Serving Christ and Oklahoma City Since 1935
At 7301 S. Walker Ave. in Oklahoma City, Trinity Church of the Nazarene has served Christ and the city since 1935. The congregation is a group of family and friends focused on one message, the Good News of Christ. Its multiple services connect with different cultures, languages, generations and needs while working to remain a unified, thoroughly diverse congregation.
Trinity is a Church of the Nazarene congregation. Its mission is to be filled with faithful worshippers, growing disciples, compassionate servants, generous stewards and prayerful partners of every age, color and income. A core belief is that the worship of God is what people were created for. That purpose is evident in the Sunday worship services, discipleship classrooms, family programs and the prayer and music gatherings that fill the church's week.
English Worship at 9:30, Spanish Worship at 10:45
Sunday worship begins in English at 9:30 AM. The Spanish-language Servicio de Adoración is at 10:45 AM, and English Sunday School meets at 11 AM. A bilingual Sunday School class for children in kindergarten through sixth grade begins at 1 PM. Trinity provides live services and a sermon archive on YouTube, allowing the congregation's music and messages to be heard online as well as in the sanctuary.
Sunday School and Discipleship Rooms
The 11 AM Sunday School includes Christian Retter's class in the Coffee Lounge and the class led by Chris Peterson and Tony Lopez in Room A102. A Spanish adult class welcomes people of every age for Bible study and discussion of diverse topics from the Bible and the Christian world. Groups for young single and married adults and for middle-aged adults meet in Murphys Chapel and Room A102.
Nursery, Children and Faith Builders
Trinity's fully staffed nursery and toddler classes receive children from six weeks old through prekindergarten while adults attend worship services and small-group Bible studies. The caregivers provide quality care, and toddlers as young as one take part in interactive Bible-story lessons that use music, movement and 3D visual aids. The bilingual Sunday School class for kindergarten through sixth grade meets at 1 PM.
Families also gather for Faith Builders, a family worship gathering on the first Sunday of each month. The children's and youth ministries have written safe-ministry policies, volunteer applications, medical and consent forms, and conduct agreements. These procedures support the aim of providing a safe place for children and youth to encounter God while participating in Christian community.
Wednesday Nights Bring the Church Together
Midweek Connection is held at 6:45 PM in both English and Spanish. Trinity Youth also meets at 6:45 PM in the gym and Upper Room at the northwest corner of the building. Its service is built for young people and includes time together, games, worship, a message and small groups. Youth Sunday School meets at 11 AM in the Youth Room on the building's first level, with time dedicated to discipleship.
The Wednesday rhythm continues with choir rehearsal at 6:30 PM, Celebrate Life at 6:45 PM and the bilingual Adoración prayer ministry at 7 PM. Young adults ages 18 to 23 also gather at 7 PM. The gatherings range from music practice and Bible-based recovery to prayer and an informal evening with friends over free coffee, ice cream or both.
Prayer Gatherings in the Sanctuary
Trinity holds an all-church prayer service on the first Friday of every month at 6:30 PM in the sanctuary. The gathering centers on corporate prayer and intercession, and everyone is invited to participate. A second weekly prayer gathering meets at 7:30 PM on Saturdays in the sanctuary, where a small group of believers prays for a mighty move of the Spirit of God in the church's services.
Children's pastor and children's ministry workers join children for prayer from 6:30 to 6:45 PM on Wednesdays. The children's prayer gathering, the monthly all-church service and the Saturday gathering give the congregation several regular ways to join in prayer.
Celebrate Life: A Bible-Based Recovery Group
Celebrate Life is Trinity's Bible-based recovery program for anyone with hurts, habits and hang-ups that might hinder their walk with God. It meets every Wednesday at 6:45 PM. The program is open to anyone who recognizes those struggles in their own life and is a regular part of Trinity's wider Wednesday ministry schedule.
Music for Every Service
Music is a regular part of corporate worship at Trinity. A choir ministers most Sunday mornings and rehearses each Wednesday at 6:30 PM. A praise band accompanies congregational singing and the choir every Sunday morning; its orchestra includes wind and string instruments, keyboards and guitars. The Adoración band ministers each week in the Adoración service, and technical ministries provide sound reinforcement and lighting support.
Bryan Powell is the contact for joining the Praise Band and technical ministries, while Pastor Sergio Rodriguez is the contact for the Adoración Band. These ministries give people opportunities to serve with their musical abilities and behind the scenes.
Young Adults Finding a Place to Gather
The group for young adults ages 18 to 23 offers a relaxed weekly gathering with free coffee, ice cream or both. It meets Wednesdays at 7 PM and is open to people who want to spend time with friends. The group's meeting location changes from week to week.
Giving and Staying Connected
Financial gifts can be made through online giving. Trinity also provides a QR code for giving by Venmo, and the Venmo contact is @tcnazokc. The church email is Trinity7301@gmail.com, the office phone is 405-632-3307, and office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 3 PM.
