Trinity Christian Reformed Church is located at 3000 East 16th Avenue in Anchorage, Alaska. Its identity centers on a fourfold mission: leading people to know Christ as Savior, grow in Christ, serve Christ and share Christ. The church's regular rhythm includes Sunday worship, adult Bible studies, nursery care for children, Scripture-guided prayer, shared meals and support for missions in Anchorage and Seward. Trinity can be reached at 907-272-8431.
Knowing and Growing in Christ
Trinity describes itself as Christian because it belongs to Jesus Christ and seeks to follow him, and it recognizes as fellow Christians those who accept the Bible's teachings as summarized in the Apostle's Creed. It describes itself as Reformed because it follows the branch of Christian history associated with 16th-century reformer John Calvin, which seeks to return Christianity to its biblical roots. Its cross-and-triangle emblem represents the Trinity, one God known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ for salvation.
Sunday Gathering at 11 a.m.
Sunday worship begins at 11 a.m. at the church's East 16th Avenue address. The gathering mixes traditional elements and songs with newer songs. At its center are the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ, faithful preaching of God's word and monthly celebration of the sacrament of the Lord's Supper. Trinity describes the atmosphere as friendly and hospitable as worship reflects God's grace, and reverent as worship reflects God's holiness. The searchable sermon library also lets people revisit messages by speaker, Scripture or series.
Study Times for Adults
Several regular gatherings support growth in Christian faith:
- Adult Sunday School meets Sundays at 9:45 a.m. from September through May, offering an opportunity to grow in knowledge of God.
- Praying the Psalms is a Tuesday Bible study at 7 p.m. led by Pastor Ben Hulst.
- Coffee Break is an inductive small-group Bible study for women that meets Thursdays at 10 a.m.
Children's Care and Guided Prayer
A nursery for children from birth through age three is provided during the Sunday sermon. Prayer is also part of the church's regular life. Monday Morning Prayer gathers at 9 a.m. for Scripture-guided prayer. A monthly prayer calendar focuses on the church family and provides a guided prayer format based on Scripture for each month.
Supper 8: A Shared Meal in Anchorage Homes
Supper 8 meets once a month for a shared meal and fellowship. The gatherings take place at the homes of assigned hosts, bringing people together around a meal.
Sharing Christ Through Alaska Missions
Trinity supports missions work with the goal of furthering the kingdom. The ministries it supports are Care Portal in Anchorage, Seward Seaman's Mission in Seward and the Community Pregnancy Center in Anchorage. Giving is also available through the church's online giving service.
Pastoral Leadership at Trinity CRC
Ben Hulst has served as Trinity's pastor since 2018. He graduated from Calvin Seminary in 2005 and describes Trinity as the third church he has served since graduation. His goal is to study Scripture deeply so he can guide God's people in knowing God, his redemptive story of grace and his call on their lives as they grow more like him.
Together, Trinity CRC's worship, study, prayer, fellowship and mission work in Anchorage are organized around its aim of knowing Christ as Savior, growing in Christ, serving Christ and sharing Christ.
