradley Kidd has been the church's Minister of Youth since 2006. He and his wife Holly have a son, Easton, and a daughter, Brynn, and both share a passion to see students put their faith in Jesus. Bradley also serves on the Executive Committee of the Sandy Creek Baptist Association for youth ministry, and he teaches high school agriculture at Union Pines High School in nearby Cameron.
Deborah Wood serves as Ministry Administrator, overseeing the day-to-day work of the church office. She and her husband Kerry, who pastors Goldston Methodist Church, moved to Chatham County in late 2022 after what they describe as a Holy Spirit-led call. The position of Minister of Music is currently being filled.
Youth, a Monthly Fellowship Group, and Monday Morning Breakfast
Youth ministry is for students in grades 7 through 12 and meets in the upstairs classroom of the FLC, or Family Life Center. A separate group of more than 60 people gathers monthly for a meal, Christian fellowship, and occasional special outings together. Men meet on Monday mornings at 6:30 in Fellowship Hall for breakfast, food, and fellowship.
Benevolence, Giving, and a Warm Welcome
The church maintains a benevolence ministry to assist those in need within the community. Tithes can be given online through Tithe.ly or mailed to the church office at 10891 Siler City Glendon Road, Bear Creek, NC 27207. Sermon videos are posted online for those who cannot attend in person, and church facilities can be reserved through the church office.
