A Casual Church at New Road and Blue Road
Brandywine Community Church sits at the intersection of New Road and Blue Road in northeast Greenfield, Indiana, in the heart of Hancock County. Senior Pastor Mark and Kathy Wright founded the church in 1991 with help from Brookville Road Community Church and Community Church of Greenwood, and three and a half decades later, the congregation is best known for two signature care ministries: Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered 12-step program, and Wellspring Center, a whole-health mental health resource. The rest of the church - kids, students, men's and women's ministry, life groups, the Growth Track, and a PEACE outreach network - flows out of that pair.
Sunday Mornings
BCC meets twice on Sunday morning, with identical services at 9:30 and 11:00 AM. Each service runs about an hour: roughly 20 minutes of upbeat contemporary worship and 40 minutes of practical, Bible-based teaching. The music draws on songs from artists like Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, and Hillsong, and the preaching aims to put scriptural wisdom to work in the week that follows. Visitors are encouraged to come as they are and wear whatever feels most comfortable. The main entrance and most of the parking sit on the south side of the building, with additional spaces on the north and east sides. For those who cannot make it in person, the 9:30 AM service is also livestreamed on Facebook Live.
The Kids Path: Small Town, Adventure Land, and Beyond
BrandywineKids runs a layered, three-stage path designed to walk children from far from God to fully devoted followers of Jesus. Small Town welcomes newborns through pre-kindergarten in rooms on the south side of the Atrium. Adventure Land, for kindergarten through third grade, meets in the Chapel on the north side of the Atrium and mixes worship songs, teaching, and hands-on activities. Pre-Teen Kids, the fourth and fifth graders, gather in the Cafe through the gym as a bridge into Student Ministry. For older children, the 4:12 program covers fourth through twelfth grade. Every children's volunteer is background-checked, and access to kids areas is monitored by security leaders called Guardians along with security cameras. Family Events add day-trip-style outings for parents and kids together.
Awana is the church's midweek children's program. Club meetings run Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, with breaks for fall, Christmas, and spring holidays that follow the Greenfield Central School District calendar. The program runs August through April and is open to children who are 3 by August 1 through sixth grade, with a Cubbies track for potty-trained preschoolers. Director of Children's Ministries Evan Bennett leads the program and recruits adult volunteers to serve as group leaders.
Brandywine Students for Grades 6 to 12
Middle and high school students have their own ministry, Brandywine Students, which meets on Sundays during the school year from August through May. Open Gym in the gym opens at 3:30 PM; the full group gathers in the chapel at 4:00 PM, splits into middle school and high school at 4:45 PM, and closes with small group time at 5:15 PM, wrapping up at 6:00 PM. Parents are always welcome to join. Director of Student Ministries Les Moore leads the program and recruits adult volunteers for hospitality, small group leading, and security and tech or worship roles.
Celebrate Recovery on Thursday Nights
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-step program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain, or addiction, and it is open to men and women 18 and older regardless of church membership. The Thursday evening schedule starts with a Coffee Connection and Dessert Bar from 6:00 to 6:30 PM, followed by a large-group session of worship, teaching, and testimony from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. From 7:30 to 8:30 PM, participants break into Open Share Groups, which are gender-specific and topic-specific. The program is built on eight recovery principles and twelve biblical steps that work toward a stronger personal relationship with God and others.
Wellspring Center: Mental Health as a Core Ministry
Wellspring Center is a whole-health mental health resource housed on the church's property. Wellspring keeps its own hours and contact information, separate from the church office. The center is open Mondays from 12 to 5 PM, Tuesdays from 1 to 7 PM, and Thursdays from 9 AM to 2 PM, and can be reached at 317-462-2015 or contact@wellspringind.org.
Inside Wellspring, Hope Coaching offers six free, confidential, one-on-one 50-minute sessions with a trained peer leader, focused on finding hope, encouragement, clarity, and practical next steps. Family Grace, a 15-week peer-led group, walks alongside families and loved ones of people living with a mental health difficulty or disorder; Living Grace is its companion 15-week group for the individuals themselves. Both meet Tuesdays at 6:30 PM and are open for anyone to step in at any point. Kathy Wright, Director of New Life Biblical Counseling, leads the counseling arm.
Wellspring also runs a community Food Pantry that serves anyone in need on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. A community hour from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM offers a light lunch, with food distribution from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.
Life Groups, Bible Studies, and the Growth Track
Small groups are a major pathway into the church. Life Groups gather around God's word for study, encouragement, and prayer, and run in seasons throughout the year. The Growth Track is a four-step on-ramp of classes: 101 Belong, 201 Grow, 301 Serve, and 401 Share, led by Pastor of Growth Track and Communications Nick Riedman. Anyone can take the steps in order to get connected, grow spiritually, find a place to serve, and learn to share faith with others.
Beyond Life Groups, a handful of regular Bible studies and topical groups meet through the week. The Wednesday Morning Women's Bible Study, an eight-week study of Colossians and Philemon, meets at 9:00 AM in the Multipurpose Room. Friendship Bible Study, designed for adults with developmental disabilities, meets Tuesdays at 6:30 PM and includes fellowship, singing, prayer, a lesson, and an activity. A Young Adult Group for people in their 20s meets Thursdays at 7:00 PM in the Chapel.
Men's and Women's Ministry
Men and women each have a flagship intensive. Fight Club, the men's ministry, runs for 10 weeks on Mondays at 6:30 PM and pushes participants to grow intellectually, spiritually, physically, and relationally. A general Men's Group meets Mondays at 6:30 PM with a rotating menu of men's Bible studies, and a Men's Breakfast gathers on the second Saturday of the month from 8:30 to 10:00 AM for food and a short message. Director of Women's Ministry Bethany Bruner leads the women's side, where Rooted in Christ is the parallel 9-week journey, built around mental, relational, nutritional or physical, and spiritual health. Brandywine Moms and Tribe are also available for women in parenting and family seasons.
PEACE and Local Outreach
PEACE is the church's strategy for service and missions, and it underwrites a wide network of practical ministries. Vita Outreach takes the church into the community, while the Jesus Loves You Homeless Ministry serves people on the streets. Prison Ministry Volunteer and Needles of Faith extend the reach into correctional and craft-based settings. Behind the scenes, the Intercessory Prayer Team, the Sunday Morning PEACE Team, Pastor Prayer Partners, and a Handyman Team keep the operation running. Pickleball meets in the gym on Friday nights at 6:30 PM, and Open Gym Basketball runs Mondays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM seasonally, giving the community a chance to play together.
Beliefs and Worship
Theologically, BCC holds to one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and to the Bible as the inspired, authoritative, without-error word of God. The church teaches the deity of Jesus Christ, including his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, ascension, and promised return, as well as the deity of the Holy Spirit who indwells believers and empowers godly living. Humanity, created in God's image, is alienated through sin and reconciled only through faith, repentance, and trust in Christ alone for salvation. Practically, that means growing warmer through fellowship, deeper through discipleship, stronger through worship, broader through ministry, and larger through evangelism.
Getting Connected
The church office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 1551 E New Road, Greenfield, IN 46140, and can be reached at 317-462-4777 or info@brandywinechurch.org. Visitors can plan a visit and pre-register their kids in advance; regular attenders can give online, through the Brandywine Church Center app, by check or cash in the labeled collection boxes in the atrium and auditorium hallways, or by donating stocks and cryptocurrency through Engiven. Enrolled Kroger shoppers can also direct Community Rewards to BCC. The church is accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.
