Miami Vineyard Community Church: A Saturday-Sunday Rhythm in Kendall

Pentecostal Church in Miami, Florida

Miami Vineyard Community Church meets Saturday evenings and three Sunday mornings in the Kendall area of Miami, offering contemporary worship with live Spanish translation, programs for every age, and a roster of more than thirty small groups.

About Miami Vineyard Community Church

Miami Vineyard Community Church sits in the Kendall area of Miami, on the property of the former Signature Gardens at 12727 SW 122nd Avenue. For more than three decades the church has described its work with a single line: "Loving all people into a growing relationship with Jesus." From that mission flow a Saturday evening service and three Sunday morning services, a network of more than thirty small groups meeting on campus and online, a full slate of children's, youth, and young adult ministries, and a pastoral care team that walks with people through grief, crisis, and the long, ordinary work of becoming a follower of Jesus.

A Saturday-Sunday Rhythm on 122nd Avenue

Miami Vineyard meets four times each weekend at the former Signature Gardens in Kendall. The Saturday gathering begins at 6:15 p.m. and three Sunday services follow at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. Each service includes extended praise and worship, a message grounded in Scripture, and time for prayer, with the same teaching preached at every gathering. Services are livestreamed on YouTube for those unable to come in person, and a Spanish Translation Team renders each Sunday gathering into Spanish for Spanish-speaking attenders.

Vinnea Kids programming is available for children from birth through fifth grade during every weekend service. Children are checked in, taught at their level, and reunited with their parents before and after the service. Middle and high school students attend the main service with their families and connect through Vinnea Youth small groups during the week.

Six Values That Shape the Room

The mission statement is short enough to fit on a sticker: "Loving all people into a growing relationship with Jesus." Six values give it shape. Miami Vineyard calls itself better together, celebrating men and women, young and old, every race and culture. It calls itself a church of the second chance, refusing to turn anyone away. It calls itself always growing, trusting that God accepts people as they are but loves them too much to leave them there. It calls itself always looking for one more, keeping its words and actions inviting to those not yet present. It calls itself crazy generous, giving time, talents, and treasure to the mission. And it calls itself fun loving, infusing laughter into everything from small groups to summer camp.

For Lead Pastor Kevin Fischer, the mission is personal. He and his wife Debbie connected with the Vineyard in 1986 after moving to South Florida from the Midwest. Kevin taught middle school for several years before taking over as Senior Pastor in 1993. Under his leadership the church grew from around two hundred people to more than two thousand. Today Kevin and Debbie are parents to five children, follow the Green Bay Packers, and track South Florida hurricanes in their spare time.

Small Groups for Every Season of Life

Small groups are the connective tissue at Miami Vineyard. The church teaches that life change happens in the context of relationships, and more than thirty groups meet on campus, on Zoom, or in hybrid form across every day of the week.

Co-ed Bible studies meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; women's Bible studies gather both online and on campus; men's Bible studies run on Mondays and Wednesdays. A marriage group meets on Friday evenings, and a pre-marriage class runs in the fall. A couples group for ages eighteen to twenty-nine meets on Fridays, and a young adults gathering meets on Thursdays. Other topical groups include GriefShare, a Bible class walking through Genesis to Deuteronomy, a Freed Up Finance class offered three nights a week, a co-ed book club, a music class for beginners, and a Worship Class for those interested in leading. Recreational groups include women's fitness, men's fitness, men's basketball, and a tabletop game night.

Spanish-speaking groups meet throughout the week. A mixed-gender online Bible study gathers on Tuesday evenings, a women's Bible study meets on campus on Wednesdays, a new believers' group meets on Tuesdays, and a Spanish prayer group meets on Friday evenings.

To get plugged in, the church runs Growth Track, a three-part course designed to help newcomers discover their purpose and connect to a serve team, a small group, or the community.

Vinnea Kids, Youth, and Young Adults

Next Gen ministries serve the entire family from birth through young adulthood. Vinnea Kids welcomes infants through fifth graders during every weekend service, with midweek small groups for kindergarten through fifth grade on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Kathy Sosa leads the Kids team.

Vinnea Youth gathers middle and high school students for weekly small groups on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., monthly Network Nights, and weekend services. The church also runs a summer camp that combines games, teaching, worship, and small group time.

Vinnea Young Adults serves eighteen- to twenty-nine-year-olds with a weekly Thursday night gathering at 7:00 p.m., plus outings and special events throughout the year. Omar Perez, who also directs outreach, oversees both youth and young adult ministry.

Care, Counseling, and the Best Friend This City Ever Had

The Vinnea Cares team walks with people through crises and celebrations. Members of the pastoral counseling team offer a listening ear, spiritual guidance, and Christ-centered perspective; sessions are free and confidential. For needs that fall outside spiritual direction, the team can refer individuals to a network of clinical counseling partners. Several Care Groups also meet on campus to provide community for those walking through grief and similar challenges.

Anyi Perez leads Guest Experience and Care. Pastoral support can be requested through a connect card on the Miami Vineyard app or by calling the church office during midweek hours.

On the outreach side, Miami Vineyard frames its work with a single ambition: "the best friend this city ever had." Volunteers, donations, and partner relationships are matched to real needs in the Kendall community and across Miami. Outreach volunteer opportunities are coordinated through the church's serve teams program.

What Miami Vineyard Believes

Miami Vineyard is part of Vinnea USA, an association of more than five hundred Vineyard churches in the United States and twenty-five hundred worldwide. The church stands in the center of orthodox Christian teaching while speaking in a style meant to make sense in present-day Miami.

The Bible is treated as God's inspired and unfailing word and the final authority on everything it teaches. There is one God, eternally existent as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All people are created in God's image, matter to Him, and are invited into cooperative friendship with Him. Apart from a life with Jesus, the church teaches, people are separated from God; but God has provided a way back through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, received as a gift of grace rather than earned.

The church teaches that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life, was crucified, and resurrected by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer, instructs, corrects, encourages, guides, and empowers, and distributes spiritual gifts to serve the church's mission to the least, the lost, and the marginalized. The local church gathers to celebrate and is reminded, encouraged, and equipped in God's grace, then scatters to share it with the world. Communion and baptism are the two practices every believer shares: communion as participation in Jesus' death and resurrection, baptism as initiation into the family of believers.
