A Foursquare Family on Seventh Avenue: New Life Chapel, Hesperia

Pentecostal Church in Hesperia, California

New Life Chapel is a Foursquare congregation in Hesperia, California that worships in English on Sunday mornings and Spanish on Sunday afternoons, with a Wednesday night program for the whole family and outreach ministries that serve the High Desert community.

About New Life Chapel

Foursquare Faith on Seventh Avenue

New Life Chapel meets at 10184 Seventh Avenue in Hesperia, a Foursquare congregation whose church family fills two campuses on either side of the street. The pastoral team frames everything the church does around one call from Joshua 3:5: "Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow the Lord will do an amazing thing among you." New Life Chapel is part of the Foursquare Church movement and aligns with the Foursquare Declaration of Faith, affirming Jesus Christ as Savior, Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, Healer, and Soon-Coming King, and standing on the foundation of Hebrews 13:8 that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Worship here is Spirit filled and authentic, led by a team that aims to bring people into the presence of God rather than put on a performance. Teaching centers on the truth of God's Word, presented in a way that is relevant and down-to-earth, with the church's mission summed up as helping people become fully devoted followers of Christ. The congregation includes all ages and stages: families, singles, married couples, young people, and mature believers from many different backgrounds and ethnicities.

A Sunday at 10, and Three O'Clock in Spanish

Sunday mornings begin at 10:00 AM with the main worship service. New Life Chapel livestreams the 10:00 AM gathering on Facebook and YouTube, and the most recent Sunday morning service is posted afterward for anyone who missed it.

Spanish-speaking believers gather for Servicio en Español on Sundays at 3:00 PM in the Youth Building across the street from the main sanctuary. The two-language rhythm means the church is serving both longtime families and the Spanish-speaking community of the High Desert.

First-time visitors can expect a warm greeting at the door, help checking in children, and a seat wherever they feel comfortable. Parking is available on site, and the address at 10184 Seventh Avenue is easy to reach from anywhere in Hesperia. Visitors are invited to fill out a First Time Visitor card online so the church can answer any questions that come up after the visit.

Wednesday Nights for the Whole Family

Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM turn the church into a learning community for every age. Adults choose from a lineup of Bible study classes on the SW Campus. Classroom 10 hosts a Rooted series designed for new believers who want to explore foundational Christian truths and build strong roots in their faith. An Esther Bible Study through Women's Ministry meets in Classroom 1, walking women through the book of Esther to deepen their understanding of God's providence and purpose.

Those who have lost a loved one find a grief support group meeting in the KidCheck room on the SW Campus, offering hope, healing, and community through the journey of loss. Kids Church and NLC Youth run alongside the adult studies at the same hour, so the whole family can be in Bible study together before heading home.

NLC Kids and the Bible Bucks Store

NLC Kids meets at 10:00 AM on Sundays and 6:30 PM on Wednesdays with the goal of helping kids become fully devoted followers of Christ. The ministry rests on Jesus' words in Matthew 19:14: "Let the little children come to me. Don't keep them away. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them." From Genesis to Revelation, kids explore God's Word through play, worship, crafts, and Bible lessons, while parents are encouraged to keep training their children in the Lord at home. The ministry also helps parents follow Psalm 78 by passing faith down to the next generation.

Every volunteer who works with children completes a written application, a background check, and California's AB506 mandated reporter training, so families can know their kids are loved and taught in a safe environment. Check-in runs through KidCheck, a secure system that lets parents register with their family and use their phone number each week to drop off and pick up their children. The Children's Director writes, "We are glad to welcome you to Children's Ministries! Before attending please sign-up for a KidCheck account (if you have not already done so). The secure KidCheck account will allow you to easily check-in your child every time you come to church by simply using your phone number. Thank you so much for your help in these matters!"

Kids earn Bible Bucks for attending church, memorizing their Bible verse for the week, bringing a friend, bringing their Bible, and learning the Power Verse. They spend those Bible Bucks at the Bible Bucks Store, which opens on Sundays by grade level: Pre-K and Kindergarten on the first Sunday, first and second grade on the second Sunday, and third through fifth grade on the third Sunday. The church keeps the store stocked through an Amazon wishlist so families and supporters can contribute gifts for the children.

NLC Youth Across the Street

Middle and high school students in grades 6 through 12 have their own corner of the church under Jonathan, the Youth Director. On Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM, youth join the congregation for worship and then walk across the street to the youth room, where they engage with messages aimed at their stage of life and discuss the sermon together.

Wednesday nights at 6:00 PM bring games, café food for purchase, worship, and Bible-centered lessons. As Jonathan puts it, the goal is to empower grades 6 through 12 for the future, give the next generation a firm foundation, and help young people encounter God and know Him deeply. NLC Youth keeps an active presence on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube so families can stay connected between weeks.

Friday Nights in Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery meets every Friday at 7:00 PM in the Youth Building across the street from the main church. The program traces its roots to 1991, when John Baker shared his vision with Pastor Rick Warren at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. The first night drew 43 people, and the ministry has since grown into a worldwide movement with thousands of churches and over 5 million people who have completed a Step Study.

New Life Chapel is part of that movement. Celebrate Recovery is built on Step Studies called The Journey Begins and The Journey Continues, walking participants through the healing power of Jesus Christ for the hurts, hang-ups, and habits they carry. Anna Tarwater and Anaelisa Maslowski serve as the ministry's directors at New Life Chapel and can be reached through cr@newlifechapel.com.

Groceries on the Second Saturday

On the second Saturday of every month, New Life Chapel partners with the High Desert Food Collaborative to hand out essential groceries and canned goods to families in need. Distribution runs from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM as a drive-thru pickup on the SW Campus, with cars lining up on 8th Street at the corner of 8th and Hercules until the gate opens. Each family receives a bag of groceries and prayer for any needs they bring with them.

The food ministry is open to all High Desert residents, who must pre-register in the church office with Rosie Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the weeks before that month's pickup. Registration requires a valid state-issued ID showing residency, or a utility bill if the ID is not current.

Out on Thursdays with the Homeless Ministry

Every Thursday, rain or shine, a team led by Jeremy White heads out to serve people experiencing homelessness in the community. They provide meals, offer clothes, and do whatever they can to minister to those they meet. The goal is to show compassion and bring hope, meeting practical needs while opening the door to spiritual conversation. Volunteers can sign up to join the team, and anyone with questions can reach the ministry at homeless@newlifechapel.com.

Men's and Women's Bible Studies

The men's ministry gathers around Bible study and brotherhood, opening with a Winston Churchill quote: "Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others." Men meet for breakfast on the first Saturday of every month at 7:30 AM, and Bible studies run throughout the week. Pastor Ed Salazar leads a Tuesday morning study at 10:00 AM in the Conference Room, while Jason Trombley leads a Tuesday evening study at 7:00 PM in SW Campus Room 2.

The women's ministry hosts a Ladies Tea and a slate of Bible studies. Tracy D leads a Tuesday morning study at 10:00 AM in SW Campus Room 1, Chris P leads a Tuesday evening study at 6:30 PM in the same room, and Shannon Edwards leads a Wednesday study at both 10:30 AM and 6:30 PM in SW Campus Room 1. The Esther Bible Study, part of Women's Ministry, also meets during the week.

New Believers and Water Baptism

Anyone who has just given their heart to Jesus, or rededicated their life to the Lord, can walk through an eight-lesson New Believers study. The series covers repentance and faith, sin and forgiveness, God the Father, Jesus the Son, the Word of God, prayer, Satan and spiritual warfare, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The church also provides a separate teaching on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit to help new believers understand what the Bible says about this experience.

Water baptism is open to anyone who wants to follow the Lord's commandment. Candidates are asked to wear dark colors and bring a change of clothes and a towel for the baptism service, which is held at 10:00 AM after a baptism class earlier that morning in the conference room.

Giving and Staying Connected

The church teaches tithing as an act of obedience, grounded in Proverbs 3:9-10, Matthew 6:25-26, Psalm 24:1, and Philippians 4:19. Giving online is available through Pushpay, and gifts can also be placed in the slots in the back of the sanctuary or brought to the office during business hours. Checks can be mailed to 10184 Seventh Avenue, Hesperia, CA 92345.

The church office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Visitors and regular attenders can check in online, fill out a First Time Visitor card, or submit a prayer request online. The New Life Chapel app is available on the Apple App Store, and the church keeps an active presence on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, with services livestreamed at 10:00 AM each Sunday. The office can be reached at (760) 244-9050 or info@newlifechapel.com.
