From a Garage to a Growing Sanctuary on Wendell Street
Faith Deliverance Apostolic Ministries sits on Wendell Street in Savannah, Georgia, where a small gathering of thirty believers first met in November 1990. The first meeting to organize the church was held at the home of Elder and Sister Wallace on November 17, 1990. By the following Sunday, November 18, the group had moved worship into the Wallace family garage, the temporary home for what would become a thriving Apostolic congregation.
The vision quickly outgrew that humble setting. The congregation located a nearby property, walked it through a successful zoning appeal, and pooled their resources to purchase the land in full. Construction of the church building began in September 1991. On November 14, 1992, the founding members made a memorable walk from the garage to the new property, where services gathered in what would later become the fellowship hall. In June 1994, the sanctuary was completed and dedicated as the church's central place of worship.
As the ministry expanded, additional adjacent properties were acquired, providing extra sanctuary seating, classrooms, offices, and a larger fellowship hall. The church today continues to serve from 5215 Wendell Street, with Bishop Charles A. Wallace, Sr. and Elect Lady Beatrice Wallace still at the helm as the founders of the work.
Sunday Morning Worship and Thursday Nights of the Word
Weekly services follow a simple rhythm centered on Sunday morning and Thursday evening. The Sunday Morning Service begins at 11:30 a.m. and is the congregation's primary gathering for praise, preaching, and fellowship.
Thursday evenings bring two gatherings at 7:00 p.m.: a Bible Teaching time and an Evangelistic Service. Together, these midweek services give the saints a place to study Scripture in depth and to welcome seekers with a focused gospel message. All listed times are in Eastern Time.
The Wallace Family at the Center of the Work
Bishop Charles A. Wallace, Sr. and his wife, Elect Lady Beatrice Wallace, are the founders and spiritual leaders of Faith Deliverance. Bishop Wallace gave his life to the Lord in 1980, was filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, and was baptized in water in the name of Jesus. He served as a Sunday school teacher, musician, and deacon before being called into the ministry, was ordained as an elder in 1984, and was elevated to the office of Bishop in May 2001. A devoted husband and the father of four sons, he continues to shepherd the congregation with a steady emphasis on practical holiness.
Elect Lady Beatrice Wallace joined her husband in the work in 1981, when she gave her life to the Lord and was filled with the Holy Ghost. She has served the ministry in many roles, with a particular passion for the young people of the church, having directed the Youth Department for many years and now serving as advisor to the various youth ministries. A retired accountant with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, she is the mother of four sons and grandmother of six.
Their son, Elder Charles A. Wallace, Jr., serves as Youth Leader, Minister of Music, and Director of the Higher Praise Choir. A native of Savannah, he surrendered his life to the Lord in 2007 and was called into the ministry in 2010. He is the church's organist and a multi-instrumentalist, having served over the years as a drummer and bass guitarist. He holds a B.S. in Information Technology from Georgia Southern University with minors in Music and Electronic Broadcast Media, and works as a Desktop Support Analyst at the Georgia Ports Authority. He and his wife, Sister Ariane Wallace, have two children, Jasmine Aubriana and Jadyn Anthony.
Ministries for Every Age and Season
Faith Deliverance's ministry life is organized around four central auxiliaries. The Sunday School Ministry teaches the Word of God across all age groups, with leaders who love the Lord and his Word and welcome questions grounded in Scripture. The Youth Ministry gives young people space to grow in the Lord and to use their gifts, including singing in the Higher Praise Choir and serving in Children's Church. The Men's Ministry brings brothers in Christ together, young and old, for fellowship, Bible study, and outreach within the church and the surrounding community. The Women's Ministry nurtures the personal walk of each sister with Jesus through Bible teaching, fellowship meetings, retreats, and shared meals.
Rooted in Apostolic Doctrine and Practical Holiness
The mission of Faith Deliverance Apostolic Ministries is to build a faithful community of believers by sharing the apostles' doctrine through teaching and preaching God's Word. The church seeks to bring all to the knowledge of Christ and the unity of the faith, so that believers can embrace God's will and live holy, pleasing lives in light of Christ's return.
The vision is to serve and impact the Savannah community, winning souls and seeing lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ, rooted in the apostles' doctrine and faithfully fulfilling God's purpose. The church's motto, drawn from Ephesians 6:16, is "...above all taking the shield of faith..."
Bishop Wallace's teaching regularly centers on practical holiness. He has written that the Bible calls followers of Christ to a life of holiness, and that the gift of the Holy Ghost dwelling in the believer gives the power to overcome the law of sin. Baptism, in the church's understanding, is burial and resurrection with Christ, leading to a newness of life.
Aid 4 the Soul and the Heart of the Community
A devotional series called "Aid 4 the Soul" anchors the church's encouragement ministry. The series opens with Psalm 121:1-2, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." The reflections remind readers that believers do not have to live in fear because God keeps them, and that turning to God first, rather than last, is the wiser way to live.
Beyond the devotional, several outreach ministries have been launched over the years to serve and support the wider community around Wendell Street and beyond, alongside the auxiliaries that nurture spiritual growth among the young people and adults of the church family.
