Grace Community Church sits on Goshen Road in Rincon, Georgia, just outside Savannah in Effingham County. It is an elder-led, independent, non-denominational congregation that draws families from Rincon and the surrounding communities of Springfield, Guyton, and Pooler. The church is known for verse-by-verse preaching through Scripture, a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and a steady calendar of programs for every age from nursery through young adults.
Sunday Mornings: Small Groups, Then Worship
The Sunday rhythm at Grace Community begins at 9:00 a.m. with small groups. Children, students, and adults gather in separate classrooms around the building to study the Bible together. Children's Small Group serves kids from age 5 through fifth grade, while student and adult groups meet at the same hour for their own lessons and discussion. Small groups are open to anyone, and newcomers are welcome to jump in at any point.
At 10:30 a.m. the congregation gathers for Sunday Worship. A typical service runs about ninety minutes and follows a familiar shape: a time of contemporary and traditional music led by the worship team, prayer, giving, and a sermon from Senior Pastor Bobby Braswell. The music pulls from both modern worship songs and older hymns, so the feel lands somewhere between a contemporary service and a blended one. The atmosphere is casual, and the dress is whatever makes people comfortable.
Children are cared for throughout the morning. Nursery is available from 10:30 a.m. to noon for infants through age four, staffed by background-checked volunteers. After the music portion of the service, children in kindergarten through third grade are dismissed to Children's Church for an age-appropriate lesson. On fifth Sundays, Children's Church takes a break and families receive interactive coloring packets to use together during the sermon.
Collide Wednesdays: Students and Kids Alive
Wednesday nights belong to the next generation. From 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Grace Community runs two parallel programs: Collide Student Ministry for fourth through twelfth graders and Grace Kids Alive for younger children. The two groups share a building but move through the evening in their own way.
Collide opens with fellowship, moves into a group game, then transitions into worship and a Bible lesson, finishing with a small group discussion time. The goal is to connect students to the relevance of the Gospel for everyday life and to help them grow into the image of Christ. Students also participate in seasonal activities throughout the year, including kayaking trips, ski trips, camping trips, mission trips, and serving the hungry in the community, along with summer camps.
Grace Kids Alive follows a similar pattern of games, worship, and a Bible lesson designed for younger kids. The Wednesday children's program is staffed by trained, background-checked volunteers, and a volunteer security team is on campus during all programming hours.
Grace Kids from Nursery Through Fifth Grade
Children's ministry at Grace Community Church is built around three touchpoints each week. The nursery, located near the worship center, serves infants through age four during the Sunday worship service. Volunteers sing simple songs with the babies and toddlers and introduce them to foundational Bible stories in a warm, supervised space.
Children's Small Group meets at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays for children age five through fifth grade. The lesson time focuses on Scripture in a way that is engaging and easy to follow, and every volunteer who serves with children has passed a background check.
Children's Church happens during the Sunday worship service. After the music portion of the morning, children in kindergarten through third grade are dismissed to their own space for an age-appropriate lesson that complements what their parents are hearing in the sanctuary. On fifth Sundays, the children stay with their families, and coloring packets are provided to keep little hands busy.
All children's ministry volunteers undergo background checks and complete mandatory reporter training as part of the church's child protection policy.
Young Adults Meet Around the Word
Young adults at Grace Community gather every Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for food, fellowship, worship, and Bible study. The group meets at the home of Susan and Alvin Walton and is open to anyone in the young adult stage of life. The format is intentionally simple: a shared meal, a time of worship, and an open-handed study of Scripture. Anyone interested in joining can contact the church office for the address and current details.
Men's and Women's Ministry
The men's ministry centers on Man Church, a fellowship that meets the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The evenings combine food, conversation, and Bible study, giving men in the church a regular rhythm to gather around the Word.
The women's ministry offers two weekly meeting times so women with different schedules can participate. A Tuesday evening Bible study meets at 6:30 p.m., and a Wednesday morning Bible study meets at 11:00 a.m. Both groups focus on Scripture and on building the kind of friendships that strengthen the whole church.
What Grace Community Believes
Grace Community Church describes itself as an elder-led, independent, non-denominational congregation. The teaching and ministry of the church flow from seven core biblical doctrines laid out in its statement of faith, beginning with the nature of God. There is one eternal God existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the creator of everything, perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy, and unchanging.
God has revealed himself through his Son Jesus Christ, through the Holy Scriptures, and through creation itself. Human beings, both male and female, were created in God's image for his glory. Through the disobedience of Adam and Eve, humanity fell from fellowship with God, and all of creation has been fractured since.
Salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone. He lived a sinless life, willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for human sin, and rose from the dead. By grace, God offers eternal life as a free gift to all who follow Christ by faith as Lord and Savior.
The Church exists as the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the Gospel. Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
Missionaries in Kenya and Alaska
Grace Community Church supports missionary partners both locally and around the world through financial giving, prayer, teaching, and short-term mission trips. Two international partnerships are at the heart of that work.
In Kisumu, Kenya, the church supports Chris and Tammy Page and their family as they serve with Agape Children's Ministry. The Pages work with children in one of the regions of East Africa where the need is greatest, and Grace Community walks alongside them through regular giving and prayer.
In Soldotna, Alaska, the church supports Brian and Elizabeth Bruxvoort and their family at the Missionary Aviation Repair Center (MARC). MARC provides aircraft maintenance and support for missionaries working in remote regions, and the Bruxvoort family plays a key role in keeping that lifeline in the air.
The church also encourages members to respond to God's call to missions themselves, whether that means serving across the world or right in their own community.
Serving Teams
Grace Community is volunteer-driven, and there are several teams where members can put their gifts to work. The Hospitality team includes greeters, ushers, and coffee area volunteers who welcome people, help them find seats, and answer questions. The Music team, led by Worship Pastor Scott Garman, leads the congregation in worship each week and welcomes new musicians and singers. The Media and Technology team handles weekly sermon recordings in video and audio and keeps the church's online presence active.
The Prayer Warriors team prays throughout the week for the pastor, elders, deacons, church members, special requests, and missionary needs. The Security team monitors access points during services and events. The Building and Grounds team takes care of the upkeep of the property, from plumbing and painting to general cleaning.
Anyone interested in volunteering can reach out to the church office. Volunteers who serve with children or students must complete a background check, mandatory reporter training, and the church's child protection policy.
The Leadership Team
Grace Community is led by Senior Pastor Bobby Braswell, who teaches verse by verse through Scripture. Cody Walton serves as Student Pastor and oversees the Collide Student Ministry. Scott Garman is the Worship Pastor and leads the music ministry. Abby Morris leads Children's Ministry, coordinating the nursery, Children's Small Group, Children's Church, and Grace Kids Alive.
The church is governed by a board of elders that includes Johnathan Hathaway and Scott Carpenter, with Sheila Kessler serving as financial secretary. The office is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the church can be reached at 912-826-4204 or info@gccec.org.
Property and Podcasts
The church property on Goshen Road is open to the community for activities like soccer and photography when scheduled in advance through the church office. Inside, the building houses the worship center, classrooms for children and students, and the spaces used for small groups, Bible studies, and midweek programs.
Sermons are recorded each week and made available in audio and video form on the church's media page. The audio feed is also distributed through a podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, so anyone in the area or far beyond can keep up with the teaching from week to week.
