A Family Church on Shiloh Church Road
Shiloh Baptist Church sits along Shiloh Church Road on the east side of Seymour, Tennessee, in the foothills where Sevier and Knox counties meet. The congregation has grown into a multi-generational family church, with greeters ready to walk visitors to the right class and a worship service where ties and jeans sit side by side. Its stated vision is plain: to glorify God and lead everyone to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Its mission is to share the Gospel and faithfully love and serve others, both in the Seymour community and far beyond it.
Sundays at Shiloh
The Sunday rhythm at Shiloh begins with a quiet Call to Prayer at 9:00 am, followed by Life Groups and Bible Study at 9:30 am. Classes are offered for women, men, mixed groups, and senior adults, and special studies such as Divorce Care or Grief Care open as the need arises. At 11:00 am the whole church gathers in the main building for the worship service. Members sing together, pray together, hear a short children's message, and listen to the Bible preached. Visitors are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early so they can meet a few people before things get started.
The Sunday dress code is intentionally easy. Some wear a tie, most wear jeans, and everyone wears a smile. There are no chasing lights or thumping music; the family describes itself simply as people who will love on you and treat you like part of the family from the first visit.
Wednesday Nights for the Whole Family
Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm turn the church into three rooms running at once. Adults gather for their Bible study, students meet for OneLife Student Ministry, and children rotate through Team Kid and Kids Choir. The Adult Choir also rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm, preparing to lead worship on Sunday morning.
Team Kid, Children's Choir, and Children's Church
Children have three regular touchpoints throughout the week. Team Kid meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, Children's Choir meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays, and Children's Church is offered every Sunday for children in Pre-K and below. Childcare during the 11:00 am worship service is provided for the same Pre-K and younger age group, so parents can step into the sanctuary knowing their little ones are looked after.
OneLife Student Ministry
OneLife is the church's ministry to students in grades 6 through 12, meeting both Sundays at 9:30 am and Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. Its mission is to expose students to Jesus, encourage them to discover and pursue their gifts, and equip them to become disciples who make disciples. Student Pastor Justin Johnson oversees the ministry.
Adult Bible Study and the Worship Choir
Adults at Shiloh have several weekly ways to dig into Scripture. Sunday morning Life Groups at 9:30 am and the Wednesday Bible study at 6:30 pm run year-round. The Adult Choir sings during Sunday worship and rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm, and the Worship Choir is open to anyone who wants to help lead the church in song. Worship Director Benji Smith directs the music ministry.
Outreach and Missions
Serving the surrounding community is woven into the church's identity. Outreach ministries include C.A.R.E., Cross Food Ministries, the Christmas Store, and Vacation Bible School. Beyond Sevier County, Shiloh has sent mission teams to Guatemala over several years, and one church family even ministers to students and their families in China each year.
What to Believe, and Who Is Jesus
The church keeps its doctrinal convictions accessible. A full statement of beliefs is available as a downloadable document from the church, along with a short study called "Who is Jesus?" The teaching ministry is rooted in passages such as Numbers 14, where the pastor has written about the consequences of forgetting God's faithfulness, and the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6, the subject of a separate devotional from the student ministry.
Giving and Church Center
Shiloh offers three ways to give. Online giving is handled through the Church Center platform, gifts can be mailed to 1432 Shiloh Church Rd, Seymour, TN 37865, or donors can text any dollar amount to 84321. The Church Center app, available on iOS and Android, is the church's online hub for giving, event registration, group communication, prayer requests, and managing a household profile. Visitors are encouraged to fill out a Connect With Us form so the church can follow up personally.
Leadership
Glenn Metts serves as Lead Pastor and writes the weekly Pastor's Blog. Benji Smith is the Worship Director, and Justin Johnson is the Student Pastor. Kathy Baker provides ministerial support. Robert and Gayle Helton serve as Facility Managers, keeping the campus running week to week.
