Blaise Baptist Church meets on Blaise Church Road just off Highway 601 north of Mocksville, North Carolina, where Sunday mornings begin with Bible Fellowship at 9:30 and worship in the Family Life Center at 10:30. The church sits just past the Citgo at exit 170 off I-40, on a campus that holds classrooms, a youth wing called the Underground, and a childcare program serving grades K through 8. Its motto, "Rooted in Christ, Growing Together, Reaching People," guides Sunday worship, midweek studies, and the youth ministry's mission trips from Davie County across North Carolina and as far as Peru.
Sunday Mornings at Blaise
Sunday at Blaise follows a steady rhythm. Bible Fellowship classes for every age begin at 9:30 in the morning, and the church moves into worship in the Family Life Center at 10:30. The 10:30 service is streamed live on YouTube and on Facebook, with the stream opening at 10:20 so worshipers can tune in early. During the worship hour, nursery care is available for infants through age three, while Children's Church dismisses partway through the service for children ages four through first grade.
Drivers coming for the first time exit I-40 at 170, head north on Highway 601, and turn left at Blaise Church Road beside the Citgo. The church sits on the right side of the road.
What Worship Looks Like
Dress at Blaise runs the full range, from business casual to jeans and a t-shirt, and visitors are welcomed in any of them. A praise team leads the singing, backed by keyboards, guitars, bass, drums, tambourine, and occasionally a beat box. Congregational music is a blend of hymns, praise songs, and contemporary arrangements, and the heart of the music is to lift up the name of Jesus.
No single Bible translation is required at Blaise. Bible Fellowship teachers use whichever version they prefer, and most choose from the KJV, NKJV, ESV, CSB, or NIV.
Blaise Kids and Y4J Youth
The children's ministry at Blaise covers babies through fifth grade. On Sunday mornings Bible Fellowship is split into three rooms: a nursery for infants through age three, a Pre-K through second-grade class, and a third-through-fifth-grade class. Children's Church, held during the worship hour and dismissing partway through the service, serves children ages four through first grade. On Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45, the children's wing turns to missions and discipleship with Mission Friends for three-year-olds who are potty trained through kindergarten, and Mission Journey Kids for first through fifth grade.
Youth ministry, called Y4J, is for sixth graders through high school seniors. The youth meet for Bible Fellowship on Sunday mornings and again on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 in a space called the Underground. They study the Bible, pray for one another, share coffee, and travel together on mission trips that stretch from Davie County across North Carolina and as far as Peru.
Wednesday Nights for Women and Men
Wednesday evenings are the hub for adult small groups at Blaise. A women's Bible study meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:45 in the 100 Building, and on the same night the men gather in room 603 with Senior Pastor Ken Furches for prayer, Bible study, and life discussion. Other small groups meet on the Blaise campus and in homes around the community. Right Now Media, a free streaming library of Bible study videos, is offered to the church family for personal study and small-group preparation.
Celebrate Recovery on Tuesdays
Tuesday nights at Blaise belong to Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered recovery program Blaise describes as biblical and balanced. The evening begins at 6:00 with a supper (a $3 donation is suggested), moves into worship and large-group time at 7:00 with personal testimony and music, and breaks into open-share small groups at 8:00. The small groups are split into men's addictions, women's addictions, and men's and women's A-Z groups. At 9:00 the night winds down at the Solid Rock Cafe, with coffee, desserts, and one-on-one mentoring. Celebrate Recovery launched at Saddleback Church and now gathers in more than 29,000 churches around the world.
Shining Son and Fun in the Son
Beyond Sunday and Wednesday ministries, Blaise runs two childcare programs that serve the wider Mocksville community. Shining Son is a before- and after-school care program for kindergarten through eighth grade, with transportation from area schools, graded activities, a climate-controlled gymnasium, playgrounds, and field space on the church campus. Full-time monthly care is $250 per child, with part-time days at $15 each.
Fun in the Son is the summer day camp, open to rising kindergartners through completed fifth grade. Weeks are packed with Bible lessons, kid-sized worship, swimming, sports, crafts, and field trips. The middle-school track, called Summer Madness, is for students who have completed grades six through eight and adds daily worship, more Bible study, and a community outreach component.
What Blaise Believes
Blaise Baptist is an autonomous body of believers denominationally affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and holds to the Baptist Faith and Message. The church teaches that the Bible is the verbally and plenarily inspired Word of God, inerrant in its original manuscripts, and the supreme authority for faith and life. It confesses one God in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the deity and virgin birth of Jesus Christ. Humanity, the church teaches, was created in God's image, fell into sin, and stands in need of salvation through the atoning death and bodily resurrection of Jesus. Believers are saved by grace through faith, born again by the Holy Spirit, and called to follow Christ in water baptism by immersion and to share regularly in the Lord's Supper. Blaise also teaches the personal return of Jesus Christ, the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and everlasting joy for the saved alongside everlasting conscious punishment for the lost.
Two ordinances shape the life of the church: baptism by immersion as a one-time public profession of faith, and the Lord's Supper as a continuing fellowship meal for believers walking with Christ.
