Impact Ministries sits in Huntsville, Alabama, but its footprint reaches around the world. From an office on North Broad Place SW, the ministry led by Dr. Jim Richards produces a weekly online teaching, a library of books and audio series, a coaching program called Ultimate Impact, and a far-reaching discipleship and missions effort called Operation One Billion. Tens of thousands follow the work through YouTube channels, podcasts, mobile apps, Roku, and a global network of small home groups. At the heart of everything is a single purpose: changing the way the world sees God.
From the Streets of Huntsville to a Worldwide Ministry
The story of Impact Ministries begins in 1972, when Jim Richards, then a professional musician caught up in drugs and a restless search for meaning, walked into a bar in Huntsville and listened to a drunk man grumbling about a verse of Scripture a Christian had shared with him. That one conversation opened the door to a personal encounter with God. Richards gave his life to Christ, was set free from his addictions, and immediately began sharing what he had found. He started ministering to teenagers and people struggling with substance abuse on the streets of Huntsville. The work grew into a home church and, from there, into the organization now known as Impact Ministries.
Richards went on to earn doctorates in theology, human behavior, and alternative medicine, plus an honorary doctorate in world evangelism. He is certified as a detox specialist and a drug counselor through the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) and trained as a trainer within that organization. He has built businesses in contracting, real estate, and marketing, and has written more than twenty books that have sold millions of copies worldwide. He and his wife, Brenda, live in Huntsville. They have six daughters and fourteen grandchildren.
For more than four decades Richards has traveled across North America and around the world carrying a message centered on the New Covenant, grace, and faith-righteousness. The work in Huntsville is the home base; the CyberChurch online broadcast, the Heart Physics program, the books, and the Operation One Billion outreach are how that message now reaches believers from small towns in Mississippi to countries across Africa and Asia.
What Impact Ministries Believes
Impact Ministries describes its teaching as anchored in the Bible and in the New Covenant established through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. The published statement of faith is unusually detailed and runs to several pages. Among its core convictions:
- The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, God-breathed Word and the final authority for Christian faith and life. In their original languages they are without flaw or error, and every doctrine and interpretation must be consistent with them.
- There is one God, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, is the only begotten Son of God. He died on the cross in the place of sinners, rose again, conquered sin, death, and the devil, entered the heavenly Holy of Holies, sat down at the right hand of God, and completed the work of salvation.
- All people are saved by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus, and nothing can be added to that work.
- The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Jesus, regenerate the repentant believer, guide the believer into all truth, and manifest Himself in and through every believer. All New Testament manifestations of the Holy Spirit are available to present-day believers.
- Righteousness is a free gift given to every believer, making each one qualified for all the promises of God and empowered to live in righteousness.
- Through the propitiation of the Lord Jesus, God made peace with the world. Every believer is delivered from the curse of the law and the wrath of God.
- The believer and the church carry a commission to make disciples of every person on earth and to equip all believers to fulfill their calling.
Two threads run through the entire statement. The first is the inerrancy of Scripture as understood in its original languages. The second is the New Covenant. Because the New Covenant was sealed by the blood of Jesus, the ministry teaches that approaching God on any other basis, or mixing Old Covenant law-keeping with New Covenant grace, is offensive to God. Righteousness, peace, healing, provision, and authority, in this view, are already the believer's through the finished work of Christ. The believer's task is not to earn them but to believe them in the heart and live them out.
Jim Richards often describes religion as the main obstacle to knowing God. Religion, in his teaching, takes what should be the best experience of life and turns it into rules and regulations, making God seem hard, legalistic, and distant. Walking with Jesus, by contrast, is presented as a relationship of love, peace, and joy in which the believer can trust the Father and rest in His grace.
CyberChurch: The Weekly Online Pulpit
CyberChurch is the weekly teaching ministry that gives Impact Ministries its global reach. New episodes are released on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. Central and made available across a wide range of platforms: a dedicated YouTube channel, Vimeo, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, SoundCloud, the Roku channel "Jim Richards TV / Impact TV," the Faith Unveiled Network, the Israel TV Network, and Miracle Channel in Canada. The CyberChurch podcast carries each new message, and listeners can subscribe by email.
The series change as the Lord leads. Recent cycles have included In His Image: The Mystery of God's Presence and Three Days That Changed the World. Earlier series, available in the archives, have covered The Truth About Job, Connecting to the Life of God, and topical cycles on prayer, suffering, judgment, wisdom, marriage, and end-time prophecy. Each series is built around video teachings supported by transcripts and, often, downloadable MP3 sets or study guides that can be purchased from the Impact Ministries store.
The CyberChurch archive is unusually large. Visitors can search by topic and work through messages on subjects as varied as the wrath of God, the second coming of Christ, leadership, marriage, finances, the heart, and end-time prophecy. The teaching is conversational and practical, with Richards drawing on personal stories, pastoral experience, and biblical word studies. The goal, as Richards often puts it, is to help people see God as He really is so they can trust Him and experience the life He has already provided.
Heart Physics: A Signature Approach to Inner Transformation
Heart Physics is the program for which Impact Ministries is perhaps best known. Richards describes it as painless, permanent, effortless transformation, based on scriptural teaching about the heart. The central claim is that the heart, understood as the place where the human spirit and soul meet, directs a person's automatic responses, behaviors, and beliefs far more than the conscious mind. Lasting change, therefore, requires more than information; it requires persuading the heart.
The program is built around a set of modules. Essential Heart Physics is the flagship and the recommended starting place. It is a thirty-day module that walks the participant through a progressive cognitive and internal realization of Christ in them. By the end of the program, the stated goal is an abiding sense of "Christ in me" and a feeling of limitlessness.
Three foundational modules are required before advancing to most of the deeper work: Essential Heart Physics, New Beginnings, and Biblically-Based EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). New Beginnings helps close the door on the past and walk into the resurrection. The EFT module teaches a twenty-six-session process of tapping aligned with biblical truth that Richards says has brought dramatic relief to people with PTSD, fear, and the lingering effects of trauma.
Beyond the foundational three, the Heart Physics catalog includes:
- Limitless Living, which targets the limiting beliefs that drive destructive patterns.
- My Life Mission, a process for discovering and connecting to a personal mission statement.
- Abundant Living, Creating Wealth, and Consistent Results, which focus on personal development and finances.
- Living Healthy and Health and Healing, which address physical well-being from a spirit-soul-body perspective.
- Next Level Relationships, Making Love, and Single and Lovin' It, which address marriage and singleness.
- I Believe in God, Communing with Your Heart, I Love Righteousness, Nine Virtues, and Walking in Love, individual meditations that reinforce specific truths.
- The Ultimate Put Off / Put On Experience and Synchronicity, advanced modules that deal with recurring emotional and behavioral cycles and with building unified teams.
Modules can be purchased as MP3 downloads, CD sets, or DVD sets, and Essential Heart Physics and New Beginnings are also offered as online courses. The program is meant to be done with headphones in a quiet place, ideally five days a week. A Heart Monitor journal is part of the program, and Richards stresses that the number one reason people do not see results is that they do not follow the instructions.
Living Under Lordship and Foundations of Faith
Two free, foundational resources sit at the front of the discipleship pathway. Living Under Lordship is Richards' personal mentoring program for new believers and for long-time believers who want stability. It is offered at no cost and walks the participant from the introduction through Creation to Calvary and a series of modules designed to move a convert into a disciple. Believers are encouraged to take others through the same material, meeting with them as personal sponsors and mentors.
Foundations of Faith is a video and workbook course built around six doctrinal issues that the ministry teaches must be believed in order to lay a solid foundation for the promises of God. Richards describes the course as a master craftsman laying the stone upon which every other aspect of the gospel stands. Each class recommends companion materials, books or audio series from the Impact Ministries store, to help the student go deeper. The course has been released for free online.
Together, Living Under Lordship and Foundations of Faith form the on-ramp for new and returning believers. They are the ministries that Richards points to when someone visits Impact Ministries wanting to know where to start.
Ultimate Impact: Weekly Personal Coaching
Ultimate Impact is a weekly live coaching group that meets online. Members join Dr. Jim Richards every Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Central via Zoom or Facebook, whichever private, from those who prefer. The sessions are interactive: questions can be asked, testimonies shared, and feedback given in real time. There is also a private Facebook group where the conversation continues between sessions.
For members who cannot attend live, all sessions are available on demand in a private dashboard, along with digital books and audio messages. Each week, a practical Life Lesson is released that applies biblical truth to the challenges members are facing. The cost is a modest monthly subscription, with the first month offered free during limited promotions.
Testimonials from members describe Ultimate Impact as a lifeline, a place where limiting beliefs are identified and put off, where old patterns of self-condemnation are replaced with the truth of who the believer is in Christ, and where the journey from believer to disciple to servant to leader is walked alongside others.
iGroups: Small Groups Around the Table
iGroups are Impact Ministries' answer to small-group ministry. Richards teaches that the most powerful, consistently effective form of developing people into committed followers of Jesus has always been the home meeting. iGroups formalize that model: a leader gathers a small group of people in a home, a church, a business, or wherever people can meet, and uses Richards' weekly CyberChurch broadcast, or one of his books, as the teaching content. The leader facilitates the discussion and pastoral care; the broadcast provides the message.
Prospective leaders complete an iGroup questionnaire, agree to a leader covenant, and receive guidance on starting and maintaining a group. The Investment Plan walks through the principles of successful groups, and the Leader Agreement keeps everyone aligned on the purpose. Testimonials from iGroup leaders describe groups of women studying Wired for Success, mixed groups of young adults discovering grace for the first time, and home meetings where suicidal friends have been led to hope simply by hearing what Jesus did on the cross.
For someone who wants to reach their own community but does not have the time or training to develop a full teaching curriculum, an iGroup is the on-ramp. The teaching is already produced; the leader's job is to host the conversation.
Impact International School of Ministry
IISOM, the Impact International School of Ministry, was originally a residential school that ran for twenty-seven years and launched leaders into ministry and business around the world. It has since been digitized and made available online so that students do not have to relocate; they can stay in their local church and continue to serve while developing their heart.
IISOM classes are the academic backbone of the ministry's leadership development. They are also the curriculum used by Operation One Billion Bible schools planted around the world. Graduates of these Bible schools include a class that formed inside a Mississippi prison and leaders from countries across Africa and Asia.
Operation One Billion and the Reach Around the World
Operation One Billion is the strategic plan Richards says God gave him for taking the message of grace, peace, faith-righteousness, and the love of God to one billion people. The plan rests on partnering with people who are already on the move. International evangelists, pastors, and missionaries use the digitized IISOM curriculum to start Bible schools wherever they go. Ed Elliott, an international evangelist who has planted Bible schools across Africa and Asia on his motorcycle journeys, is one of the more visible partners. Video highlights from Tanzania, Uganda, and elsewhere are posted to show the work in progress.
World Changers is the donor community that funds the work. A World Changer commits to a monthly gift and receives a monthly letter, discounts on hundreds of CDs, DVDs, and books, discounts on special meetings, access to a special School of Ministry program, an invitation to the annual World Changers Weekend with Dr. Richards and the Impact Team, and the prayer support of the World Changers team. The ministry publishes a written promise: it will never use negative, fear-based tactics, manipulate through guilt, or deviate from the gospel it has been given.
Operation Influencer is a complementary strand of the strategy that focuses on people of power and influence, encouraging them to multiply the message to their followers. Taken together, Operation One Billion, Operation Influencer, and the publishing and broadcast work form the outward-facing arm of Impact Ministries.

Impact Ministries operates an extensive store. Books by Dr. Jim Richards include Grace: The Power to Change, The Immutable Law of the Seed, Apocalypse: A Spiritual Guide to the Second Coming, Ten Words That Will Change Everything You Know About God, The Anatomy of a Miracle, Establishing Your Heart: No More Boundaries, Moving Your Invisible Boundaries, Wired for Success Programmed for Failure, Heaven on Earth, Keys of the Kingdom, We Still Kiss, The Gospel of Peace, The Truth About Job, The Prayer Organizer, and Effective Small Group Ministry, written with Denise Capra.

Eighty-five cents of every dollar spent in the store goes toward taking the gospel to the ends of the earth.
A mobile app is available for iOS and Android. It gives members access to CyberChurch teachings, the daily inspiration archive, the store, and special offers not available elsewhere. With the app, Richards notes, a person can do personal Bible study anywhere and even meet with those they are mentoring from a phone or tablet.
The Pastor and His Family
Dr. James B. Richards is the pastor and director of Impact Ministries. He holds doctorates in theology, human behavior, and alternative medicine, with an honorary doctorate in world evangelism. Brenda Richards, his wife, is a co-author and ministry partner. Together they wrote We Still Kiss, a book and marriage enrichment program built around weekly reading, date nights, and exercises that have, according to the couple's testimony, restored and protected marriages through blended families, illness, financial loss, and years of pressure.
