A 1923 Welcome on State Street
Set in the fast-growing Boise suburb of Eagle, Idaho, Eagle Nazarene Church - known around town as EagleNaz - meets each Sunday at 1001 W State Street under a motto as plain as it is intentional: Love God. Love People. A Place Where Everyone is Welcome. The church's story begins in 1923, when one woman, Emma French, gathered with eleven others and imagined a church where everyone had a seat at the table regardless of personal history, family background, ethnicity, or gender. A century later, that same vision still shapes the life of the church. The congregation moved to its State Street location in 1981, and that campus has since served as the launching point for ministry to Eagle and the surrounding Treasure Valley.
Today EagleNaz is a multi-generational Church of the Nazarene community offering Sunday worship, kids and student ministries, Life Groups, women's and men's ministries, a young adult ministry, and an active community garden. Senior Pastor Tim Bunn leads a team that includes pastors, ministry directors, and a host of volunteer leaders who keep the church's programming running week after week.
Sunday Mornings at EagleNaz
EagleNaz holds two Sunday worship services on its campus: 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM. Both services are the same in content and run about 60 to 75 minutes each. The gatherings are described as welcoming, Spirit-led, and full of life, with engaging contemporary worship music, practical Biblical teaching, and time to connect with others. Both services are also livestreamed for those who prefer to join from home, and recordings are posted on the church's YouTube channel.
Visitors can arrive a few minutes early to grab coffee and find a seat. There is no dress code - people come in everything from jeans to dresses - and there is no expectation to participate beyond a comfortable level. On-site parking is free, with guest parking clearly marked near the main entrance; first-time guests can follow the EagleNaz signs or ask a Welcome Team volunteer for help locating the kids check-in area.
EagleNaz Kids programming runs during both services for children from babies through 5th grade. Several times a year the church holds Family Worship Sundays, when elementary kids (K - 5th) join their parents in the main service; tote bags with activity pages and a small treat are provided to help them stay engaged.
EagleNaz Kids: reJOYceland, Big League, and Club 4.5
The children's ministry is divided by age into three distinct environments - each with its own room, name, and personality - so that kids from babies through 5th grade have a place that feels made for them.
- reJOYceland (Babies - PreK) is a joyful, safe, and nurturing space where the youngest children experience worship made just for them, engaging Bible lessons, hands-on activities, play, and relationships with other kids and leaders. Check-in for the youngest children opens into rooms along the reJOYceland hallway on the main level.
- Big League (K - 3rd Grade) uses a sports theme to combine high-energy fun with meaningful spiritual growth. At 9:30 AM the kids gather in the "Stadium" for high-energy worship, interactive skits, and Bible lessons, and at 11:00 AM they move to the "Locker Room" for worship, Bible teaching, and small groups. Kids are welcome - and encouraged - to attend both services.
- Club 4.5 (4th - 5th Grade) is designed for the in-between stage of preteen faith, with high energy, deeper truths, and small group conversation. The 9:30 AM hour mirrors the Stadium-style service, and the 11:00 AM hour offers a deeper Bible dive with small groups where kids can ask questions and build mentoring relationships with leaders.
All three children's environments meet again on Wednesday nights from 6:45 PM to 8:15 PM for Wednesday Night Lights - a midweek gathering that includes worship, Bible learning, memory verse challenges, fun games, and small groups. First-time check-in happens at the East Entrance, where the EagleNaz KIDS team gathers parent and child information, including any allergies or special instructions.
Children's ministry is led by Next Gen Pastor Julie Wilhite, with Children's Coordinators Sarah Lindsay, Hannah Liedloff, and Stephanie Mattero supporting the Sunday, Wednesday, and special-event programs.
MID+ and Yth Chrch: Middle and High School
Students have their own rhythms and leaders at EagleNaz, organized as two distinct ministries that meet in the EagleNaz Youth Center.
MID+ is the church's middle school ministry for 6th - 8th graders. MID+ students begin the 11:00 AM service in the main sanctuary, typically sitting on the right side of the building, and are dismissed to the Youth Center after the final worship song for a Bible-based, context-rich message. Wednesday nights from 6:45 PM to 8:15 PM are the heartbeat of MID+ - with worship, a fun game, a short meaningful message, and age-specific small groups led by adults and students who are passionate about the next generation. Alicia Stuart serves as Middle School Pastor.
Yth Chrch is the high school ministry for 9th - 12th graders. It meets Sunday evenings from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the Youth Center for a time of hanging out, worship, and a message from God's Word. Many high school students also serve at EagleNaz on Sunday mornings. Ryan McMahan serves as High School Pastor.
Both ministries host major events throughout the year - including retreats, summer camps at Quaker Hill, service projects like the Mid+ Mission Trip to Portland, and a week at Nazarene Youth Conference - and they stay connected with parents through text updates and a calendar feed.
Young Adults: Connection, Growth, and REVIVAL
EagleNaz's Young Adults ministry serves people between 18 and 29 - college students, early-career professionals, newly married couples, and anyone figuring out what comes next. The ministry is led by Young Adults Pastor Morgan Shuster and gathers around four shared values they call DNA: Hang (deep relationship with God, others, and the world), Grow (transformation through pursuing Jesus), Serve (being the hands and feet of Jesus), and Gather (a contagious joy in life with God).
The central gathering is REVIVAL, a monthly young adult service held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM, featuring Christ-centered worship and a time of community and spiritual growth. Beyond REVIVAL, there are Sunday classes and Bible studies that meet at EagleNaz and off-site at homes, coffee shops, and local businesses. The ministry offers clear ways to get involved for newcomers - serving on a worship team, helping set up events, or hosting a Life Group in your home.
Life Groups: Where Real Life Change Happens
Life Groups are the small-group engine of EagleNaz. The church's own description makes the conviction plain: we weren't created to do life alone, and real life change happens best in community. Groups meet in homes all over the Eagle area during the week, and they are designed to be more than Bible studies - they are spaces to grow deeper in faith, build meaningful friendships, pray for one another, and walk through life together.
Groups are available for singles, couples, and families, and new and seasoned Christians alike. Each season brings a fresh teaching series with weekly handouts for participants. Recent and current studies include Life Group Fall 2026, Life Group Spring 2026, True North (a winter series on spiritual habits), Advent 2025, and Gospel Seeds. The relationship resources page also points people to a HeartChart check-in, a SHAPEd to Serve strengths survey, and a Spiritual Health Inventory to help individuals and groups take next steps.
Anyone interested in leading or hosting a group is encouraged to connect with Pastor Ryan, who oversees Life Groups and can help match both new leaders and prospective members with the right fit.
EagleNaz Women and EagleNaz Men
EagleNaz Women is a multigenerational ministry committed to helping women grow deeper in faith, build real friendships, and live out their calling with courage and compassion. The ministry centers on the Word, prayer and intercession, connection and accountability, and serving beyond the church's walls. Regular Bible studies, events, and retreats - including an annual marriage retreat - keep the calendar full, and a quarterly email keeps newcomers in the loop on what's ahead. Director of Family Life and Women's Ministries Melodee Bunn leads the ministry.
EagleNaz Men gathers men who want to grow, serve, and lead - both inside the church and beyond its walls. The ministry organizes around six Habits of Heart & Life: Worship, Scripture, Discipleship, Prayer, Service, and Evangelism. Men meet for Bible studies and events throughout the year, including a Dads & Kids Climb and regular men's studies.
The EagleNaz Community Garden
One of the most visible ways EagleNaz serves its neighbors is through a half-acre Community Garden that grows chemical-free produce and donates the harvest to local food ministries. Partners include the Boise Rescue Mission, Ministry Retirement Home, Hope, and the Donnelly Food Bank.
The garden season begins in late winter or early spring, when seeds are planted and nurtured in a greenhouse before being transplanted into the half-acre plot. Worm farm composting provides natural fertilizer, and pollinator flowers bring beauty to the space. Volunteers - whether seasoned gardeners or first-timers - are welcome any time of year to serve alongside others, build friendships, and be part of what makes a tangible difference for families and ministries across the Treasure Valley.
What EagleNaz Believes
EagleNaz is a Church of the Nazarene congregation, and its beliefs follow the historic Christian and Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. The church teaches that God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people. The Holy Spirit is God's presence in the world, making people aware of their need for Jesus and living within every Christian from the moment of salvation to lead and empower them.
The Bible is taught as God's word to us and the only source of truth for Christian beliefs. Humanity is made in the spiritual image of God, but sin has broken that relationship. Salvation is God's free gift, offered to bring people back into fellowship with Him, and sanctification is the setting apart of believers and the filling of the Holy Spirit for a victorious life in Christ. Eternity is spent either separated from God by sin or with God through forgiveness and salvation. Baptism is taught as a testimony to the death of self and resurrection into new life with Christ, and Communion is observed as a memorial of Christ's gift on the cross. The church itself is a community of believers who have accepted the good news that Christ has given them new life and an eternal relationship with God.
Staff and Leadership
The senior leadership team is anchored by Senior Pastor Tim Bunn, who carries the long-term vision and preaching ministry of the church. He is joined by Associate Pastor Ryan Roberts, Senior Adults Pastor Jerry McConnell, and Young Adults Pastor Morgan Shuster. Director of Worship & Communication Brady Collins oversees the music and creative side of Sunday services, while Melodee Bunn serves as Director of Family Life & Women's Ministries.
The Next Generation ministries are led by Next Gen Pastor Julie Wilhite alongside High School Pastor Ryan McMahan, Middle School Pastor Alicia Stuart, and Children's Coordinators Sarah Lindsay, Hannah Liedloff, and Stephanie Mattero. An Executive Administrator, Marketing & Communications Coordinator, Welcome Ministry Coordinator, Production Coordinator, and Facility & Grounds team support the day-to-day operations that keep the church's many ministries running week to week.
Getting Connected
For first-time guests, EagleNaz offers a Plan Your Visit form and a Connection Path that walks newcomers through the church's major touchpoints. From there, the church's Next Steps include joining a Life Group, signing up to serve, registering for baptism or child dedication, and exploring a personal commitment to Christ. The church office can be reached at 208-939-0661 or office@eaglenaz.com, and giving is available online as well as in person during services. The Eagle Naz newsletter and the church's social channels keep the wider community informed about services, events, and studies throughout the year.
