Saturday at 6, Sunday at 9 and 10:40

People may arrive and leave on time, but many come early and stay afterward for the community that develops around the gatherings.

Worship is described as a response to who God is and what he has done, while weekly sermons are rooted in Scripture and centered on Jesus. The teaching is intended to challenge listeners to grow, encourage them to live by faith and equip them to follow Jesus daily. A Spotify playlist collects the songs incorporated into weekly worship. Before leaving, a visitor can fill out a connection card, which helps church leaders make a welcome connection and share information about the congregation's ministries.
A New Testament Pattern for Faith and Life
Highline holds to a defined set of Christian beliefs. Its independence makes room for people with varied Protestant persuasions to gather while the church holds firmly to core gospel truths. The commitments cover God, salvation, the church and the way people live.
- The Triune God: There is one God who exists as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ, Savior and Lord: God's Son lived without sin, died on the cross for all sins, was raised from the dead and is coming again.
- The authority of Scripture: The Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God and is authoritative for Christian faith and practice.
- The reality of sin: All people have sinned and deserve the punishment of eternal death.
- Salvation through Christ alone: The atoning death of Jesus makes salvation from the penalty of death possible for all.
- Grace, not works: Salvation cannot be earned; it is God's gift to those who believe in Jesus Christ.
- Faith, repentance and baptism: Baptism is immersion in water of a professing believer in Christ.
- The work of the Holy Spirit: The believer receives the Holy Spirit for guidance, comfort and assistance in prayer.
- The church as the body of Christ: The church is a fellowship of Christian believers.
- God's design for marriage: God created male and female and instituted marriage as the lifelong union of one man and one woman.
- The sanctity of life: Highline values life at every stage, from conception to eternity.
These beliefs shape the church's mission as much as its gatherings. The emphasis extends beyond what people believe to loving God and others in daily life, growing as disciples, building community and serving others.
Highline Kids Follow the Big God Story
Highline Kids is a safe, welcoming and fun environment where children learn about Jesus through age-appropriate, Bible-rooted lessons. Each week includes engaging lessons, energetic worship, hands-on activities and leaders who are passionate about helping children know and follow Jesus. Children are considered an important part of God's family, and the ministry is designed to help them understand the biblical story and their place within it.
At the 9:00 a.m. service, elementary students check into two classes together in the South building. First- and second-graders go downstairs for a special Big God Story class that follows the biblical narrative from Creation through the whole Bible. Third- through sixth-graders have Bible study on the same passage adults hear during worship.
At 10:40 a.m., students in grades 1 through 6 begin with games before joining together for worship and verse time. They then split into groups for grades 1 and 2, grades 3 and 4, and grades 5 and 6. Their study moves through Genesis at the beginning of the year and continues through Revelation by the end.
Early Childhood Ministry helps children see that Jesus loves them and that they are safe at church. Its activities include play, age-appropriate lessons, crafts and worship, along with a little snack each week.
The Wednesday midweek group serves students in grades 1 through 6 and divides them into younger and older groups. A typical gathering includes a lesson, games, worship, verse time and other activities such as crafts or baking.
Middle and High School Students at Highline Youth
Highline Youth exists to help middle and high school students discover who they are in Christ and how to live that out every day. The ministry emphasizes authentic relationships, engaging teaching, fun events and serving side by side. Students are encouraged to own their faith and follow Jesus while feeling known, valued and challenged to grow. The Wednesday night youth group welcomes any middle or high school student looking for a place to belong and to learn about the redeeming love of Jesus.
Wednesday Youth Night runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Highline Youth also has Sunday gatherings for middle school students from 10:30 a.m. to noon and high school students from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The youth ministry values Gospel truth, discipleship, service, spiritual practice, community and growth. Every student is encouraged to encounter God's love through relationships, hear the truth of the gospel and have a meaningful interaction with an adult leader. Growth happens through sustained relationships rather than through participation in programs alone.
Adult leaders come alongside students, showing interest in their lives, praying for them, offering encouragement and modeling faith. The wider youth rhythm also includes retreats, camps, mission trips, serving opportunities and social events that reinforce relationships formed throughout the year.
Young Adults Meet on Thursday Nights
Highline Young Adults serves people in their 20s and 30s as they navigate college, the beginning of a career, changing circumstances and questions about what comes next. The ministry is centered on building lasting friendships, growing in a relationship with Jesus and living out faith in everyday life. It creates room for honest questions, purpose and connection with people beyond the gathering itself.
The group's regular meeting is Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., combining fellowship with biblical teaching and conversation.
Men Grow Together on Wednesday Nights
Highline Men is a ministry for men of all ages who want to grow in Christ, build meaningful relationships and live with purpose and courage. The church's vision for men includes leading with integrity, loving their families well and serving faithfully in every area of life.
Wednesday gatherings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. provide time for fellowship-building activities, Bible-based studies, special events and individual encouragement. The emphasis is on walking closely with Jesus and with one another.
Women Study, Pray, Create and Serve
Highline Women's Ministry welcomes women of all ages and stages, including those who are new to church and those who have followed Jesus for years. Its gatherings include Bible studies, prayer gatherings, special events and opportunities to serve. Women grow in faith, find authentic community and encourage one another as sisters in Christ.
Small groups include Women in the Word, Crochet and Knitting, Quilting and Crafting, and Photographic Memories. The crochet and knitting group works on projects intended to bless others as the Lord leads. The quilting group welcomes all ladies and provides irons, ironing boards, cutting mats and rulers. Photographic Memories brings women together to scrapbook photos, organize photographs, share tools and ideas, and talk about life.
Encore Seniors Grow at 55 and Beyond
Encore Seniors is Highline's community for adults 55 and older. These adults are committed to continuing to grow in Christ, encouraging one another and making a lasting impact for the Kingdom. The ministry emphasizes the meaning, wisdom and opportunity that can be found in this season of life.
Encore combines faith, fellowship and service as seniors pursue purpose and walk together with joy. It provides a distinct place within Highline's wider community for adults in this stage of life to remain connected and engaged.
A Church Built Around Worship and Relationship
Highline's rhythm is intergenerational. Weekend worship and biblical teaching remain at the center, while children, students and adults have specific places to learn, belong and serve. The ministries do not function as separate additions to the church; they extend the same pattern of Scripture, worship, relationships and service into different parts of life.
The church also provides an online giving option. At Highline Christian Church in Burien, the shared emphasis remains on biblical conviction, meaningful community and a practical commitment to love God and others in everyday life.
