One Big Family on Six Mile Road
Set on Six Mile Road in Northville, Michigan, Northville Christian Assembly is an Assemblies of God congregation that gathers each Sunday under a three-part motto: See the Lost Saved, Make Disciples, Reach the Nations. With a Christian school on the same campus and a packed weekly calendar of family ministries, recovery groups, and a foster-children camp, the church has built a multi-generational rhythm that draws in kids, students, young adults, and anyone working through grief and addiction.
Both the church and Northville Christian School operate from the same campus at 41355 Six Mile Road, Northville, MI 48168, where classrooms, a café, a gym, and a sanctuary host everything from Sunday worship to a Christ-centered recovery group that meets on weeknights.
Sunday Mornings at Ten
The weekly Sunday service begins at 10:00 AM and runs about an hour and a half. The format features contemporary worship, a time of biblical teaching, and an opportunity to make a decision to follow Jesus Christ. Greeters stationed throughout the building help newcomers find their way, and families worship together before children head off to their own programming.
Children from birth through pre-kindergarten get an age-appropriate Christ-centered experience near the sanctuary, while elementary-age kids in kindergarten through fifth grade take part in a large-group service that includes games, worship, a scripturally-based message, and other activities.
For those who cannot attend in person, the 10:00 AM service is livestreamed on YouTube, and a video library of past messages is available on the same channel.
Beliefs: The Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths
The congregation subscribes to the 16 non-negotiable truths of the Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths. These summary truths run as follows.
The Bible is inspired by God and serves as the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. There is one true God who exists as a Trinity. Jesus Christ, as the second person of the Trinity, is fully God. Humanity was created good but was separated from God through original sin. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ.
Two ordinances are observed: believer's baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is taught as a separate and subsequent experience following conversion, with speaking in tongues as the initial physical evidence. Sanctification is understood as a process of continual yielding to the Holy Spirit rather than a second definite work of grace.
The Church's mission is to seek and save all who are lost in sin and to function as the Body of Christ, made up of all who accept Christ regardless of Christian denomination. Divine healing of the sick is provided for in the atonement. The imminent and blessed hope of the Church is the rapture preceding the bodily return of Christ, followed by a thousand-year millennial reign, a final judgment, and the promise of new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Pastoral Team
Ben Murray serves as Lead Pastor and oversees the congregation. The pastoral staff also includes James Loruss (Worship and Arts Pastor), Isaiah Bronson (Operations Pastor), Amanda Spees (Youth Pastor), Christian Spees (Junior High Youth Pastor), and Elizabeth Hunt, who carries two portfolios as Children's Pastor and Young Adults Pastor.
NC Kids: From Birth Through Fifth Grade
Children's ministry, branded NC Kids, fills the calendar with two weekly touchpoints. Sunday mornings offer a Christ-centered program for the littlest ones near the sanctuary and an elementary experience packed with games, worship, and scripture.
Wednesday nights shift to a discipleship focus. From 7:00 to 8:30 PM, elementary-age students learn skills to spread the gospel in the world around them, while younger children enjoy lessons and games designed to plant the joy and love of Christ in their hearts. Programs take place in the upstairs Kids rooms.
NC Youth: Wednesday Nights for 6th Through 12th Graders
NC Youth meets at 7:00 PM on Wednesday nights in the sanctuary, welcoming 6th through 12th graders to an evening service with worship, small groups, and a message. Once a year the youth group devotes a full month to outreach, filling Wednesday nights with games, prizes, fun, and an emphasis on inviting friends.
Mustard Seed Young Adults: Saturday Nights in the Café
College students and career-age adults gather under the name Mustard Seed Young Adults every Saturday at 6:30 PM in the church café. The format blends worship and teaching with small-group discussions, games, and time for community. Pastor Elizabeth Hunt oversees the ministry and invites anyone looking for a weekly Saturday home to come as they are.
Recovery and Grief Support
Two weeknight ministries serve people walking through some of life's hardest seasons.
Celebrate Recovery meets Thursday nights at 7:00 PM in the café. A Christ-centered, Bible-based program, it draws on eight principles from the Beatitudes and the twelve steps with their Biblical comparisons to bring hope and healing to anyone struggling with hurts, hang-ups, or destructive habits. The program recognizes Jesus Christ as the only higher power who by His grace and power is able to heal, set free, and transform.
GriefShare provides a 13-week path through the grief process for those who have lost a loved one. The group meets at 6:45 PM on Wednesday evenings in Room G-05 and combines teaching with shared experience. Both ministries are open to anyone in the wider community.
Groups, Classes, and Bible Studies
The church organizes its small-group life around the simple conviction that life is meant to be done together. Life Groups match a person's stage of life and interests, and Wednesday nights add a stack of elective classes.
Weekly offerings include:
- Life in the Vine Fellowship, a prayer and Bible study led by Rick Holychuck, meeting Sundays from 8:30 to 9:45 AM in Room G-03 before the main service.
- Love and Respect, a ten-week marriage enrichment class led by Bob and Sue Wright on Sunday mornings, with childcare available in the gym.
- Ladies Bible Study, Tuesday mornings in the café.
- Men's Bible Study, Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM in Room G-13.
- Eight-week electives on the Gospel of John and on hard questions of the Christian faith, both on Wednesday evenings.
- Celebrate Recovery on Thursday nights.
Topics rotate with the seasons, ranging from scriptural depth and tough questions about Christian faith to marriage enrichment.
Royal Family Kids: Foster Children Camp and Mentoring
Northville Christian is the local home for Royal Family Kids, a five-day summer camp and ongoing mentoring program for children in the foster care system. The camp weaves its activities through Trust-Based Relational Intervention to foster resiliency, self-esteem, hope, and positive memories. Camp directors Mike and Bethann Parker lead the program, and a separate mentoring track is run by Brian and Carol Ann Kiel.
Giving, Missions, and Benevolence
A benevolence process exists to help church members and regular attenders in genuine financial crisis. Missions is woven into the life of the church with a few weeks of emphasis each year, including visits from missionaries currently serving overseas and a Missions Market on the church campus. Online giving is available through the church's giving portal, and serve teams are open to anyone who wants to help with the many programs that run throughout the week.
Getting Connected
A Connect Card is available for newcomers to share their contact information, sign up for the next water baptism service, or join a Life Group, a Serve Team, or a ministry like GriefShare or Celebrate Recovery. A prayer team receives requests online.
