Six Decades in the Valley
The Valley Cathedral sits on West Union Hills Drive in Glendale, on the west side of the Phoenix metro area. For more than six decades, this nondenominational family church has been shaped by a single pastoral family and by a steady stream of missionaries sent out from its pews.
Sunday Mornings at 11
Sunday morning is the heart of the week. The congregation gathers at 11 AM for corporate worship: praying together with thanksgiving, singing songs of praise with gladness and reverence, hearing the faithful preaching of God's Word, and being renewed for the work God has ahead of them. Services are held both in person and online through the TVC-AZ Facebook page, so members across the Valley or traveling can still worship with their church family.
A Family of Pastors
At the center of The Valley Cathedral's history is Pastor W. Donald Price and his wife Betty, who have served in Arizona and around the world for over 60 years. Pastor Price is described as an anointed and discerning shepherd who preaches God's Word with clarity, relevance and power, and who genuinely loves people. The Prices are now joined on the pastoral team by their sons and daughters-in-law. Pastor Tim Price and Ligia serve together, with Ligia also leading the children's ministry. Pastor Scott Price serves as co-pastor. Pastor W. Donald Price holds the title of Pastor Emeritus.
What the Church Believes
The Valley Cathedral's statement of faith is rooted in classic evangelical Christianity. The church believes in one God eternally existent in Father, Son and Holy Spirit; in the deity, virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension and personal return of Jesus Christ; in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the operation of His gifts today; in the Bible as the inspired and authoritative Word of God, profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness; in the sacredness of human life and reconciliation with God through Christ's death; in the calling of apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher within the body of Christ; in the local church as a place of worship, edification and witness; and in the second coming of Christ, the resurrection of the regenerate to eternal life and the unregenerate to eternal judgment.
Go, Serve, Multiply
Missions sit at the core of who The Valley Cathedral is. The missions ministry's three-word motto is "Go, Serve, Multiply." The church partners with ministries that reach the vulnerable both locally and abroad. In the Philippines, Valley Cathedral Philippines supports small local churches, and the church partners with Child & Church Partners International to walk alongside children living in poverty. Back in Phoenix, Urban Outreach Phoenix empowers, encourages and equips people of all nations, tribes and tongues to share the good news and to take the love of Jesus Christ into their own communities.
Ministries Beyond Sunday
Alongside the Sunday gathering, the church runs a children's ministry led by Ligia Price, a women's ministry, and the Aftershock ministry directed by Peggy Howerton. Three board members - Don Abel, Jerry Butts and Jim Moore - serve the church alongside the pastors, providing governance and oversight.
Giving and Getting in Touch
Giving can be done online through the church's secure giving portal, with options to schedule recurring gifts and review giving history, or by mail to 4002 W. Union Hills Drive, Glendale, AZ 85308. The church can be reached at info@thevalleycathedral.church.
What keeps the church moving forward is a simple three-fold calling: to worship the Lord, to equip believers for ministry, and to share the good news of salvation to the world. With a multi-generational pastoral family at the helm and six decades of ministry in the Valley, The Valley Cathedral continues to invest in the next generation of servant-leaders at home and abroad.
