The Oasis Church meets at 8961 East Tanque Verde Road on the east side of Tucson, where it describes itself as an exegetical, gospel-centered, and elder-led congregation. Its mission is to glorify God through biblical preaching, deep relational community, and outreach to the world. Two Sunday services, a children's program called Oasis Kids, and a network of home groups meeting across the city form the rhythm of life here, all anchored in a detailed doctrinal statement that runs from the nature of Scripture to the sanctity of human life.
Sunday Mornings on East Tanque Verde Road
Worship services are held at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM at 8961 East Tanque Verde Road. Oasis Kids, the children's program for infants through sixth grade, runs alongside both services, so families can check children in for one service or stay for both. The church tells parents to relax: God put the wiggle in children, and packets with coloring and drawing activities sit at the back of the worship center for kids who need a quieter outlet. A commons room streams the service for nursing mothers and parents who want a private space.
Services are also livestreamed on YouTube, and the church welcomes first-time guests both in person and online. Visitors who want a feel for the preaching can sample recent sermons before they arrive, and the church keeps a podcast of its messages on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
Exegetical, Verse-by-Verse Teaching
The Oasis Church calls its preaching exegetical, meaning sermons walk verse by verse through books of the Bible rather than dipping between topics. Recent series include a long exposition of 1 Samuel, a study through Ephesians, and earlier series on Colossians, Judges, the Gospel of Mark, the Gospel of John, Philippians, Revelation, Ezekiel, Hosea, Joel, Nehemiah, and Selected Psalms. Advent seasons have produced their own dedicated series as well.
The worship is described as gospel-centered doctrinal worship, and the church curates an Oasis Worship playlist on Apple Music and Spotify to complement the preaching. The church maintains a long-running archive of sermons, and pastors frequently work through both Testaments in sequence.
The Elders Who Shepherd the Church
Six elders share leadership of the congregation. Scott Hutchison serves as the Teaching Pastor, Travis Roper as the Equipping Pastor, and Conner Julian as the Worship Arts Pastor. They are joined by Pat Choi, Joseph Rodawold Jr., and Scott Gordon as elders. Together this team oversees the preaching, teaching, music, and pastoral care of the church at 8961 East Tanque Verde Road.
Home Groups: Where the Living Runs Deep
Home groups are the essential DNA of The Oasis Church. The church teaches that the Christian is not meant to walk alone, and small groups meet in living rooms across the Tucson area to study the Bible, pray for one another, and pursue relationship with Jesus together. This is where the living runs deep is the way the ministry describes itself.
Several groups run on weeknights, and the church keeps a coordinated schedule so members can find a group that fits their life stage and location. On Mondays, the Polk and Danson group meets from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, reviews the previous Sunday's sermon, and works through the church Bible Reading Plan, setting aside the final thirty minutes for prayer. Light snacks are provided.
Tuesdays host four groups. The Bredehoft group in the Vail area runs from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM with cost-shared childcare and is multi-generational. The Hutchison group, led by the Teaching Pastor, is geared toward young adults and runs from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM with dessert and the Bible Reading Plan. The Julian group serves food at 6:00 PM and begins study at 6:30 PM, following the Sunday sermon series in a Bible-study village model where families study together. The Choi group gathers from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM for Bible study and fellowship.
On Thursdays, the Gordon and Bilbo group meets at 7:00 PM with light snacks and a monthly potluck. Fridays bring two groups that use the S.O.A.P. Bible study method for accountability: the Bornholdt and Danson group at 7:00 PM and the Rodawold group at 6:30 PM, both sharing light desserts during study. The church lists each leader's contact information so newcomers can connect with the group that fits.
Oasis Kids
Oasis Kids welcomes children from infancy through sixth grade at both the 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM Sunday services. Parents can check their children in for one hour or stay for both. Children are always welcome in the main worship gathering, and the back of the worship center holds activity packets for young children who need a quiet activity. A commons room with the service streamed live is available for nursing mothers and parents who need a place to step out.
The church tells parents that the way children are welcomed in church shapes the way they respond to the church, to God, and to one another, and encourages families to let them know they are at home in this house of worship.
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
The Oasis Church practices two ordinances as acts of obedience to Christ. Believer's baptism by immersion is a symbol of faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior and serves as a prerequisite for church membership and for participation in the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper is a memorial meal of bread and the fruit of the vine, recalling the Redeemer's death and anticipating His second coming.
Essential Doctrines
The Oasis Church holds to a detailed doctrinal statement rooted in the Bible as God's inerrant and trustworthy revelation of Himself. Scripture has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter, and it is the supreme standard by which all Christian conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried.
There is one true God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who created the universe and reigns over it with providential care. God the Father is Father in truth to those who become His children through faith in Jesus Christ. God the Son, the eternal Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; He perfectly revealed and did the will of God, made provision for redemption through His substitutionary death on the cross, was raised from the dead with a glorified body, ascended to the right hand of God, and will return in power and glory to judge the world. God the Holy Spirit inspired the Scriptures, illuminates truth, convicts of sin, regenerates, baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ, seals believers unto final redemption, and bestows spiritual gifts for worship, evangelism, and service.
Human beings are made in the image of God, but by free choice entered into sin and brought sin into the human race, leaving every person under condemnation and in need of grace. Salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. Election is the gracious purpose of God, and all true believers endure to the end, kept by the power of God through faith.
The New Testament church is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, governed by elders and deacons. While both men and women are gifted for service, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by the New Testament. The Oasis Church affirms the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ in power and glory, the resurrection of the dead, final judgment, and the eternal state of the redeemed in heaven and the unrighteous in hell. Marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, children are a blessing from the Lord, and every human life from conception to natural death possesses full dignity. The church also affirms religious liberty, the separation of church and state, and the duty of Christians to seek peace and oppose war.

Sermons Online and the Oasis Worship Playlist
The church maintains a full sermon archive on YouTube, with messages from Scott Hutchison, Travis Roper, and Conner Julian. The Oasis Worship playlist complements the preaching on Apple Music and Spotify, and the church is active on Facebook and Instagram throughout the week.
