Love God. Love Others. on West Baseline Road
Little Rock Church gathers each Sunday at 10701 West Baseline Road in southwest Little Rock, Arkansas, under the simple banner of "Love God. Love Others." The congregation dates back to 1986 and has called its Baseline Road home for decades, growing into a community that pairs a Sunday worship assembly with a wide network of house churches, children's and student ministries, a women's ministry, a Hispanic partnership called Comunidad Cristiana, and mission connections in Angola and Equatorial Guinea. A second phrase, "Grow. Worship. Live. Love.," sits beneath the church's name and names the four purposes the congregation holds in front of everything it does. Visitors are welcomed with coffee and a hand on the shoulder, and the building is open for nursery care, Bible classes for every age, and a contemporary service that wraps up by 11:30 in the morning.
Sundays at Little Rock Church
The Sunday rhythm at Little Rock Church is built around three weekly touchpoints that bring children, students, and adults together for a full morning of formation. At 9:00 a.m., Bible classes meet for every age from birth through adulthood. Children from birth through preschool gather in the main building, with the entrance just off the worship center. Kindergarten through fifth grade students meet in classrooms in the Children's Ministry Building. Students in grades six through twelve gather in the youth room in the Nichols Building for a time of study and journaling through the word.
At 10:00 a.m., the doors of the worship center open for the corporate worship assembly. The worship leaders plan a time of contemporary instrumental worship, and a message from the Word of God is shared by a member of the preaching team. Every Sunday the congregation shares in the Lord's Supper, an open covenant meal instituted by Christ and observed in remembrance of him until he returns. Because the manner of partaking is regularly changed, instructions for participating are given during the assembly. Visitors are not expected to say or do anything during the service. The service typically wraps up by 11:30 a.m. An attended nursery is available for children from birth through three years of age, with a changing and nursing room on site. Coffee and a casual welcome await in the gathering area before and after the service.
What Little Rock Church Believes
Little Rock Church teaches a classical evangelical statement of faith centered on the one true God who exists in three persons. The church believes in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, and that the Son, Jesus Christ, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, was buried, rose on the third day, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God interceding for believers. The Holy Spirit personally indwells every Christian, providing comfort, guidance, and the ability to understand Scripture, and convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
Salvation, the church teaches, is a gift received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; nothing a person does can earn it. Those who come to faith are called to confess publicly that Jesus is the Christ, repent of sin, and be baptized in his name. The church practices baptism by immersion, understanding it as a burial with Christ into death and a rising to walk in newness of life. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic, regular act of remembrance. The Old and New Testament scriptures are regarded as God-breathed and without error in their original form. Little Rock Church looks for the bodily return of Christ, the resurrection of the dead, everlasting blessedness for believers, and judgment and everlasting separation from God for those who do not believe.
Four Purposes: Worship, Outreach, Community, and Formation
The church's mission rests on Jesus' words in Luke 10:27, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. And, love your neighbor as yourself." From that text four purposes flow.
Worship is the response to who God is and what he has done. The church seeks to be a community of worshipers who honor God by the power of the Holy Spirit, in spirit and in truth, around the truth that while people were dead in sin, Christ made them right with God through his death, burial, and resurrection.
Outreach follows Jesus' words in Matthew 28 and Acts 1:8, going and making disciples of all nations. The church reads this calling as broader than proclamation alone. Members are also called to be the Good News in their community, pursuing justice for the oppressed, food for the hungry, clothing for the naked, housing for the homeless, and caring for the sick.
Community is shaped by Jesus' prayer in John 17 that all who believe in him would be brought to complete unity. The church takes seriously the call to "make every effort to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4:3), both within its own body and with other groups of believers who share a devotion to Jesus.
Spiritual formation is the work of helping every member "become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:13). Maturity involves distinguishing right from wrong, growing in grace and knowledge of Christ, and being compelled by the love of Christ to serve others. The church believes each member of the body of Christ is a minister with unique spiritual gifts, given to build up the body, serve the needy, and preach and teach the word.
Comunidad Cristiana and the Hispanic Partnership
Little Rock Church shares its ministry with a sister congregation, Comunidad Cristiana, which began in 2020 when David and Jhuliana Mejia moved to Little Rock to work with ACPN to plant a Hispanic church. Their mission has been to reach out to the Hispanic community in central Arkansas with the peace and love of God. David has pastored the people of Comunidad Cristiana faithfully since 2020, and in January of 2024, Little Rock Church and Comunidad partnered together to continue their efforts in the city. Comunidad hosts its own events on the Baseline Road campus, including birthday parties and couples nights that draw both congregations together.
Children's Ministry from Birth Through Fifth Grade
Children's ministry at Little Rock Church welcomes children from birth through fifth grade, with a stated purpose to introduce children to Jesus Christ and set them on a path to knowing him. The team welcomes children, teaches them, supports families, and equips parents in the spiritual formation of their kids. The Children's Ministry leader is Tammy White, and her team can be reached at childrensministry@littlerockchurch.org.
An attended nursery is open for children from birth through three years old during the worship assembly, with parents welcome to drop off at any time during the service. A changing and nursing room is also available in the nursery area. On Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m., Bible classes are offered for every age. Birth through preschool children meet in the main building, with the entrance just off the worship center. Kindergarten through fifth grade students meet in classrooms in the Children's Ministry Building.
Student Ministry, Grades 6 to 12
LRC Student Ministry exists to lead students in grades six through twelve to become full participants in the body and mission of Jesus Christ. The ministry partners with parents, surrounds students with invested adults and peers in a small group, and provides opportunities to serve and share Christ with others. In addition to the two weekly environments described below, students are involved in mission trips, camps, and retreats.
Sunday School meets every Sunday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. in the youth room in the Nichols Building. Students gather for Bible study, journaling through the word, and reflection.
Youth Worship happens every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Students in grades six through twelve come together for a time of worship and study, walking through Scripture together, learning to discover the word for themselves, and gaining tools to share the gospel with those around them.
House Churches: Life Together in Smaller Groups
While gathering together for worship, teaching, communion, and prayer is central to Little Rock Church, the church teaches that spiritual growth happens best when doing life alongside others. House churches are the primary vehicle for that day-to-day discipleship, with a network of small groups meeting in homes around the area. Some groups are long-term; others meet for specific seasons and purposes. Different groups are designed for different stages of life, so participants can move between groups as their needs shift. A list of current house church groups and a sign-up form are available for those who want to find a group that fits their season.
Women's Ministry
Women's Ministry at Little Rock Church is led by Lindsey McDonald, joined on the leadership team by Angie King, Pam Reed, Emma Philbrick, and Linda Murphy. The ministry is divided into three subgroups that give women a variety of ways to grow spiritually and connect with one another.
Events are designed to bring women of all ages together, often around a service project for another ministry in the church, a need in the community, or a global cause. Monthly events are currently planned by the house churches.
Each year, the ministry plans a weekend retreat or Ladies' Day so women can step away from the daily pace for spiritual teaching, renewal, and connection with one another.
Summer Oasis is a women-only Bible study held each summer, with time set aside for worship, study, and fellowship. More information is available at womensministry@littlerockchurch.org.
Mission and Outreach
Little Rock Church supports a small but specific set of mission partners near and far.
Jordan Yarbrough has been serving in Angola for many years, using her nursing degree to meet the physical needs of the people around her while also bringing spiritual healing through prayer and introducing people to Jesus.
Wenceslao MbaMba Ayang has been serving in Equatorial Guinea for a little over a year. He is pastoring a small church in the area and working with the youth of that church, sharing the gospel with those around him.
Goodness Village provides long-term apartment housing for patients and their families when cancer treatment or other outpatient medical care requires them to stay in Little Rock. Little Rock Church supports this local ministry as a practical extension of its calling to care for the sick and the stranger.
Open Gym and Life on Campus
Open Gym Nights bring the campus to life on Thursday evenings, with pickleball in the gym from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. These evenings are open to the broader community as well as the church family. House church groups also use the gym for activities and gatherings. In addition to the main worship center, the campus includes the Children's Ministry Building, the Nichols Building, which houses the youth room, and the gym.
Leadership
Little Rock Church is shepherded by a group of elders who, along with the ministry staff, oversee the life of the congregation. Brad Dell has served as an elder since 2002, and he and his wife MaryLee have been part of Little Rock Church since it began in 1986. He has served as a house church leader, a member of the worship team, a Bible class teacher, and a volunteer with the men's ministry. "We love this church family! It's a privilege to serve the Lord in this community of believers," Brad says.
Sean Tappe began serving as an elder in 2025. He and his family have attended Little Rock Church for fifteen years, during which time he has served as a house church leader, a worship leader, and a leader in the student ministry.
Scott Philbrick and his wife Ashley have been married since 1990 and have three children. Scott has served as a house church leader, has worked with the youth group, taught classes, and serves on the preaching team. Ashley has served in a teaching role for many years and as a mentor in the women's ministry. Both have been involved with Little Rock Church for close to thirty years.
Tom King and his wife Angie have been members since 1989 and have been married for over thirty-three years. They have three children and worked together with the youth group for several years. Angie teaches in the children's ministry and is active in the women's ministry. Tom works in the men's ministry and serves on the preaching team.
Russ White and his wife Sue have been at Little Rock Church since the beginning. Russ has served with the preaching and teaching ministry for many years. Sue has taught children's Bible classes and has mentored and encouraged young women.
David Mejia serves as the Hispanic pastor for Comunidad Cristiana, the partnered congregation that shares the campus.
