Prince of Peace United Methodist Church is located in Manassas, Virginia, at 6299 Token Forest Drive and serves the Dale City, Manassas and Woodbridge area. Since 1982, it has grown as a congregation centered on family and belonging, with Sunday worship that blends traditional and contemporary music and fellowship at 11:00 AM.
A Dream of Family and Belonging
Prince of Peace was born from a dream in 1982, when the church was called to provide a sense of family and belonging in one of the nation's fastest-growing areas. Its members now come from nearly every state, as well as Africa, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean. The congregation includes the youngest children and senior saints, and its members are learning, leading and serving together. Together, they seek to grow closer to God and to their neighbors in Dale City, Manassas and Woodbridge. Its mission is: Seek Christ, share Christ and serve Christ, so that in Him we all may know peace.
A United Methodist Welcome
Prince of Peace is a United Methodist Church congregation, a connection of believers called to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The congregation serves a risen Lord who speaks God's love through the Bible, and members do not apologize for their beliefs. The church is not divided by politics or opinions. People do not have to share those beliefs to be welcome. Its welcome is expressed through walking, sharing and growing together, with no judgment, only God's love and the power to find new life.
9:45 AM: Traditional and Contemporary Worship
Sunday worship begins at 9:45 AM at 6299 Token Forest Drive and can be joined in person or through a live stream on PoP Facebook. The music blends traditional and contemporary elements to appeal to all age groups and worship styles. At 11:00 AM, the congregation gathers for fellowship after the service.
Lead Pastor TaeWon Kang and the Music Team
Lead Pastor TaeWon Kang leads Prince of Peace, a congregation in the Northern Virginia District of the Virginia Conference. Ministry in diverse cultural settings shaped his conviction that every person reflects the image of God and that Christ Jesus is the full embodiment of divine love. He is passionate about holistic care and forming Christ-centered communities where barriers fall and everyone is fully included. Kang was ordained in the Korean Methodist Church in 2005 and later recognized as an elder in full connection in the Virginia Conference in 2018. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Theology in Systematic Theology from Methodist Theological University in Seoul, and a Master of Divinity from Emory University's Candler School of Theology in Atlanta. Helen Wieder serves as church organist and choir director, while Tyler Mankin leads the praise team.
Back to School, Stockings and the Angel Tree
Prince of Peace actively supports its congregation and local community through several recurring projects:
- Back to School: Each August, the church gathers school supplies for a local school to distribute to children in need.
- Salvation Army Stockings: Each December, the congregation fills stockings for distribution by the Salvation Army.
- Angel Tree: In December, Prince of Peace works with Prince William County Social Services to provide gifts for children in the local community.
The church also provides support facilities for Boy Scout Troop 1196 and Cub Scout Pack 1373, both sponsored by the United Methodist Men.
A Building Shared with the Community
Prince of Peace offers its building for use by other community groups through a building-use request form. Its Safe Sanctuary policy was established to ensure a safe environment for all children in the care of the church's workers and volunteers. The congregation also accepts online giving by credit card or bank account.
From worship to scouting, school support and shared facilities, Prince of Peace remains rooted in its founding aim of family, belonging and service to Dale City, Manassas and Woodbridge.
