Seeking Jesus, Building Community on Jeremiah Boulevard
Northside Church sits at 333 Jeremiah Boulevard in northeast Charlotte, just off the city's growing corridor in the 28262 ZIP code. The congregation takes its identity from a simple motto printed across its homepage: Seeking Jesus | Building Community. Members describe the church as a place where they are "constantly challenged, motivated, and inspired to grow deeper in your relationship with God, develop meaningful and life giving relationships, and use your talents to expand God's Kingdom." Sunday mornings have a casual, faith-filled feel, and Senior Pastor Michael Landrum often tells first-time guests, "Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our special guest."
Northside's ministry footprint stretches well past its own walls. Through its Life Project outreach arm, the church partners with schools, rescue missions, civic groups and other congregations to serve the surrounding Hidden Valley neighborhood and beyond. The same mission statement, "Follow Jesus. Love People.", gives shape to everything from Sunday worship to the food pantry and clothing closet that operate on site.
Worship on Sundays and Wednesdays
The rhythm of the week centers on three regular touchpoints.
Sunday mornings begin with Life Groups at 9:15am, when adults gather in classrooms across the campus for Bible study, conversation and prayer. Several groups meet in C-Wing rooms (C-105, C-111), and leaders like Tim Chavel and Ross Unger host their own morning groups alongside one led by Pastor Robert Clark. At 10:30am the congregation moves into the Worship Center for the Sunday Worship Service, a contemporary gathering that combines music from the church's worship band and choir with preaching from Pastor Michael. Services are livestreamed on the Northside Charlotte YouTube channel, and a back catalog of more than 275 messages is available there for catch-up viewing.
Midweek, a Wednesday Night Prayer Group meets at 6pm in room A-105. Members gather to pray for one another, the church and the wider community. The Sunday schedule is rounded out by a youth gathering, Sunday Night Live, held every other Sunday at 5pm in the Fine Arts Center.
Northside Kidz: Infants Through Fifth Grade
Northside Kidz runs alongside the worship service for children from infants through fifth grade. Classrooms are divided by age: Infants and Crawlers (0 to 2 years), Walkers (2 to 4 years), the Little Kidz Group (Kindergarten through 2nd grade) and the Big Kidz Group (3rd through 5th grade). On Sundays the Preschool Ministry (0 to 4) meets in C-Wing and the Graded Kid's Ministry (K-5) meets in the B-Wing at the HUB, both at 10:30am.
Teachers use the Orange Curriculum, which walks children through the Bible from beginning to end, combining a big-picture overview with the sequential order of events. The goal, according to the children's ministry page, is "deeper learning of biblical truths, practical steps to living out their faith, and of course - a little fun while learning." During the Christmas season, the Kidz choir joins the main worship service for a special kids' Christmas performance, one of the highlights of the year.
Youth Ministry and Coffee & Christ
Older students have a ministry built around real relationship and honest questions. Sunday Night Live meets every other Sunday at 5pm in the Fine Arts Center. The gathering is described as "high-energy, truth-centered" and "designed for students to worship, open Scripture, ask honest questions, and grow together in real community." Beyond Sunday nights the youth group travels together, takes mission and fun trips, hosts overnight campus hangouts and attends festivals and events.
A separate ministry called Coffee & Christ meets on Tuesday nights at various local coffee shops. Led by Pastor Robert Clark and members of the Deacon Body, it is a weekly discipleship gathering for young men that focuses on Scripture, apologetics, prayer and the daily realities of walking with Christ. Students register for Sunday Night Live through the church's Church Center registration page.
Men's and Women's Ministries
Northside's Men's Ministry brings men of all ages together for fellowship and Bible study, rooted in Proverbs 27:17 ("As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend"). The ministry hosts multiple events and ongoing studies throughout the year.
The Women's Ministry, branded simply "Northside Women," aims to equip women "to become fully devoted, intentional servants of Christ who embrace community, love gracefully, and pursue the truth of Scripture." Each year the group selects a theme verse - the current focus is 1 John 4:18, "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear" - and welcomes women of all ages, cultures and backgrounds. Bible studies meet on multiple rhythms: an "Unshakable Moxie" study on alternating Mondays in room A-106, a Kristi McLelland video study through the Gospel of Luke on the second and fourth Mondays led by Jenna Knox, a monthly gathering on the second Saturday from 10am to noon in A-Wing room 105 led by Ramona Libby, and a third Saturday study of "Joy! A Study in Philippians" by Susan Larson at the same location.
Worship Through Music
The Northside Music Ministry, described by the church as a "diverse community of passionate individuals dedicated to leading our congregation into heartfelt worship," runs three ensembles.
The Worship Choir leads the congregation in worship from the stage and is open to singers age 16 and up (younger singers join by audition). The choir rehearses Wednesday nights by invitation and Sunday mornings at 9:30am in the Worship Center. Praise Singers are auditioned choir members with strong voices who read music and sing solos; they rehearse Thursday nights and Sunday mornings at 9am. The Worship Band serves the church weekly and welcomes any instrument by audition; rehearsals are Thursday nights and Sunday mornings at 9am. The music ministry emphasizes authenticity, excellence and a heart for God, and offers spaces for both seasoned musicians and those just beginning to explore their gifts.
Northside Communities and Life Groups
Northside describes its small-group ministry as the best place to be known. Northside Communities include Sunday morning Life Groups in C-Wing rooms, the Wednesday Night Prayer Group in A-105, and additional groups that meet throughout the week. Groups for preschool families, kids, youth, adults and women include several Sunday morning Bible studies built around studying Old Testament characters and other passages.
Groups are designed so that "friendships are formed" and participants "can find a supportive community where you're valued, cherished, and supported." Members are encouraged to look over the lineup of communities and try several before settling into one.
Life Project: Outreach Beyond the Walls
Northside's Life Project is the church's strategic outreach arm, focused on the transformation of local communities with special emphasis on the Hidden Valley area. It runs through four channels.
The Community Learning Lab partners with the Steve Smith Foundation to provide a virtual learning lab for homeless Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students who need a place to continue their education. The ROC (Rebuilding Opportunities in Construction) partners with a local program to give high school students hands-on training in HVAC, carpentry and electrical wiring and the chance to earn OSHA certification.
The Food Security ministry runs a food pantry that works with the Brookwood and Econolodge hotels to put food in the hands of those who need it. Two named efforts include Esther's Heart, a monthly food donation and meal service for students at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, and a weekly food share with Faith CME. The Clothing Closet keeps an on-site inventory of clothing available year round to families in surrounding communities, supported by a wide list of community partners.
Northside lists a long roster of outreach partners, including CMPD, Common Wealth, Johnson & Wales, the Charlotte Rescue Mission programs Rebound, Hope Haven and Dove's Nest, Atrium, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Rapid Response, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, Loaves and Fishes, Esther's Heart, Convoy of Hope, WSOC, the Steve Smith Foundation, Crisis Assistance, Goodwill, Stonebridge Church, Faith CME, Parkwood Church and the Char Meck Fire Department.
Missions Around the World
Beyond Charlotte, Northside embraces its role as "Ambassadors to Reach the World." The church currently supports 30 missionaries and 4 organizations, with people serving on five continents as well as in the Pacific and Caribbean regions. Each year the church holds an annual missions conference, giving members a chance to interact with, encourage and pray for missionary families. Giving toward missions is available through the Subsplash giving platform.
Senior Adults and Care
Northside takes seriously the care of its older members. The Senior Adult Monthly Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 10:30am in the Fine Arts Center; the program includes lunch and entertainment for a $5 cost at the door and is open to both members and the community.
The Senior Singles Ministry gathers widows, widowers, divorced seniors and others on the second Tuesday of each month for a special program that may include a local activity, a bus trip or a day outing. The Care Visitation ministry organizes seasoned members to visit shut-ins and the sick at home or in the hospital, both as an encouragement and as a meaningful way to stay connected.
Game Day, a casual fellowship for older adults, meets on the third Friday of every month from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the HUB.
What Northside Believes
The church maintains a detailed statement of faith. Northside believes in one God eternally existent in three equal but distinct persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). It confesses the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, whose work includes conviction, regeneration, baptism, indwelling, sealing and filling. The church teaches that Spirit baptism takes place at regeneration and that the filling of the Spirit is manifested by the fruit of the Spirit rather than by any specific spiritual gift.
The 66 books of the Bible are received as the inspired, inerrant Word of God in the original autographs and as the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Northside teaches that all people are sinners by nature and under God's condemnation, and that the only remedy is Holy Spirit regeneration through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, who atoned for the sins of the world through His death, burial and bodily resurrection.
The church is described as "a living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and of which all regenerated people are members." A local church is defined as a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized by immersion after an acceptable confession of faith and associated for worship, work and fellowship. Two offices are recognized: pastor and deacon. Two ordinances are observed throughout the church age: baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper, with the Supper always preceded by a period of self-examination.
Salvation is described as involving regeneration, justification, sanctification and glorification, offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
Plan a Visit, Serve, Stay Connected
Sunday mornings are designed to be easy for newcomers. Come at 9:15am for a Life Group or slip in for the 10:30am worship service. Children's programming is available for the full range from infants through fifth grade. A Plan a Visit page on the church's site invites guests to share a bit about themselves so the church can prepare to welcome them.
For those who want to get involved beyond Sunday mornings, Serve opportunities include kids, youth, young adults and special events. Giving is handled online through Subsplash, and the church maintains a mobile app on both the Apple App Store and Google Play under "Northside Charlotte." Messages stream on YouTube, and registration for events runs through the church's Church Center.
Northside Academy for Early Learning, a separate organization linked from the navigation, operates as an early-learning ministry on or near the campus.
