Mid-Cities Church is one church with five campuses across Midland and Odessa, Texas, known for energetic worship, practical biblical teaching, and ministries that reach people from infancy through their fifties. Its mission reads in three short lines: Love God. Love People. Make Disciples. The church has been helping people connect to God and to community since 1982, and it describes its work as helping each person find a place and purpose in God's family. A first-time guest can expect a service of about 60 to 65 minutes, safe children's ministry for kids from birth through elementary age, and English or Spanish gatherings at 9:30 and 11:00 AM on Sundays.
Five Campuses Between Midland and Odessa
Mid-Cities organizes its gatherings as campuses of one congregation rather than as separate churches. Four campuses meet in Midland and one in Odessa, and every campus holds Sunday services at 9:30 and 11:00 AM.
- 191 English - 8700 TX-191, Midland, TX 79707, with services at 9:30 and 11:00 AM.
- 191 Español - 8700 TX-191, Midland, TX 79707, with Spanish-language services at 9:30 and 11:00 AM.
- Neely Campus - 3309 Neely Ave, Midland, TX 79707, with services at 9:30 and 11:00 AM.
- North Midland - 6801 Pioneer Rd, Midland, TX 79707, meeting at Lone Star Trails Elementary with children's ministry from birth to fifth grade.
- Odessa Español - 2409 Walnut Ave, Odessa, TX 79761, with Spanish-language services at 9:30 and 11:00 AM.
A sixth gathering point, Church Online, carries the same Sunday rhythm at 9:30 and 11:00 AM for people who cannot be in the room. Sermon messages and whole services are archived on Vimeo, with recent messages also on YouTube and in a podcast. The church's office is at 3001 N. Big Spring St in Midland, open Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
A Service of Worship, Teaching, Prayer, and Connection
Mid-Cities tells guests what a typical Sunday looks like: about 60 to 65 minutes with energetic worship, a biblical and practical message, and opportunities for prayer and connection. The Spanish-language description adds that the worship is Spirit-led and that sermons usually follow a series with a biblical base, practical steps, and the good news of Jesus, alongside chances to pray and be ministered to.
Lead Pastor Daniel Stephens describes the heart of Mid-Cities as loving God, loving people, and making disciples in an authentic, intentional, and Spirit-led way. The church is candid with newcomers about who it is and is not: "We aren't perfect and don't pretend to be. You are welcome as you are!"
Families can plan the morning around children's ministry. Kids from birth through elementary grade are checked in at a check-in station before a service or event and join a dedicated ministry environment while adults attend, and middle school through college students are welcome to stay in the service itself.
English and Spanish: Two Congregations
Spanish ministry is a substantial part of Mid-Cities, with two campuses serving Spanish-speaking families: 191 Español on TX-191 in Midland and Odessa Español on Walnut Ave in Odessa. Olaf Luna is campus pastor at 191 Español and Filo Galindo is campus pastor at Odessa Español, and the mission carries into Spanish as Amar a Dios, amar a la gente, hacer discípulos.
The Spanish welcome lays out three steps for getting started: visit a Mid-Cities campus and park in the designated "Nuevo Aquí" space, connect with God and with other people, and then live life with Jesus. It also answers the question that keeps many people away, saying that a person does not need to believe what Mid-Cities believes in order to begin connecting, while making the church's own statement of faith available to anyone who wants to see what it teaches.
Spanish-speaking families have their own route through the church, including Próximos Pasos classes, small groups, giving in Spanish, and Iglesia En Linea for those who gather from home. Spanish-speaking group leaders can pick up free conversation resources, apply to lead a group, and locate a group through the church's group finder, and those who already lead groups receive extra resources and connection through a dedicated Facebook group.
Mid-Cities Kids, From Birth to Fifth Grade
Children's ministry runs under the Mid-Cities Kids name, divided into Early Childhood for birth through kindergarten and Elementary for first through fifth grade. Every child is checked in at a check-in station before a service or event, and the description of the work is simple: engaging children, families, and communities with the Gospel for generations to come.
Elementary families get a Kids One2One book to help kids get started following Jesus, and Kid's Small Groups, where children experience the Bible and relationships. Extreme Kids Camp is the summer highlight for elementary children, and the camp program includes counselor sign-ups and a partnership route for adults who want to help send a student.
New parents can sign up for a Baby Dedication Class to celebrate the arrival of a baby, and Parent's Day Out operates at three locations across Midland and Odessa with a vision of partnering with parents to give children a head start in education and in God's word. Updates and resources for the Early Childhood and Elementary ministries are shared on Facebook.
Middle School, High School, and the College Campus
Mid-Cities Youth serves sixth through twelfth graders, with the aim of helping youth become a "Mid-Citizen" connected to community and purpose in Christ. High school students meet on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, and middle school students meet on Sundays from 10:30 to 11:45 AM. Every Nation Youth Camp is the summer highlight for middle school and high school students, and volunteers join the youth team through its Dream Team.
College students gather through Every Nation Campus, or ENC, a global movement across college campuses that exists to honor God and make disciples. ENC Monday Nights meet at the 191 campus during the school year from 7 to 8:30 PM for discovering more about God and what it looks like to be in community, with a free dinner, games, and a speaker. Text reminders are available for the gathering, and a campus missionary team serves students alongside the ENC campus director.
Life Groups in Homes, Coffee Shops, and Classrooms
Mid-Cities says plainly that growing spiritually does not happen alone, and its Life Groups meet in homes, coffee shops, and other everyday places throughout the week. There are groups for couples, men, women, and college-age adults ages 18 to 24.
On Wednesday nights at 7 PM, Equip Groups gather in classrooms at a Mid-Cities campus for eight weeks of community and meaningful connection. The lineup covers biblical foundations through Grow 301, money and stewardship through Financial Peace, hearing God and experiencing his power through forgiveness and faith through Free Indeed, fatherhood through Husbands and Fathers, and marriage through Marriage Prep.
Next Steps: A Four-Class Path Into the Church
For people who want a guided start, Mid-Cities offers a four-class path called Next Steps. Welcome 101 introduces the church's story and what it means to be connected, with free lunch and children's ministry for children from birth to fifth grade while youth are welcome to attend. Discover 201 looks at how God has designed and gifted each person to make a difference, and after that class a person can join a Dream Team. Grow 301 builds biblical foundations while giving participants a taste of being part of a group at Mid-Cities. Lead 401 asks what it looks like to lead like Jesus in the family, in the community, at Mid-Cities, and in God's kingdom, and it requires the first three classes.
Participants describe the classes in their own terms. Laurie French says, "Grow 301 brought me a deeper understanding of my faith," and explains that she learned God gave her unique spiritual gifts and opened her eyes to how he will use them to minister to others. Kylee Staiger says she left Lead 401 with the confidence to lead the way the Lord was calling her to lead, adding that leadership requires getting down in the trenches.
Men's Breakfast, Women's Groups, and IGNITE for 50 and Older
Men's ministry works to help men connect with God and with each other, and its monthly breakfast has become a fixture: Saturdays at 8 AM at the 191 campus, with a homemade breakfast and time to connect and grow as a man, husband, father, and leader. Men's groups also gather to connect, grow spiritually, and engage with the Word of God, and the ministry's men's pastor, Daniel Hernandez, also serves as senior associate pastor at 191.
Women's ministry says it is passionate about connecting women to Jesus and to each other, with groups for women who would rather not figure it out alone.
IGNITE gathers adults 50 and older, whether empty nesters, retirees, married, or single, to stay connected, grow spiritually, and continue making an impact for the kingdom of God. The group keeps its own team and scheduled activities.
The King's Table: A Place for Kids With Special Needs
The King's Table is Mid-Cities' special needs ministry for children ages birth to 18, available during morning services. Its vision describes a safe, welcoming environment where children are accepted as they are, every win is applauded, and God's Word advances through engaging teaching. Families fill out a first-time guest form before attending, and people can serve on the ministry's team.
Missions: Local Work, Sending, and Church Planting
Mid-Cities carries missions on the heart of its leadership, with a Missions Pastor, Christy Cantrell, and a set of local opportunities people can join. One supported effort is MissionInvest, led by Wim Hasselman, a nonprofit that bridges business and nongovernmental organizations so that projects can happen in different nations. The work includes Bible distribution in closed countries, equipping and training lay pastors and evangelists, internet missions, access to water, food, and health through dug wells and clinics, and programs focused on self-reliance for the people served.
Mid-Cities partners with Jean Baptiste Sibomana, a missionary in Burundi who hosts discipleship trainings, and the church shares reports from partners in Paris, Ghana, Colombia, Israel, Monterrey, and Austin, along with the impact of local work in the Basin. Local outreach includes a teacher outreach and chances to serve with Teen Challenge, an adult education program. Mission trips have carried Mid-Cities teams to Mexico, Scotland, and England, and the church keeps recruiting people for mission opportunities.
The sending arm of the church runs through its Church Planting Residency, whose stated heart is to plant Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, and socially responsible churches in Texas, the United States, Mexico, and beyond. Mike Cantrell serves as church planting and campus pastor at the Neely campus. The church's shared financial vision, My City. My Church., casts the congregation as one family making Spirit-led commitments to reach, grow, and send more people with the gospel of Jesus.
Worship, Tech Arts, and the People Behind the Room
Mid-Cities Worship is described as leading the people of Midland and beyond in intentional, authentic, Spirit-led worship. Serving on the team starts with an involvement process that explains what the role involves, and worship pastors serve at several campuses, including Dustin Hahn at Neely and Olivia Ramirez at 191, with worship leaders at the Spanish campuses and at North Midland.
Mid-Cities Tech Arts works on "creating engaging environments where people encounter God," with a set of values, defined team roles, and requests for technical, audio, video, lighting, and IT support for church ministries.
Camps, Giving, and the Spaces Mid-Cities Uses
The camp program is built on a simple claim: one week can change everything. Extreme Kids Camp serves elementary children and Every Nation Youth Camp serves middle school and high school students, and both welcome counselors. Families can partner financially or in prayer to send a student, and registered families submit forms and make payments through a parent portal.
Giving is framed as engaging in the generous life. Online and recurring giving runs through the MyMid-Cities platform, families can make a one-time gift or fill out a commitment card, and a student offering helps send students to events such as the ENC conference and summer camps. Mid-Cities also teaches practical money management through Financial Peace University, answers common questions about giving, and pairs the giving resources with a thank-you note from Stewardship Pastor Jodie.
The church also hosts weddings, quinceañeras, and general events, and the process is the same for each: email the facilities coordinator for available dates, fill out an application form, then return the completed packet at least 30 days before the event.
The Leadership Team
Lead Pastor Daniel Stephens also serves as an elder, alongside elders Brandon Sheppard, Bud Cravey, Larry Quinney, Randy Rouse, Ric Warnick, Rolando Serrato, and Tim Spencer. Executive pastors Chris Davis and Chris Kelly provide shared support, Christy Cantrell leads missions, and Bob Fu leads ChinaAid.
Pastors assigned to campuses include Andrew Strand at 191, Obed Borrero at North Midland, Olaf Luna at 191 Español, Filo Galindo at Odessa Español, and J. Tom Snelson for the online campus, with Mike Cantrell at Neely. Daniel Hernandez is senior associate pastor at 191, Jennifer Beyer leads connections there, and Oscar Martinez leads groups. Sheila Davis leads Parent's Day Out, Dustin Hahn leads worship at Neely, Olivia Ramirez leads worship at 191, and Lane Oliver serves as videography pastor.
Ministry directors include April McDonald for elementary, Yoli Kane for early childhood, Khalil Cavil for high school, Nick Russell for the ENC campus, Deneille Golden for women, Tory Bryant for discipleship, Evan Dufresne for tech arts, and David Ochs and Alma Copley for connections.
Love God, Love People, Make Disciples
Every part of Mid-Cities traces back to those three lines. The worship team calls its work intentional, authentic, and Spirit-led; the two Spanish campuses carry the same mission for Spanish-speaking families; the children's ministries work to engage children, families, and communities with the Gospel; and the sending vision asks the church to reach, grow, and send. More than four decades after beginning in 1982, Mid-Cities continues to help people in Midland and Odessa connect with God and with one another, with five campuses and Church Online gathering at 9:30 and 11:00 AM every Sunday.
