Longview Missionary Baptist Church sits on East Loop 281 at Hollybrook Drive on the east side of Longview, Texas. On a typical Sunday morning, somewhere between 150 and 250 people gather in the sanctuary to worship, pray, fellowship and open the Word together. The church exists to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and it is made up of friendly people of all ages and stages of life. Visitors are greeted at the door with a smile and a handshake and pointed to a Guest Services station in the front foyer where volunteers can answer practical questions and help families with children.
Sundays at LMBC
The Sunday rhythm at LMBC has two anchors. Bible studies for every age and stage meet at 9:30am, and the main morning worship service begins at 10:30am. The worship service typically runs about an hour, with a sermon of roughly 30 minutes. People can arrive 15 minutes before the service to park, drop off children, and get settled.
The morning service blends music and teaching. A choir, praise team and instrumentalists lead worship that moves from traditional and modern arrangements of beloved hymns to contemporary praise songs, with the unifying aim of glorifying God. Pastors or guest speakers walk through a passage of Scripture, explain its meaning, and apply it to today's culture and the lives of those gathered. Prayer is woven throughout the service, with someone leading and the congregation free to pray along or simply listen. The offering is taken as an act of gratitude, with members and attenders who call LMBC their church home supporting the ministries of the church; guests are welcome to give if they feel led.
Children: Nursery, Children's Chapel, and Awana
LMBC invests heavily in its kids. A nursery is open for children from birth through age 2 for all Bible studies and worship services. At 10:30am, age-specific Children's Chapels meet at the same time as the sanctuary service: one chapel for 2 and 3 year olds, another for 4 year olds through kindergarten, and a third for 1st through 4th grade. Parents check children in before the service and pick them up at the conclusion of worship.
On Wednesday evenings during the school year, August through April, Awana Bible Clubs run from 6:15 to 7:45pm for children age 3 through 4th grade. Kids spend time with peers their own age learning Scripture, memorizing verses, and growing together. The summer calendar adds Vacation Bible School, Kids Camp, and outings to Splash Kingdom and AirU. Children's Pastor Josh McNamara oversees the entire children's ministry and is the main contact for parents who want more information.
Students and the 806 Building
The student ministry at LMBC centers on a separate building on campus called THE 806. Seventh through twelfth graders gather there on Wednesday evenings at 6:15pm for worship, teaching from God's Word, small group interaction and fellowship. On Sunday mornings at 9:30am, junior high and high school students have small group Bible studies alongside the rest of the church.
The student ministry aims to create a passionate, authentic and welcoming community where students can seek, learn, and grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus, and to help them see that relationship as a personal, daily walk rather than a casual or emotional experience. In addition to the weekly gatherings, the ministry offers discipleship groups, fellowship events, summer camp, and mission trip opportunities throughout the year. For 5th and 6th graders, a Wednesday program called Crew56 runs from 6:15 to 7:45pm alongside the older students. JD Richardson serves as the youth pastor.
Midweek Bible Studies for Adults
Adults have several Bible study options during the week. Men meet on Wednesday mornings at 5:30am for a men's Bible study. Women can choose between a Monday morning Bible study at 10:00am and a Tuesday evening Bible study at 6:00pm that meets in the fellowship hall. A separate Adult Bible Study meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30pm during the school year.

Worship and Teaching Style
LMBC aims to encounter God in worship every Sunday morning. Music at LMBC spans the spectrum: traditional and modern arrangements of classic hymns alongside contemporary praise and worship songs. The common thread is that every song is meant to glorify and exalt God. A choir, a praise team, and instrumentalists lead the music each Sunday, and the part-time Minister of Music, Kaden Langford, oversees that ministry.
Teaching is described as simple and biblical, with sound doctrine and energetic messages that have true meaning and application for daily life. Messages are usually about 30 minutes long. The sermons archive at lmbc.church/messages stretches through 37 pages of messages, with series ranging from The Book of Acts, For The City, Plot Twist, and Better Together to topical series like Making Change and seasonal series like The Light. Many messages are available to stream online or download as audio or video.
Missions: CityReach and More Than 100 Missionaries
Spreading the gospel is a core value at LMBC. The church believes every believer is called by God to carry out the Great Commission, and it backs that conviction with action. LMBC directly supports more than 100 missionaries through state and national associational support, as well as through direct support of state, national, and international church planters.
LMBC is also the primary sponsoring church for a mission organization called CityReach. Each summer, CityReach sends over 200 teenagers, college students, and adults on a stateside mission trip, where the team travels together for a week of service and evangelism in a U.S. city. Tithes and offerings, including a dedicated Missions Fund, underwrite this work alongside the church's ongoing local ministries.
J.O.Y. Fellowship for Senior Adults
LMBC has a long-running fellowship for senior adults called J.O.Y., which stands for Just Older Youth. The group meets monthly for meals, outings, and trips, and the church hosts monthly Senior Adult Fellowships from August through May.
Staff and Leadership
LMBC has three full-time pastors, a part-time Minister of Music, and a part-time administrative secretary. Their shared passion is to see people have a deep growing relationship with God through His Son, Jesus.
- Tony Harp serves as Administrative Pastor. He has been on staff since October 1989 and was ordained in 1999. Tony graduated from Hallsville High School and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Theology from Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary. He and his wife Dianne have been married since August 1979; they have two children and five grandchildren.
- Josh McNamara serves as Children's Pastor. He and his wife Shaylee have four children: Olivia, Claire, Emma, and Thomas. Josh received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Texas Baptist Institute and joined the LMBC staff in 2013.
- JD Richardson serves as Youth Pastor. He joined the team in May 2020. He and his wife Bri have three children: Charli, Sadie, and Luka. JD is a graduate of White Oak High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training from East Texas Baptist University; he is currently enrolled at Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary.
- Kaden Langford serves as part-time Minister of Music. He joined the team in June 2026. He and his wife Jamie are newly married, and he is a graduate of Henderson High School and a music major at East Texas Baptist University.
