Trinity Assembly of God sits on Cincinnati Road in Georgetown, Kentucky, a single campus with two Sunday services, a free Wednesday night meal, and a full evening of programs that fill the building from birth through senior adults. Everything the church does flows from a simple motto: Experience God, Grow in your Christian walk, and go out and share your faith. People who drive up to 1220 Cincinnati Road will find a church that emphasizes being real over being polished, welcomes every background and age, and treats Sunday as the starting point for ministry that continues through the week.
Two Sunday Mornings, One Mission
Sunday at the church is built around two identical services in the Main Church Sanctuary. The 1st Service runs from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. and the 2nd Service from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., giving families and shift workers a way to pick the hour that fits their week. Both services are open to the public, and online guests can join the livestream that begins on Sunday mornings at about 10:35 a.m. and on Wednesday nights at about 7:00 p.m. through the church's sermons page.
Worship is led by Worship Pastor TJ Thorn, a Georgetown native who has been active in the music ministry at Trinity for more than 30 years and was called into the leadership role in April 2011. He and his wife Missy, who sings in the choir, share a desire to facilitate an environment where people experience God's presence in a powerful and life-changing way. Musicians, choir members, lead singers, and those with technical gifts find a home on the Worship Ministries team.
Wednesday Nights Around the Table
Wednesday is the other big night of the week at Trinity. The evening opens with a free meal in the Family Room from 5:45 to 6:40 p.m. - a sit-down dinner that the church describes as a warm way to feed bodies before feeding souls. At 7:00 p.m., the building opens up for an hour and a half of programs running side by side:
- Adult Groups - two Bible study classes covering different topics, so newcomers and longtime members can pick the one that fits where they are.
- Trinity Youth - middle and high school students gathering for teaching, worship, and time together.
- Trinity Kids - programming from birth through fifth grade in a secure check-in environment.
- Royal Rangers - a mentoring program for boys.
- Mpact Girls - a parallel program for girls from Sunlight Kids (0 to 36 months) through Girls Only (grades 9 to 12).
The structure is intentional: families can arrive, eat together, and then split into age-appropriate groups under one roof.
Trinity Kids: Safe, Fun, and Background-Checked
The Kids Ministry is led by Children's Pastor Amy Schreiner, a registered nurse by trade who joined the Georgetown community in late 2012. Every Sunday and Wednesday, Amy and a team of vetted volunteers provide a safe environment for children from birth through fifth grade. Each volunteer has a background check, and the ministry uses a secure check-in system: parents receive a matching identification tag at drop-off, and pickup works the same way at the end of service.
The goal is simple - help kids find their way to God, connect with others, and contribute to changing the world - and the room is designed to be Biblically relevant, fun, and age-appropriate. Parents can also step into the ministry themselves by picking up a volunteer application at the Check-In table.
Royal Rangers and Mpact: Mentoring the Next Generation
Wednesday nights also host two of the Assemblies of God's flagship children's ministries. Royal Rangers is a mentoring program for future men, built around Christlike character formation and servant leadership development in a relational, adventure-driven environment. Boys work through lessons and merit badges on topics ranging from survival skills and sports to sexual expression, worldview, manhood, and leadership - the kind of foundations that parents might not always know are being laid while the boys think they are just having fun.
Mpact Girls Ministries mirrors that approach for girls, using lessons, badges, and activities on themes such as Making Right Choices, Honesty, and Sportsmanship. The clubs run the full age range: Sunlight Kids (0 to 36 months), Rainbows (3 years through Pre-K), Daisies (Kindergarten), Prims (Grades 1 to 2), Stars (Grades 3 to 5), Friends (Grades 6 to 8), and Girls Only (Grades 9 to 12). Most of the work happens between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m., with some optional outside assignments for the older groups.
Junior and Teen Bible Quiz
Two of Trinity's longest-running children's and youth ministries are its Bible Quiz teams. Junior Bible Quiz (JBQ) covers Kindergarten through Grade 6, with quizzers mastering 576 questions a few at a time and competing on a quiz box against other local churches. Practices happen weekly, and meets run monthly from October through April on the first Saturday of each month at Lexington First Assembly of God. Three levels of competition - A-league (K to G6), B-league (K to G3), and C-league (K to G1) - let kids compete at the right level. The ministry points to a striking statistic: 95 percent of quizzers who complete JBQ stay with the Lord through adulthood.
Teen Bible Quiz (TBQ) picks up where JBQ leaves off for Grades 6 through 12, with the same combination of spaced repetition, friendly competition, monthly meets (second Saturday of each month), and travel to invitationals, regionals, and nationals. Beyond the trophies and candy, TBQ is designed to help teenagers learn and quote Bible verses, develop critical thinking and public speaking skills, build team discipline, and grow in faith as they ingest and apply the Word.
Trinity Youth: Junior High, High School, and Young Adults
The youth ministry at Trinity is led by Associate and Youth Pastor Steven Kelleher, who, along with his wife Andrea, has built a community of students who have embraced the Micah 6:8 vision and led the way in justice and serving opportunities. The ministry is divided into three groups:
- Junior High (Grades 6 to 8) - a place to hang out, develop deep friendships, and encounter the living God.
- High School - a space for students to begin or grow a relationship with Jesus and to discover what God made them to be, living a life that cares about justice, mercy, humility, and love.
- Young Adults (Ages 18 to 24) - a weekly gathering environment focused on growing in relationship with God and with others through friendships and events throughout the year.
Joy Fellowship: A Place for the 50-and-Over Crowd
Led by Jim and Diana Campbell, Joy Fellowship is the church's ministry for adults 50 and older. The group exists to provide spiritual growth, age-level educational pursuits, evangelistic outreach, and wholesome fellowship events - a lot of eating, singing, praying, and sharing together. Many in the group describe this season as one of the most meaningful ministries of their lives, with a special calling to lift up younger generations in prayer. Joy Fellowship posts upcoming events on its Facebook page and welcomes anyone who wants to build friendships, grow in faith, and share life together.
Men's and Women's Ministries
Trinity Men's Ministry is led by Steven Kelleher and centers on three goals: reaching men through outings and activities, teaching men through Bible studies and conferences, and releasing men to serve in every area of their lives. Father/son outings, a Ladies' Dinner served by the men of Trinity, and couple's retreats are among the special events the ministry hosts throughout the year.
Trinity Women's Ministry is led by Andrea Kelleher and aims to create a welcoming space where women can experience God, grow in faith, and encourage one another. The ministry runs Bible studies, fellowship events, and service opportunities and is currently restructuring around small group ministry. As a group, the women attend the Kentucky District Women's Retreat, gather for WM Connection meetings, and plug into teams such as Advisory, Food Ministry, Activities, Tech, Promotions, and Decorating.
Real People, Real Stories
Trinity is not about perfection. It is a place where real people with real stories, real struggles, and real faith journeys can show up as they are, without pressure or pretense. Nobody has it all figured out, and the church sees that as exactly what makes community so powerful. Lead Pastor Carl Kelleher and his wife Gail have been pastoring together since they were 22 and 20 years old. A graduate of Central Bible College, Carl enjoys reading, fishing, basketball, golf, and working on their five-acre property; Gail is a fantastic cook who works full time as an office administrator at the University of Kentucky. The Kellehers have three grown children, all involved in ministry, and three grandchildren.
Connections Pastor Jason Rice and his wife Samantha - Samantha is a graduate of Central Bible College, ordained with the Assemblies of God in 2015, and Jason is currently pursuing his bachelor's in computer programming and his own Assemblies of God credentials - round out the pastoral team alongside Amy Schreiner, Steven Kelleher, and TJ Thorn.
What Trinity Believes
Trinity identifies as an Assemblies of God church and affirms the denomination's 16 Fundamental Truths. Four of those truths the church highlights on its own pages:
- The Bible as God's inspired Word.
- Salvation through Jesus Christ alone.
- The Baptism in the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts.
- Living a Spirit-empowered life.
The church holds two foundational texts close. From Ephesians 2:19-22, the church draws the picture of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone, growing into a holy temple in the Lord. From Ephesians 4:15-16, the church takes the call to speak the truth in love and grow up in all aspects into Christ, the head, from whom the whole body is fitted and held together. A sample sermon outline from Lead Pastor Carl Kelleher, titled "The Promise of the Father" (Acts 1), walks through ten things the Holy Spirit helps believers accomplish, including empowering them to live for God, revealing God's will, imparting gifts, being their Comforter, guiding them into truth, convicting them of sin, and giving them power to witness for Christ.
Reaching Beyond the Walls
Trinity is passionate about taking the love of Jesus beyond the walls of the building. The missions program is rooted in the Assemblies of God's commitment to fulfilling the Great Commission and operates on three expressions of the church's motto: Experience God in new and powerful ways on the field, Grow in your walk by stepping out in faith, and Experience your faith with others by serving side by side.
The church has sent short-term teams to Kake, Alaska (2023), where they repainted and repaired a local church and hosted a Vacation Bible School; to Spain (2024), where they restored a respite place for weary missionaries; and to Brussels, Spain (2025). They support an extensive network of long-term missionaries in places such as East Africa, Northern Asia, Ecuador, Peru, Germany, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and SE Europe, plus two missionary families in sensitive areas the church cannot publish. BGMC (Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge), Speed the Light by the Youth, the Gideons International, and Convoy of Hope round out the global partnerships.
Closer to home, the church supports Special Touch Ministries and Rural Compassion in U.S. missions; Chi Alpha Ministries at Indiana State; Priscilla's Place in Louisville and Chad's Hope in Manchester through Adult and Teen Challenge; and a slate of Georgetown and Scott County partners including The Gathering Place Mission, Transform Scott County, Not Alone Pregnancy Center, and Amen House. All loose one- and five-dollar bills from the weekly offering baskets that are not designated elsewhere go into the Care Club, which funds the Backpack Buddy program.
Sermons, Giving, and Getting Connected
Sermons are accessible in three ways: livestreamed on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights through the sermons page, archived as video sermons on the church's Facebook page, and available as audio sermons from 2019 on SoundCloud. Recent series have walked through the Book of Revelation - titles like "Revelation From 30,000 Feet," "The Triumph of the Lamb," "The Midnight Cry: The Rapture of the Church," and "Worthy Is the Lamb" - alongside topical messages such as "How to Keep Your Spiritual Fire Burning" and "What a Mighty God We Serve."
Giving is available online through the church's giving page and by Text2Give at (502) 603-6059. Visitors and newcomers can also fill out a Plan Your Visit form online or pick up a Connection Card on Sundays.
Serving at Trinity
The church runs a full slate of serve teams. Worship Ministries welcome musicians and singers into the band, choir, special singing, or lead-singing roles. Media Ministries cover lighting, sound, graphic design, web design, and video editing. The Welcome Team greets everyone at the door and helps guests make connections. Teachers serve in Sunday School on Sunday mornings, host or facilitate home groups on Sunday nights, and lead on Wednesday nights in Royal Rangers, Girls Ministries, JBQ, and TBQ. Trinity Serves provides meals for church members in times of hospitalizations and medical procedures.
Looking Ahead
Georgetown, Kentucky is a town that has long been home to Trinity Assembly of God, and the rhythms on Cincinnati Road have stayed consistent: two Sunday services in the sanctuary, a Wednesday meal and programs for every age, weekly Bible studies and a free-to-the-public atmosphere, men's and women's ministry gatherings, Royal Rangers and Mpact clubs, two Bible Quiz programs that travel to tournaments, Joy Fellowship for the 50-and-over crowd, and a missions program that reaches from Georgetown to Ecuador to Spain. The church exists to create an atmosphere where people can experience God, grow in their Christian walk, and go out and share it - not just on Sundays, but in everyday life.
