About Meadowview Presbyterian Church

Savoring Grace on Grace Way in Lexington

Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church meets on Grace Way just outside Lexington, North Carolina, where a circular drive leads visitors to a worship center flanked by a Children's Wing on the left and an Adult Wing on the right. The congregation is part of the Presbyterian Church in America and identifies itself as a Confessional Presbyterian and Reformed church whose mission is to "Savor the Grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ" and to be "Servants of that Grace" locally and globally. Sundays follow a steady rhythm: Bible Hour at 9:00 AM and morning worship at 10:30 AM, with a fellowship supper and classes on Wednesday evenings during the school year and Life Groups scattered across the week.

The Campus and the Welcome

The Meadowview campus is laid out for visitors. Visitor parking spots line the circular drive that runs up to the Worship Center, and a greeter opens the glass doors at the front. Once inside the narthex, newcomers receive a printed bulletin, and ushers inside the sanctuary help anyone who wants a hand finding a seat. The Adult Wing on the right houses the youth room and adult classrooms during Bible Hour, and the Children's Wing on the left houses the nursery and children's classrooms. Members in good standing may also request to use the Meadowview facility for events of their own.

The Shape of Sunday Worship

Sunday morning worship is the center of life at Meadowview, and the congregation has thought carefully about what happens in it. The order of service follows a Reformed liturgy: announcements, a Call to Worship, an Opening Prayer, three doctrinally faithful worship songs (at least one of which is a hymn), a Confession of Sin within the Pastoral Prayer (which also includes Thanksgiving and Petition), a Declaration of Faith drawn from a historic creed, the Westminster Confession of Faith, or Scripture, a reflective offertory, public Scripture reading, the preached Word, a closing song of praise, and a benediction. The service concludes between 11:45 AM and noon. Weekly bulletins are posted online so visitors can follow along.

The congregation describes the gathering as reverent and joyful. Songs are chosen for doctrinal faithfulness, the worship team leads from the front, and a tech team handles media, video, and sound so that everything visible and audible in the room points to the glory of God and the beauty of Christ.

Bible Hour for Every Age

At 9:00 AM on Sundays, Meadowview runs its Bible Hour across the campus. Children from Pre-K through fifth grade gather in the Children's Wing for age-appropriate, in-depth Bible lessons. Middle and high school students (sixth through twelfth grades) meet at 9:15 AM in the youth room for in-depth study across a wide variety of topics. Two or three adult classes usually run at the same time, including a women's class, a general adult class, and the Discovering Meadowview church membership class offered several times a year.

Children, the Nursery, and the Covenant Community

Children's ministry is a major part of Meadowview's identity. The church partners with families in cultivating a safe, welcoming, and gospel-centered space for children from Pre-K through fifth grade. The Children's Wing, the left-hand building, houses nursery care from 9:00 AM to noon for infants and toddlers from birth through age three. From 9:00 to 10:00 AM, Children's Bible Hour serves Pre-K through fifth graders with age-appropriate classes. During the worship hour itself, children ages four through six are dismissed from the service just before the sermon for Children's Worship Training in the Children's Wing. On Wednesday evenings during the school year, children from kindergarten through fifth grade gather from 6:15 to 7:15 PM for catechism study.

Parents are welcome to keep their children with them in the service. Two rocking and nursing rooms at the rear of the sanctuary are equipped with one-way glass and speakers so caregivers can stay connected to the service while soothing little ones. Michelle Speas serves as the Children's Director and the youth ministry contact.

Student Ministry from Sixth Grade through High School

The student ministry at Meadowview aims to come alongside families in leading middle and high school youth (sixth through twelfth grade) to genuine faith in Jesus Christ and to equip them for ministry in the church and the world. Each Sunday morning during Bible Hour, students gather for in-depth study. Wednesday evenings during the summer bring a relaxed Youth Group from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Bible study, music, prayer, and games, and the ministry maintains an Instagram presence (@meadowviewyouth) for ongoing connection with students and parents.

Wednesday Nights Around the Table

Wednesday evenings during the school year are one of the church's signature rhythms. A fellowship supper is served at 5:00 PM, followed by an Adult Prayer Group from 5:45 to 6:15 PM in the Adult Wing, while Children's and Youth programs run from 6:00 to 7:15 PM. Adults gather for a class from 6:15 to 7:00 PM in the Worship Center. The Wednesday Night Supper Team, led by Sherri Shoaf, takes care of the meal preparation behind the scenes, and the season opens each fall with a churchwide kickoff meal.

Men's, Women's, and SALT Ministries

The Men's Ministry, headed by Associate Pastor Pablo Ayllon, gathers for a Saturday morning Bible study at 8:00 AM, a Thursday evening Bible study at 6:30 PM, periodic breakfasts, and events including Men's Day at the Lake and bowling nights at the YMCA. The Women's Ministry is led by a diverse group of women representing multiple stages of life and organizes social, service, and study opportunities throughout the year. Senior adults are served by SALT (Senior Adults Living Triumphantly), a group for those 55 and older overseen by Elder Rob Spaugh that meets for luncheons and seasonal events.

Life Groups and Fellowship

Life Groups are a key part of life at Meadowview, and Associate Pastor Pablo Ayllon oversees them. Seven groups currently meet on varying schedules, dates, and age groupings, giving the congregation a way to connect, encourage one another, and pray together in smaller settings. Many of the groups meet on Sunday afternoons and evenings, alongside the family gatherings of multi-generational households. The Compassion Team, led by Leesa Everhart, extends additional care within the body.

Music Ministry

The Music Ministry at Meadowview leads the 10:30 AM worship service each Sunday. The worship team includes a Praise Band and a Choir, and volunteers who enjoy using their musical gifts to serve the congregation are welcome to join either group. The goal is to be a like-minded team that uses music to bring glory to the name of Jesus.

Missions and Outreach from Lexington

Meadowview's outreach is organized through the church's Missions Committee, which meets the first Sunday after worship each month and oversees international, national, and local mission partnerships, Faith Promise giving, prayer coordination, and the annual missions conference. The church runs a Foster Care ministry that supports adoptive and foster families throughout the year. Car Care, led by Deacon Jim Steiner, mobilizes volunteers on the second Saturday of every other month from 9:00 to 11:00 AM to provide free basic car maintenance for widows, single mothers, the elderly, and others in need.

Operation Christmas Child gathers shoe box gifts from mid-September through October, followed by a packing party in November. Angel Tree provides Christmas gifts to children in need each November. Meadowview also partners with Southwood Elementary School in Davidson County through Lunch Buddies and Men's Mentoring programs. A Blood Drive brings the OneBlood Big Red Bus to the front parking lot from 1:00 to 6:00 PM on the third Tuesday of every other month. The Crisis Ministry team provides a meal each month to a local homeless shelter, and the Disaster Response Ministry has been active since 2009, completing thousands of volunteer hours across the southeastern United States. The congregation also collects products such as Boost, Depends, and toiletries for Davidson County Senior Services. The Prayer Email Ministry, led by Debbie Thompson, sends a daily list of prayer requests Monday through Friday, and the Greeters and Ushers teams (led by Deacon Jim Steiner and Deacon Mike Maness) keep Sunday mornings running smoothly.

What Meadowview Believes

Meadowview holds to the doctrinal standards of the Presbyterian Church in America: the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, and the Book of Church Order. The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God and the only infallible rule of faith and practice. God is one, eternal, and self-existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son, one person existing in two natures, divine and human. All mankind participated in Adam's fall and is lost in sin. The sovereign God chooses lost sinners from every nation to be redeemed by the quickening power of the Holy Spirit through the life, atoning death, and resurrection of His Son; salvation is by grace. Justification is by grace through faith, and believers are clothed with the righteousness of Christ. Sanctification is the believer's growth in holiness, good works, and service for the glory of God. At death the Christian's soul passes immediately into the presence of God, and at the New Creation believers will be given new glorified bodies. Baptism is a sign and seal of God's covenant and is properly administered to the infant children of believers as well as to adult believers. Jesus Christ will return to earth visibly and bodily at an unexpected hour to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

The congregation identifies itself as an "Ordinary Means of Grace" church committed to the Regulative Principle of Worship, and members are expected to be confessing Christians who have made a public profession of faith, been baptized, and joined the church.

Elders, Deacons, and Pastoral Staff

Meadowview is governed by a Session of ruling elders and served by a board of deacons. Senior Pastor Jeff Early and Associate Pastor Pablo Ayllon provide the preaching and pastoral ministry. Ruling elders include Randy Everhart, Greg Greene, Eric Harrison, Richard Jones, Jesse King, Ken Kuhn, Ozzie Marin, Kevin Miller, Ronnie Overby, Steve Riddle, Rob Spaugh, and Dan Wilkins. Deacons include Matthew Krauch, Mike Maness, Charlie Milam, Shane Overby, Kerry Shoaf, Luke Shoaf, and Jim Steiner.

Sermons, Bulletins, and Online Connection

Sermons are recorded each Sunday and made available on YouTube and Sermon Audio by the pastoral staff along with occasional guest preachers. Weekly bulletins going back several years are posted online, and a weekly email newsletter and daily prayer email (coordinated through pray4meadowview@gmail.com) keep the congregation connected between Sundays. Active Facebook and Instagram accounts share ongoing updates about life at the church.
