Sundays at Springboro Baptist
Springboro Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist congregation on East Mill Street in Springboro, Ohio, a Warren County city south of Dayton. The church's stated mission, repeated across its materials, is "encouraging others to know, love, and share Jesus Christ." Two Sunday morning services fill the auditorium at 9 AM and 10:30 AM. Guests are greeted at the door by a first impressions team and pointed toward a free coffee bar in the lobby; newcomers who complete a Connect form online are followed up personally during the week.
The atmosphere is described by the church itself as a "laid-back welcoming space where you can meet new people and find a little inspiration." The order of service features contemporary worship led by the SBC Worship team (songs such as "Build My Life," "What a Beautiful Name," "Firm Foundation," "Glorious Day," "Great Are You Lord," and "Forever Reign") followed by Scripture-centered teaching. The church organizes its preaching into teaching series that unfold over multiple weeks and span both books of the Bible and topical studies; past runs have taken the congregation through Hebrews ("Jesus Is Greater"), an examination of anxiety and anger, marriage and dating, and Christian leadership. Every service is livestreamed, the audio is published as a podcast, and an extensive archive of past messages is available on YouTube.
Children at 10 AM and a Gym as Backup
While adults settle into the second service, children meet their own team at 10 AM. WeeKidZone serves babies through kindergarten with trained and background-checked volunteers who walk them through Bible stories, crafts, and small group activities. First through fifth graders meet separately for live teaching, high-energy worship songs, and small group discussion. The church also operates an indoor playground in the WeeKidZone hallway and a gym; both spaces convert into flexible play areas when weather keeps children indoors. Family nights, special events, and weekend camps round out the year alongside the weekly hour.
A Confession of Faith Rooted in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
Springboro Baptist is in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, the confession of the Southern Baptist Convention. Its own doctrinal statements lay out seven themes.
The Bible. The Bible is God's Word to all people, written by human authors under the Holy Spirit's guidance; every Scripture is "totally true and trustworthy" and relevant to daily life.
God the Father. God is great, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, and never changing. He reigns according to the purposes of His grace, faithful to His people and Father to those who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.
God the Son. Jesus Christ is fully human and fully God, the Son of the Father, born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect and sinless life, died a sinner's death on the cross, and rose from the grave so that those separated from God might have life in Him.
God the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is fully God, assuring believers of their relationship with Christ, guiding them into truth, exalting Christ, convicting of sin, comforting in sorrow, empowering the use of spiritual gifts, and shaping believers into the likeness of Christ.
Humanity. Man and woman are made in the image of God, created for fellowship with Him, but by free choice brought sin into the world. No one reaches God by personal effort; every human is uniquely made, possesses dignity, and is free to choose life in Christ.
Salvation. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ provides the only way of salvation and forgiveness. Salvation is a gift from God, offered freely to all who place faith and hope in Christ as sufficient payment for their sins.
Eternity. Every person will exist forever, separated from God through sin or united with God through His grace and forgiveness, and will spend eternity in one of those two places.
Wonderfully Made: A Door for Children with Adaptive Needs
Wonderfully Made is a new ministry from Springboro Baptist designed to include children with autism, ADHD, sensory differences, anxiety, mobility challenges, and communication differences. The space occupies the church's existing indoor playground in the WeeKidZone hallway, while the gym becomes a secondary preschool play area in poor weather. Children and their families check in for the 10:30 AM service; an intake form completed by midweek helps the trained staff plan accommodations for each individual guest.
Two teams share the leadership. The Family Ministry Team consists of Pastor Scott Koger, Barb Farley, and Sheri Conerty; the Advisory Team includes Anna Farley, Krista Ogden, Nancy Bruno, Jodie Weneck, and Maggie McDonald. To serve, buddies must be at least 16 and team leads at least 21. The ministry underwrites its materials through an Amazon wishlist and a giving link, and the church has published a detailed prayer guide organized around the children themselves, their families, the volunteers, planning, the environment, launch day, and long-term impact.
SSM: Student Ministry on Sunday Nights
Middle and high schoolers in sixth through twelfth grade gather in the Student Center on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8 PM for SSM Sunday Night, the weekly heartbeat of student ministry. A typical evening opens with free food, games, and live music; shifts into gospel-centered teaching from invested leaders; and closes with small-group conversations focused on a personal relationship with Jesus and inner change. Pastor Lucas leads the ministry and serves as the direct contact for parents and visitors. The student ministry also keeps its own Instagram feed for updates.
Life Groups: Community Across the Week
The church holds that "life is best lived in community," and Life Groups are the chief expression of that conviction. Small groups meet on and off campus, across all days of the week, and through every season of life. A digital directory sorts the current groups by day and time so newcomers can pick a fit; a single form opens any group of interest. Topics typically follow the church's preaching calendar and alternate between Bible study, prayer, and fellowship.
Upward Sports and Family Outreach
Springboro Baptist runs an Upward Basketball league on its campus. The league is structured but family-friendly: trained coaches and referees lead each practice and game, on-court drills develop athletic skills, and off-court moments weave Christ-centered lessons into the week. The goal, in the church's words, is a "positive sports experience" that shapes young athletes spiritually, athletically, mentally, and socially. The Upward portal handles registration and volunteer sign-ups.
SBC Worship and the Creative Team
SBC Worship is the church's musical identity. The song catalog leans contemporary with "Build My Life," "Your Love Awakens Me," "What a Beautiful Name," "Firm Foundation," "Glorious Day," "Great Are You Lord," and "Forever Reign" as recurring anchors, alongside seasonal pieces such as "Silent Night." The team serves both Sunday morning services and shapes the musical arc of each teaching series. Vocalists and instrumentalists join through the church's serve page.
Serving and a Network of Partnerships
Volunteering is presented as the path to growth: "In serving others, we find purpose and feel fulfilled." Open roles range from greeting and door-holding to lawn care, the coffee bar, music, and children's ministry. A central sign-up form is the gateway into any placement.
Springboro Baptist also supports a wide partnership network.
- LifeWise Academy brings released-time gospel education to public school students in the community.
- Upward Sports pairs outreach with the basketball league run on the church's campus.
- Greater Dayton Association of Baptists supports pastors and church plants in the Dayton area.
- Mexican Indian Training Center provides medical support and trains Spanish-speaking pastors in Mexico.
- North American Mission Board plants churches and shares the gospel across the United States and Canada.
- Hope Rising walks alongside mothers with unexpected pregnancies with the gospel.
- Athletes in Action ministers to coaches and college athletes through programs, resources, and conversation.
- International Mission Board supports gospel presence among people groups across more than 160 countries.
- The Mygatts are church planters themselves, raising up Arabic-language church planters out of South Carolina.
Pastoral Leadership and Elders
Three elders shepherd the congregation: Adam Middleton, Will Farley, and Nick Parry. A wider deacon body and a finance team handle practical ministry needs and the church budget. Pastors and ministry directors focus on family and student ministry: Pastor Scott Koger oversees family ministry, Pastor Lucas leads student ministry, Sheri Conerty directs children's ministry as the main contact for parents, and Barb Farley leads WeeKidZone while serving on the Wonderfully Made leadership team.
Resources Beyond Sunday
Springboro Baptist offers RightNow Media, often called "the Christian Netflix," to any participant free of charge; the church has removed signup friction so a short form activates full access. The sermon archive is mirrored as both video and audio: video on YouTube, audio on a dedicated podcast feed, with the same messages organized into teaching series on the Messages page.
Giving is online (one-time gifts or scheduled recurring) through the giving page; a second channel is bank bill pay, with checks mailed to the church office at 125 East Mill Street, Springboro, OH 45066. During services, an offering box near the auditorium door accepts gifts as worshipers exit.
