A House for Healing on Greenbrae Drive
Sparks Christian Fellowship meets in a single building at 510 Greenbrae Drive in Sparks, Nevada, a low-slung structure that does double duty as a Sunday worship center and a year-round hub for recovery meetings, grief groups, and a Wednesday food pantry. The church's motto, "Connecting people to Jesus, through intentional relationships with one another," shows up in the rhythm of the week: a single Sunday gathering at 10am anchors the calendar, while smaller groups fill nearly every other evening with support, study, and service.
Sundays at 10
The main worship service gathers at 10am on Sunday mornings. Teaching is supported by a worship team led by Jordan Fitts, and the building opens early so families can get settled before the service begins. Visitors can park on site and walk into the Worship Center, where a Cafe and offering boxes are also located. Giving is available online through Pushpay, in person via the offering envelopes in the Worship Center or Cafe, or through the church's app.
Kids and Students at SCF
Children from birth through fifth grade are welcomed into SCFKids during the 10am Sunday service. On a first visit, parents stop at the Kids Check-In area, where a volunteer walks them through a one-time registration and shows them to the right classroom. Arriving 10 to 15 minutes early is encouraged so families have time to settle in.
Middle schoolers in sixth through eighth grade also meet at 10am on Sunday mornings, while high schoolers in ninth through twelfth grade gather separately on Sunday nights from 6 to 8pm in the Youth Room. A leader is on hand to welcome new students, and friends are always invited. Sarah Pearman oversees this Family Life ministry across all age groups.
A Building Open Through the Week
What makes the Greenbrae Drive campus feel less like a Sunday-only church and more like a community anchor is how often the doors are open. The Sparks Christian Fellowship Food Pantry runs every Wednesday from 9am to noon on the east side of the building. First-time visitors complete a brief intake form and then renew it annually.
Evenings and afternoons throughout the week are filled with peer-led support and recovery meetings. Narcotics Anonymous groups meet under several names: Hope In The Hood on Mondays at 7pm, Language of Love for women on Tuesdays at 11:30am and again for everyone on Thursdays at 6pm, In Times of Illness on Tuesdays at 5pm, and Diamonds in the Rough on Tuesdays at 7pm. Al-Anon's Road to Recovery meets Tuesdays at 6:30pm for friends and family of those struggling with addiction, and Shadows to Sunlight offers a Tuesday-evening support group for anyone dealing with physical, verbal, spiritual, sexual, economic, or emotional domestic abuse. A biweekly life-skills group called Courage to Change and a 13-week GriefShare session both meet Tuesday evenings, the latter with a $20 workbook and a scholarship option. On the second Monday of each month, While We're Waiting provides a biblically based setting for parents who have lost a child.
For those seeking Celebrate Recovery, the church points visitors to nearby meetings at Grace Church (Mondays), Granite Hills Baptist (Tuesdays, with childcare), Summit Christian Church (Fridays), and Sparks Nazarene (Wednesdays). A Compulsive Eaters Anonymous group, known as CEA-HOW, also meets on the campus; inquiries go to tammiw@scf.net or the main office line.
Getting Connected, Serving Together
The church frames its smaller-group life around the idea that "becoming more like Jesus and learning to love as He loved happens in community." Anyone who calls SCF home is encouraged to join a community group and to serve on a team, since every part of the ministry runs on volunteer support. Connections Pastor Dohn Matteoni and Community Life Pastor Dwayne Yancey help newcomers find a fit, and an online form is available for those who want to take the next step. A mobile app, available for iOS and Android, ties together giving, event sign-ups, the SCF Connect dashboard, and a prayer-request form.
Leadership
Jason Hall serves as Lead Pastor, with John Klippenstein as Executive Pastor. The pastoral team also includes Sarah Pearman (Family Life), Dwayne Yancey (Community Life), Dohn Matteoni (Connections), and Jordan Fitts (Worship Leader). Ana Cribb coordinates outreach and communication. A board of elders chaired by Joyce Sundstrom, alongside Heather Damonte, Arleen Henderson, Caroline Karl, Nic Brown, Stephen Sprinkel, Jim Smitherman, Will Sneed, and Joe Patterson, provides spiritual oversight. A team of staff handles accounting, HR, facilities, and technology behind the scenes.
Beliefs at the Core
Sparks Christian Fellowship teaches from a non-denominational, evangelical set of core beliefs. The church affirms one God in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - and holds that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who lived a sinless life, died on the cross, rose again, ascended to heaven, and will return as King. The Holy Spirit is described as the presence of God in the world who draws people to Jesus, gives spiritual gifts, and empowers Christian living. The church teaches that all people are made in God's image but are separated from him by sin, and that salvation comes by faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by self-improvement or good works. The 66 books of the Bible are accepted as the inspired, trustworthy Word of God, and eternity is framed around a final judgment and the promise of new heavens and a new earth.
Five Values That Shape the Week
Alongside doctrine, the church highlights five values that guide its ministry: Follow Jesus, Join Mission, Choose Community, Bring a Friend, and Live Generously. Living generously shows up concretely in the giving program, where members and attenders are encouraged to give regularly as a spiritual discipline, and in the food pantry that distributes groceries to neighbors each Wednesday morning.
