From a Living Room Bible Study to Lindberg Road
Redeemer Baptist Church sits on Lindberg Road in Anderson, Indiana, in a facility the congregation has occupied since March 1991. The church itself grew out of something smaller. In October 1990, a small group began meeting for an outreach Bible study, and what started as a handful of believers around a table kept growing. Within five months, the group secured the present building. From the beginning, the focus has not been on programs or buildings but on reaching the lost and un-churched for Christ, and many lives and families have come to faith along the way.
Sundays at Redeemer
Sunday mornings follow a familiar Baptist rhythm. Sunday School gathers at 9:30 AM for groups that span every age, and the larger congregation comes together for Morning Worship at 10:45 AM. A third Sunday hour rounds out the day: Discipleship Training meets at 6:00 PM for those who want to dig deeper into Scripture and Christian living between Sundays.
Midweek on Wednesdays
Wednesday evenings are a busy time at Redeemer. At 6:30 PM the building fills with the sound of children arriving for AWANA, a club for kids from Pre-K through 6th grade that runs until 8 PM and follows the school calendar. The club blends Bible teaching, Scripture memorization and games, and trained leaders walk each child through age-appropriate material. Activities are also offered for youth in grades 7 through 12. There is no cost to join, and registration forms are available online. At 7:00 PM, while the children are still working through their handbooks, adults gather for a Prayer Meeting.
A Full Calendar of Small Groups
Redeemer sees itself as a church of friends rather than simply a friendly church, and the weekly calendar reflects that. Mondays belong largely to the women and men of the congregation. The Ladies Prayer Group meets at 9:00 AM, followed at 10:00 AM by the Ladies Bible Study and the Men's Bible Study, with an additional Ladies Bible Study in the evening at 6:00 PM. On Tuesdays at 5:30 PM, the J.O.Y. Fellowship (Jesus, Others, and You) opens its doors to every age for an evening of food, games and laughter. Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM also host Children in Action for grades 1 through 6, the Brotherhood for men, and S.A.L.T. (Senior Adults Living Triumphantly) for older adults who want encouragement, support and friendship.
Reaching Anderson and the Nations
The church's stated mission is to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ, and its vision is to reach the nations with the Good News beginning at home. Local ministries include spiritual counseling, a jail ministry, servant evangelism and other volunteer opportunities, plus a busy Outreach Director coordinating community connections. The missions vision extends well beyond Anderson. In 2023, Pastor Paul Storm connected with Pastor Mayonito Ganzon of Grace Baptist Church in Davao City, Philippines, who had been watching sermons online. The relationship grew into a video-call teaching arrangement and a partnership in which Redeemer provided $1,000 to fund one hundred food baskets for families whose children were attending Grace Baptist's weekly Bible and meal program.
What They Believe
Redeemer describes itself as a Southern Baptist church committed to the authority and relevance of the Bible as the inspired, infallible Word of God. Its statement of faith affirms one triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - the deity and virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection and personal return, and the work of the Holy Spirit in convicting and regenerating believers. Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone, not by works, and those who trust in Jesus are kept by God's power forever. The church recognizes two ordinances: believer's baptism by immersion, and the Lord's Supper. The statement also affirms the spiritual unity of all believers as the body of Christ and a final, personal, visible return of Jesus to judge the living and the dead.
Pastoral and Ministry Leadership
Pastor Paul Storm joined Redeemer Baptist in August 2023. A graduate of Clear Creek Bible College in Pineville, Kentucky, he previously pastored Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Laurel, Indiana for more than ten years and Crossroads of Life Baptist Church in Monticello, Indiana for nearly three, and most recently served as interim pastor at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church in Spiceland, Indiana. He and his wife Renae have five children, three sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law and six grandchildren.
The deacon team includes Don Sweigart (who also serves as Sunday School Director), Bob Hinton, Brad Storm, Larry Storm, Bob Johnson and Phil Storm. Pat Storm leads music as Music Director, with Lisa Storm at the piano. Durinda Abbott directs the Children's Ministry, Gary Gore directs Youth, and Tina Brooks leads Outreach. Pastoral messages and other teaching are shared online through the church's Facebook page and YouTube channel.
