About Saratoga Abundant Life Church

Saratoga Abundant Life Church gathers on Hutchins Road in Saratoga Springs for one Sunday service at 9:30 a.m. Founded in 1986, the Spirit-filled church is known for Bible-centered teaching, spirit-led worship, prophetic ministry, and a connected rhythm of prayer and LifeGroups. Its vision, To Know God and make Him Known, reaches into the greater Saratoga area through ministries that welcome children, teenagers, men, and women into church life.

From a Firehouse to Hutchins Road

Founded in August 1986 as Saratoga Covenant Life Church, the congregation held its first service in a local firehouse in Eagles Nest, Lake Lonely. Senior Pastor Dale Jensen founded the church with his wife, Sue, and their pioneering leadership remains part of its story. A few years later, the church took the Saratoga Abundant Life Church name.

In October 1989, the congregation moved to its present Hutchins Road property. The land was small at first, but the church grew, and the worship space and fellowship hall underwent years of renovation. Pastor Joe Galarneau and his wife, Beverly, joined the leadership with Dale and Sue in November 1991. Their service helped the church family expand during the 1990s.

A major building project began in May 1994. Members worked through a long renovation of the worship space and fellowship hall, giving rise to the worship center now used for worship, events, retreats, and other church gatherings. The first service in the new Worship Center took place in May 2000, opening a new chapter for the congregation.

Pastor Glenn Dionne and his wife, Jenn, joined the leadership in June 2007. His ordination took place on a Hawaiian-themed Sunday, and the church prayed for the Holy Spirit to accompany him as he would later serve as senior pastor. Pastor Joe retired in 2013 and Pastor Dale retired in 2015. In August 2016, Pastor Glenn was commissioned as Senior Pastor. The church body is continually growing as the congregation follows the Holy Spirit and seeks to align with God's will.

One Sunday Gathering at 9:30

Saratoga Abundant Life Church keeps one primary Sunday gathering at 9:30 a.m. The church is at 2 Hutchins Road in Saratoga Springs. Corporate prayer begins 30 minutes before the service, so the Sunday rhythm starts with the congregation gathered in the front sanctuary.

Before worship, a volunteer offers announcements about practical matters and what is taking place in church life. The service then moves into Spirit-Led Worship, led by the worship team. The church also practices prophetic ministry: someone may step forward to share something God has placed on their heart for the congregation.

Pastor Glenn teaches and preaches from the Bible through the lens of the Holy Spirit, emphasizing the heart of God and his truth. The message follows worship and centers on studying the Word with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

At the welcome desk, a volunteer greets guests, helps them find a seat, and answers questions. During worship, LifeKids is available for children through eighth grade. Families watch for the LifeKids logo on the screens as children head toward the entrance beside the stage. Office hours run Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The church can be reached at (518) 885-5456 or abundant.life@salchurch.org.

The Bible at the Center of Abundant Life

At Abundant Life, humanity is created for relationship, born with purpose, and designed to walk in freedom through intimacy with God. The freedom Jesus brings is meant to change the conditions of life. The church teaches that shame does not have the right to dictate the future, that believers are no longer orphans but belong, and that every person carries tremendous value. Its aim is to help people discover who they are and the abundant life God has set them free to experience.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, composed of sixty-six books in the Old and New Testaments. Scripture is held to be infallible and to have unique, full, and final authority in matters of faith and practice. The church affirms one true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is affirmed as the eternal Son of God who became human through miraculous conception and virgin birth. His life of perfect obedience led to his voluntary death on the cross, atoning for sin as the substitute for all who trust in him. The church also affirms his physical resurrection, ascension, and future personal and visible return to fulfill prophecy and God's eternal plan.

Salvation is the wholly free work of God's grace, not something accomplished by human effort. Through faith in Jesus, believers inherit eternal life and become members of Christ's body, sons and daughters of the living God. Empowered by grace through the Word and guided by the council of the Holy Spirit, lives change. The vision is not only to know God but to make him known, with a heart to see people in the greater Saratoga area saved, set free, empowered, and released.

Prayer That Spreads Through the Week

Prayer is not confined to Sunday morning. The congregation gathers at 9:00 a.m. before worship to align hearts with God's plans, and corporate prayer is held for 30 minutes before each service. The prayer groups carry this emphasis into the rest of the week through gatherings for communion, spiritual warfare, and leadership.

  • The Prayer Room meets Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. These one-hour sessions set aside the week's agenda to cultivate communion with God. Each gathering is unique and Spirit-led.
  • Call to Arms meets Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. The group focuses on fighting the kingdom of darkness in God's way and coming against what stands against God's purpose for his church.
  • Supporting Arms meets Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. Its focus is strengthening leadership through prayer and welcoming the Lord's equipping and blessing over leaders' lives and calling.
  • Pre-Service Prayer meets Sundays at 9:00 a.m. as the congregation agrees with God's plans and aligns its heart and commitment to follow him.

These gatherings express the church's conviction that Jesus declared his Father's house to be a house of prayer. They also give people several ways to gather around that purpose during the week.

LifeGroups: Faith Grows Through Relationship

God created people for community because they need to encourage one another and be encouraged. The church's ministries extend that family calling by meeting both spiritual and physical needs. LifeGroups gather throughout the week in different locations, and an online group finder helps newcomers locate a meeting and reach its leader.

People who are hungry for the word, looking for community, and seeking support as they continue their faith walk meet as a church family. Groups give people a closer setting for conversation, prayer, care, and mutual encouragement, with leaders helping newcomers move from interest into participation.

LifeKids: From Nursery Through Middle School

LifeKids welcomes children through eighth grade for Bible-based lessons, fellowship, and learning about belonging to Jesus Christ. Its teachers want children to understand that they belong, find their value in community, and learn to encourage and strengthen one another as they grow. The classrooms are organized by age so lessons and activities can meet children where they are.

Nursery volunteers are trained to care for babies, give them a snack, play with them, and allow parents to stay fully engaged in the service. The Pre-K and Kindergarten room includes worship, Bible teaching, crafts, a snack, and play with other children.

Elementary children are divided into groups for grades one and two and grades three through five. Their time includes sharing the gospel, games, a lesson, and small-group interaction. For middle school students in grades six through eight, the church creates a safe place to talk about having a relationship with Jesus, understand the Bible, and build healthy community through games and conversation.

A short LifeKids check-in form can save time at the entrance, particularly for a first visit. The LifeKids team says, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." That conviction shapes the ministry's aim to help each child know Jesus, experience his love, and discover that they are known and valued within the church family.

The Tribe: A Place for Teens to Belong

The Tribe is the church's youth ministry for students in grades six through twelve. During the school year, it meets Sundays from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The goal is a community where every teenager is loved, valued, accepted, and heard, and where each young person can know God and pursue a saving relationship with him.

The church describes The Tribe's larger vision as a place where the gospel is preached, Christian community is formed, and the Holy Spirit moves. A typical evening may include a teaching, large-group discussion, small-group time, or worship. Monthly socials add games, pizza, and fellowship with friends, giving students another way to connect.

Domenic Cecconie leads both The Tribe and LifeKids, giving children and teenagers two ministries within the same leadership team. For students moving from LifeKids into their teen years, The Tribe continues the emphasis on biblical teaching, acceptance, healthy community, and a place where they are heard.

Kingsmen and Heart 2 Heart

The men's ministry, Kingsmen, gathers men young and old around three aims: building relationships, building healthy bridges between generations, and encouraging one another through discussion, prayer, and ministry. It seeks to equip men to live courageous faith and walk in the power of the Spirit to overcome challenges and influence the world around them.

A central emphasis is Christ-centered leadership in the home and community. The group believes such leadership does not happen automatically, so it looks to the Holy Spirit for preparation, growth, fellowship, and fun along the way. Chuck Tyree leads the ministry.

Heart 2 Heart, or H2H, is the women's ministry for women of all ages. Its gatherings celebrate the goodness of the Lord with worship, ministry to one another, and healthy discussions. The church wants H2H to develop healthy community by addressing diversity, age, and the struggle for significance. Centered on God, the ministry seeks to strengthen, comfort, and encourage women as they live out their calling. Jenn Dionne leads H2H.

The men's and women's ministries gather on a monthly rhythm, joining the church's wider pattern of worship, prayer, teaching, discussion, and fellowship.

Adventure Camp for Children

Adventure Camp extends the children's ministry into a summer week for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade. A typical day combines worship and ministry with crafts, games, team challenges, and an entertaining puppet show. Songs include actions, while activities include capture the flag, flag football, and sponge dodgeball.

The camp is open to the church family and the wider community; church membership is not required. Its purpose combines learning what it means to know Jesus with time to make lasting friendships. Children are encouraged to bring a friend within the grade range.

That mix of worship, play, and fellowship reflects the child-centered emphasis found throughout LifeKids. Each day gives campers a chance to sing, move, create, compete, and hear about Jesus in an setting built for their energy and attention.

Pastoral Leadership Across Generations

The church credits its leaders with being gifted, devoted to sharing the gospel, and caring deeply for people. Senior Pastor Glenn Dionne leads with humility and submission to the Holy Spirit's voice, while Jenn Dionne brings a particular heart for women and children, encouraging both groups to discover their worth and potential in Jesus.

Glenn's story connects deeply to the congregation. Born in Connecticut, he met Jenn in high school and spent 10 years in the Naval Nuclear program, which brought him to upstate New York. He attended Saratoga Abundant Life Church in 1995, was born again, and was ordained as Assistant Pastor in June 2007. He has served as Senior Pastor since his commissioning in August 2016.

Jenn invests herself in encouraging women and children to discover their full worth and potential in Jesus. Her leadership of H2H connects that conviction to the church's ministry among women, while her care for children is reflected in the family's life at the center of the congregation.

Alongside the pastoral family, the church names six elders in three couples: Frank and Karie Garrow, Jon and Charlene Padula, and Mark and Michelle Blow. Their service stands alongside LifeGroup leaders and other church volunteers in the church's emphasis on shared service and belonging.

Pastor Dale and Sue Jensen remain remembered as pioneering leaders. Pastor Joe and Beverly Galarneau are remembered for their long service, for mentoring men, and for continuing a small group together. Their histories are part of the story that brought the church from its first firehouse gathering to the Hutchins Road ministry.

Watch, Listen, and Give

The church's YouTube channel carries the live stream and sermon videos, including the Under the Hood video series, available around the clock. This gives people who cannot be in the room another way to encounter the worship and teaching offered by Saratoga Abundant Life Church. A church podcast is also available through Buzzsprout.

Giving can be made online, in person through a box on the way into the sanctuary, or through the Give tab in the Church Center app. These are the church's three practical routes for supporting its ministry.

At 2 Hutchins Road in Saratoga Springs, Saratoga Abundant Life Church remains a single-service church with a wide ministry life around that Sunday gathering. Since its first firehouse service in 1986, it has grown through worship, building renovations, prayer, teaching, family connection, and leadership succession. Its stated vision remains simple and far-reaching: to know God and make him known in the greater Saratoga area.
