Lakeview Baptist Church on SE 14th Street in Grand Prairie brings English- and Spanish-speaking families together for worship, Bible study, and ministry. The church marked 75 years of faithful service to the Lakeview community, and its congregational life is known for bilingual worship, family-centered teaching, and care for people across every stage of life.
Glorify, Share Hope, Equip, and Support
Lakeview defines its purpose as glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ in all it does, sharing his love and message of hope with the community, preparing and equipping believers for ministry through teaching Scripture, and supporting one another as Christ commanded. Its mission describes a life of love and abundance, with meaning, purpose, significance, and direction found in following God's invitation: "Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." The church presents that invitation, from Matthew 11:28, as an invitation to find rest and to walk into God's very best.
Separate Gatherings, Periodic Bilingual Worship
Lakeview describes itself as one congregational family offering worship and Bible studies in English and Spanish. The language gatherings are separate services and classes, but the church periodically brings them together for bilingual worship.
The Spanish ministry grew from a practical response to community needs. The English-speaking congregation saw a need to reach the community through weekly ESL classes during Wednesday evening meetings, then felt God leading the work further into teaching the Word and sharing the Gospel in Spanish. That work brought new friends, families, and capable team members into the life of the church.
Pastor Charles Kendall leads the English services, while Pastor Elias Montalvo leads the entirely Spanish service. Both gatherings center on family, the truth of God's Word, practical living of Jesus' commands, and genuine love and care for one another. The emphasis is reflected in Lakeview's culture of commitment to God.
The Sunday and Wednesday Rhythm

Children and Students Grow Together
Lakeview's children's ministry works in partnership with parents to love, nurture, and build a foundation of faith. It seeks to speak to children in language appropriate to their development in a safe, secure setting where they can understand how loved they are by God. English Sunday school serves preschool through sixth grade at 9:30 a.m. Mission Friends gathers four-year-olds through kindergarten, Royal Ambassadors gathers first- through sixth-grade boys, and Girls in Action gathers first- through sixth-grade girls at 6:00 p.m. On Wednesdays, four-year-olds through kindergarten meet for Bible Story while first- through sixth-graders have Bible study. The children's summer camp is for third- through sixth-graders.
The student ministry serves seventh- through twelfth-graders and helps young people make the transition from preteen to adult in a way that honors Christ. Its environment is intentionally accepting, where questions and thoughts can be discussed and measured against the wisdom of the Bible. Sunday discipleship begins at 9:30 a.m.; youth Bible study and fellowship also meet at 6:00 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Adults, Women, and Young Adults
Adult ministries are offered in both languages, with Sunday school classes for adults, small groups, Bible studies, and a Wednesday prayer and Bible study. The Ladies of Lakeview welcome women of every age, background, and language. Known for faith, fellowship, and fun, the group meets for a monthly devotional and fellowship on the third Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The young-adult ministry serves people ages 18 to 30 as they move from high school into college, a career, or other adult responsibilities. It aims to help them deepen their understanding and application of the Gospel. English discipleship meets Sunday at 9:30 a.m., Spanish discipleship at 10:45 a.m., and the young-adult Bible study meets Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
What Lakeview Teaches
Lakeview's abbreviated doctrinal statement describes the Bible as God's infallible Word and the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as co-equal and co-eternal. It identifies Jesus Christ as God in the flesh and the only Savior, teaches that all people have sinned and need forgiveness, and says that God loves everyone and sends Christians to disciple all nations. Christ's death and resurrection are central, with salvation described as God's gift by grace alone through faith alone. Christians are responsible to love God, their neighbors, and one another, and everyone will spend eternity in heaven or hell.
A Grand Prairie Mission Partnership
One of Lakeview's greatest joys as a Grand Prairie church is its partnership with local missions, including the Pregnancy Resource Center of Grand Prairie. Opened in 1994, the center provides a safe, confidential place for women, men, and families facing unplanned pregnancies. It has helped thousands of women and is estimated to have served 20,000 clients. The center is located at 2305 Oak Lane, Building 4B, Suite 101, in Grand Prairie, and operates Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sermons, Giving, and Continuing Life
People who cannot attend or want to share a message can watch the livestream and access sermons. Giving is available through the church's online giving. The church office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Lakeview's identity is found in its two-language congregations and in the relationships built around them: families raising children together, students and young adults discussing faith and decisions, women sharing fellowship, adults studying Scripture, and a local mission extending care to families facing unplanned pregnancies. Across those ministries, the church remains centered on glorifying Jesus Christ, sharing hope, preparing believers for service, and supporting one another.
