Along Voyager Parkway in northern Colorado Springs, with views toward the front range of the Rockies and the Pikes Peak region beyond, New Life Church has gathered a regional family of believers around a confession that reaches back to the fourth century. The church proclaims the Nicene Creed as its statement of faith, gathers the Lord's Table nearly every Sunday, and runs an extensive worship program whose songs such as "Strong God," "Great I Am," "I Am Free," and "Overcome" now travel far beyond its local community. From its flagship North campus on Voyager Parkway, New Life oversees seven congregations that meet across Colorado Springs in English, Spanish, and Chinese, plus a mission outpost in neighboring Manitou Springs and a growing global outreach in Central and South America. Its members describe its purpose in three words, Worship, Connect, and Serve, that now shape every ministry from kids and students to Celebrate Recovery, marriage, and the military community.
The Nicene Creed as Statement of Faith
New Life holds the Nicene Creed, the fourth-century confession composed at the Council of Nicaea, as its statement of faith. The church teaches the creed as more than an intellectual checklist of doctrine. Pastor Daniel Grothe and the New Life teaching team present it as a confession of worship that forms the people of God and draws them into the life of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The creed proclaims one God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth; one Lord Jesus Christ, eternally begotten of the Father, who became incarnate from the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, rose again on the third day, and will come again in glory; and one Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
Around that creed the church has clustered four practices it considers foundational: Worship, where the manifest presence of God is encountered and the gifts of the Holy Spirit find orderly expression; Prayer, which the church calls the engine of ministry and which fills the World Prayer Center through the week; Family, where every generation from children to grandparents is welcomed into a lifelong journey of following Christ together; and Missions, where every believer participates in God's work of redemption through church planting, global outreach, and local mercy.
Weekend Worship at the North Campus
Three weekend services anchor New Life North. Two Sunday gatherings meet at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the Worship Center, and a Friday Night service gathers at 6:30 p.m. in the same building. Communion is offered at nearly every service and is treated as the high point of the gathering: the sermon leads worshipers to the Lord's Table, where they remember what Christ has done, look forward to the Great Feast, and receive His grace in fresh ways.
Music is central to the weekend experience. New Life Worship is a team of musicians and songwriters whose songs have become anthems in churches across the world. The set list often includes titles composed by the team itself. Pastoral prayer and blessing follow the sermon, and at the close of each service pastors and lay leaders come forward to pray with anyone who desires it.
First Wednesday of every month, the church gathers for an extended 6:30 p.m. service of worship, prophetic ministry, and prayer, both in the Worship Center and online through Facebook and YouTube.
Planning a First Visit
New Life welcomes newcomers with a stop at Connect Central, located in the main lobby after every weekend service. Staff and ministry leaders meet first-time visitors there, hear their stories, and help them find their next step. An Information Desk in the lobby is staffed for general questions throughout the weekend.
Accessibility is a priority. ASL interpretation is provided at the 9 a.m. service in Section 2 of the Worship Center. Specialized and Disability classrooms for children, students, and adults who need additional support are offered during the 11 a.m. service. Wheelchair-accessible seating is available throughout the worship center, noise-reducing headphones and earplugs are ready at the front desk, and a Family Viewing Room just outside Section 2 gives families a quiet place to step out when needed.
Kids Ministry check-in opens at 8:40 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. in the Children's Check-In area at each entrance. The New Life Kids team partners with parents as the primary spiritual nurturers of their children, and classrooms are organized by age: nursery from birth to age 2, Pre-K and Kindergarten, and Elementary for first through fourth grade. A separate ministry called 56 welcomes fifth and sixth graders at both Sunday services.
Sections and Small Groups
On Sunday mornings, New Life organizes its seating into numbered Sections, both inside and outside the Worship Center doors. Section Communities help newcomers get to know the people sitting in nearby seats. Hosts wear green or white lanyards, and periodic section meals throughout the year give each section an opportunity to share a meal, conversation, and stories.
Throughout the week, Community Groups meet in homes all over the city. Group Leaders plan gatherings that include food and drink, prayer, worship, study, conversation, and time to communicate logistics. Studies can follow the Sunday sermon series, dig into a particular book or theme of the Bible, or use an approved topical or video study. New Life encourages groups to meet weekly or every other week in fall, spring, and summer rhythm, with limited meeting activity in May and December.
New Life Kids and Students
New Life Kids believes the Holy Spirit is the primary teacher of every child. Each week, children from birth through sixth grade experience God's presence through creative, story-driven curriculum, time in worship, and intentional practice in hearing God's voice, praying, and blessing others. New Life Kids Worship, an EP of original songs written by Jon Egan and the New Life Worship team, is sung by the New Life Kids Choir to help the youngest hearts encounter the presence of God.
New Life Kids Mid-Week runs alongside small-group ministry on Tuesday evenings (6:30-8:30 p.m., check-in at 6:15 p.m.) and Thursday mornings (9:30-11:30 a.m., check-in at 9:15 a.m.). Parents reserve a spot through their group's leader, who pre-registers with the Kids team.
Students in grades 7-12 meet on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Student Center (formerly known as The Tent), with a half-hour of games, prayer, and fellowship afterward. Junior High small groups meet on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., organized by gender and grade. High school students gather in homes around the city on the first Sunday of each month from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. for community groups with food, games, Scripture, and prayer. A new ministry called Christ Life runs alongside the student ministry to help students follow Jesus together in everyday life.
Young Adults at NLYA
Young adults between the ages of 18 and 29 find community in New Life Young Adults, called NLYA. The group meets on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room of the World Prayer Center. NLYA organizes its life around three core values: Expectant Worship, Counter-Formation, and Kingdom Mission. The group meets most Tuesdays of the year, with breaks, and shares its rhythms through a regular email newsletter and social media.
Women's, Men's, and Marriage Ministries
New Life Women builds a Christ-centered community around three values. A Place to Belong welcomes women of all ages and backgrounds into a sisterhood shaped around encouragement and support. A Place to Believe affirms Scripture as the standard of truth and invites the Holy Spirit to grow faith. A Place to Become embraces each woman's story and seeks alignment with who God says she is as Christ redeems her past and guides her future. The ministry runs Moms Connect for mothers with children from pregnancy through the teen years, gathering on Tuesday evenings or Thursday mornings each fall and spring semester. Reaching Out by Henri Nouwen is the women's study for the fall season.
New Life Men centers on Fireteams, small groups of men who meet regularly to dig into Scripture, pray, and do life together. The ministry also hosts Kingdom Business and Leadership Gatherings on the second Thursday of every month from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. in the Prayer Room of the World Prayer Center, with coffee, bagels, and a monthly seasoned leader, and brings together a Kingdom Business Council of experienced business and ministry leaders who invest wisdom in others.
Marriage Ministry supports spouses in every season through monthly gatherings, discipleship courses, small groups, and pastoral counseling. Couples Night Out meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. in the Student Center, exploring Five Rhythmes for a Christ-centered marriage with kids' ministry available by registration for children from birth through fourth grade. Premarital coaching with a pastor or mentor couple, ideally beginning six to eight months before the wedding, prepares engaged and dating couples for a lifelong relationship.
Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery, the Christ-centered 12-step program based on the Beatitudes, meets on Thursday evenings in the World Prayer Center at 11005 Voyager Parkway. The evening opens with dinner at 5:30 p.m. (free for first-time guests), moves into the main session at 6:30 p.m. with worship, a reading of the Twelve Steps or Eight Principles, and either a testimony or teaching, then breaks into open share groups or a first-timer's class at 7:30 p.m. and closes with a free café and treats at 8:00 p.m.
Anyone struggling with hurts, hang-ups, or habits of any kind is welcome, regardless of church background. The community includes people recovering from substance use, pornography, eating disorders, anger, unhealthy relationships, shame, fear, and other patterns that keep them from the life God desires. Step Studies use a four-workbook curriculum over nine to twelve months to take participants deeper into healing and accountability. The CR community also extends to an REBOOT Trauma Recovery program for first responders, service members, and their families.
Pastoral Care, Healing Care, and Congregational Care
A team of pastors and lay leaders walks alongside members through marriage preparation, baptisms, the death of a loved one, hospital visits, and prayer needs. The Pastoral Care team coordinates with families on funerals and memorials, helps with bereavement resources, and offers a Prayer Team that ministers at the close of every worship service and during hospital or home visits.
Healing Care offers one-on-one Prayer Sessions throughout the week for those desiring emotional healing and freedom from spiritual bondage. A trained caregiver and intercessor prays with each person in a safe setting for clarity, truth, and acceptance.
Congregational Care provides practical support during difficult seasons, with care baskets, meals through the Meals Ministry, grief resources, Words of Hope notes, and a curated list of community resources for times of critical need. The team oversees a network of small groups and one-on-one mentorships to help people find companionship and spiritual growth.
Disability and Specialized Needs
New Life operates a Disability and Specialized Needs ministry that welcomes individuals of all ages into dedicated classrooms at the 11 a.m. service. Volunteer buddies walk alongside participants on a case-by-case basis to provide personalized support. A quarterly Parent Support Group gathers caregivers of individuals with specialized needs for conversation, encouragement, and prayer, with a separate space for independent teens and adults during the gathering.
All-Abilities Night is a sports and exercise program offered on the third Tuesday of every month in the Activity Center, with separate times for kids ages 5 to 12 and teens and adults ages 13 and up. The ministry's resource list connects families with local services, support groups, and ministries that serve individuals with special needs across the Pikes Peak region.
Local Outreach
New Life extends the love of Christ beyond its walls through five core local outreach streams. The Food Pantry Ministry invites donations of cereal, pasta, sauce, peanut butter, canned goods, rice, beans, and other staples to stock the shelves of Crossfire Ministries, a local organization that provides no-cost groceries, clothing, and care. Families-in-Need works through Care Portal, a nationwide platform that connects vetted, urgent needs of children and families with people who can help, providing beds, clothing, school supplies, and more.
The Homeless Ministry gathers weekly at a local park to demonstrate the love of Jesus to those experiencing homelessness, and teams also serve through Springs Rescue Mission. Prison Ministry brings encouragement and the Celebrate Recovery curriculum to those currently incarcerated. Vintage Ministry pairs volunteers with seniors in care facilities through personal visits and monthly or seasonal events.
The Global Project Fund
The Global Project Fund channels sustained generosity to local church partners across Central and South America. In Nicaragua, the fund supports community rebuilding after hurricanes through job training, discipleship, and educational resources. In Lima, Peru, the fund strengthens La Casa del Padre, a refuge for young girls recovering from trauma. In Guatemala, the fund helps establish a Christ-centered school for children in underserved communities. In the Dominican Republic, the fund digs wells in water-scarce regions, builds churches in rural villages, and supports a dynamic leadership school. The Global Trip Fund allows those who cannot travel to financially support missionaries and short-term teams.
Military Ministry
New Life recognizes the calling on the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The Military Ministry welcomes active-duty service members, veterans, and their families into the church body and offers three core programs. REBOOT is a 12-week, faith-based trauma-recovery course for combat veterans, first responders, military families, and survivors of critical-incident stress. Armor of God walks alongside service members who are preparing for deployment, supporting spouses during deployment, and reintegrating after deployment. The Faith in Leadership Conference is a two-day gathering for Christian leaders in the military community.
Manitou Mission
Just west of Colorado Springs, Manitou Mission is a volunteer-led community in Manitou Springs cultivating spaces of holy welcome, worship, and witness. The Pantry partners with the city each Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church to serve Manitou locals who need food assistance. M3, the Manitou Men's Ministry, gathers on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Mo's Diner on Manitou Avenue. The ministry operates as a missional community rather than a traditional Sunday gathering, and its members worship alongside the wider family of New Life congregations.
Leadership, Elders, and Teaching Team
Dr. Daniel Grothe serves as Senior Pastor of New Life Church and as Lead Pastor of the New Life North and New Life Friday Night congregations. A graduate of Oral Roberts University with a theology degree, he joined the New Life staff with his wife Lisa shortly after their 2005 wedding. He is the author of The Power of Place and Chasing Wisdom.
The Senior Team includes Dr. Michelle Anthony, Dr. Andrew Arndt, Blake Cataldo, Jayde Duncan, Jon Egan, and Beth Vaccaro, each serving at the Senior Executive Pastor level. Each congregation is led by its own pastor: Dr. Andrew Arndt at New Life East, Dr. Rachel Zhou Chen at the Chinese Church, Jeremias Tamarez at Nueva Vida, Jayde Duncan at New Life Midtown, and Josh Dillon at New Life Friday Night.
The church is governed by a board of Elders that includes Sam Cameron, Chris Fowler, Tim Larson, Tim Middlebrook, Scott Palmer, Jeremiah Parks, and George Taylor, alongside Senior Pastor Daniel Grothe and Senior Executive Pastor Jon Egan.
Worship and Creative Arts
New Life Worship exists to nourish a biblically faithful, historically rooted, musically skilled, and vibrantly prophetic multi-generational worship culture. A Worship Choir provides vocal training, a place to discover latent gifts, and a community of musicians and singers who enhance congregational singing. The New Life Worship Choir and band have released multiple full-length live albums on Spotify and Apple Music, including God Is Live, Banner, and Strong God Live, along with the NewLifeKids Worship EP sung by the New Life Kids Choir.
Giving and Financial Accountability
New Life is fully accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. Tithes and offerings can be given online through the New Life app, scheduled as recurring gifts, or dropped in the offering boxes in the Worship Center. Giving is also directed to specific funds including Global Missions, Local Outreach, Ministries, and the Global Project and Trip Funds. Annual audited financial statements are publicly available, and the church operates under ten guiding financial principles and a clear purchase-order approval system. The pastoral and staff salary processes are set and reviewed by the non-staff elders using comparable information from ministries of similar size.
From its weekday prayer rooms to its Sunday services, from its mid-week kids and student ministries to its Manitou Springs pantry, from Celebrate Recovery tables to its global mission fields, New Life Church builds its life around the ancient confession that shapes every service and every ministry: the Nicene Creed, the Lord's Table, and the call to follow Jesus together in the Pikes Peak region.
