About Hilldale Baptist Church

Three Doors into One Church

Hilldale Baptist Church has been part of Clarksville, Tennessee since 1947. The congregation describes its calling in a single sentence: to exist for the glory of God to make, mature, and multiply disciples, with a vision of being a dynamic, healthy church where lives connect with Christ, with other Christians, and with the culture around it. Today the same conviction is lived out across three addresses in Clarksville: the Madison Street Campus at 2001 Madison Street, the Family Life Center at 250 Old Farmers Road, and the administrative office at 112 Lois Lane. Worship takes place at the first two on Sundays, while the third handles weekday business, calls, and pastoral care.

The two worship campuses feel related but distinct. The Madison Street Campus hosts the longer-running services in a blended style, with the Hilldale choir and orchestra when available. The Family Life Center runs a more contemporary music style with the same Bible preaching. Together they give the same family of believers a choice in how they spend a Sunday morning.

Sunday Mornings at the Madison Street Campus

The Madison Street Campus, simply called MSC, gathers at 2001 Madison Street with two identical services at 8:30 and 9:45 a.m. Both services blend traditional and modern elements: the Hilldale choir and orchestra when available, congregational singing alongside the band, and Bible preaching from the pastor. Each service runs between 60 and 75 minutes.

LIFE Groups meet at both hours for adults, students in grades 7 through 12, and preschool through elementary children. WOW (Worship Our Way), the children's worship experience for kindergarten through sixth grade, is offered during the 8:30 service. Preschool and children's activities run at both 8:30 and 9:45. The campus is also home to La Roca Eterna, the Spanish-language church Hilldale hosts in Building B at 11:00 a.m., and a 6:30 p.m. midweek Bible study in Spanish.

Sunday Mornings at the Family Life Center

The Family Life Center campus at 250 Old Farmers Road offers contemporary-style services at 9:45 and 11:00 a.m. The music leans modern, but the preaching matches what is taught at MSC. LIFE Groups for adults and preschool through elementary children are offered at both hours. WOW for K through 6th grade meets at the 11:00 service. Student LIFE Groups for grades 7 through 12 gather at 9:45. New Life Deaf Church, an ASL-led worship service with interpretation for hearing attendees, meets here at 11:30 a.m. each Sunday.

For families with college-aged and young-professional adults, Elevate meets on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Family Life Center. Dinner is served, and the gathering is built around community as much as content. The Landing, a Celebrate Recovery curriculum adapted for junior high and high school students, plugs into the same student ministry orbit.

The Family Life Center Throughout the Week

On Sundays the FLC is a worship center. On the other six days it is a fitness and recreation hub. Normal hours of operation run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The gym is closed on Sundays.

Members and the wider community use the FLC for fitness classes, personal training, and Weight Watchers at low cost, as well as for basketball, cheer, and flag football leagues that include children as young as kindergarten. An at-home exercise video series led by FLC trainers extends the gym's reach beyond its walls. The FLC also serves as the meeting place for Hilldale's midweek Bible study and prayer at 11:00 a.m. each Wednesday, for monthly Man Church gatherings for men, for senior adult luncheons, and for retreats and conferences. Facility information and pricing are available through the church office.

HBC Kids: Birth through Sixth Grade

HBC Kids exists to point children from birth through sixth grade to Jesus in age-appropriate, safe, creative, and fun environments. The Sunday experience begins at the door: families with kids check in at the Information and Guest Services station and are walked to a secure check-in area. Every HBC volunteer who serves with children passes a background screening, and dedicated safety teams work the floor during services.

Sunday programming for children runs at every worship hour across both campuses. At MSC, preschool and children's classes meet at 8:30 and 9:45; WOW worship for K through 6th grade runs at 8:30. At the FLC, preschool and children's classes meet at 9:45 and 11:00; WOW worship for K through 6th grade runs at 11:00. The preschool and elementary curriculum is Lifeway's Gospel Project, which walks kids chronologically through the Bible over three years. PreK through fourth grade LIFE Group lessons are posted weekly so families can follow up at home.

Midweek programming for kids at MSC, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, takes a missions-focused shape. Nursery is open for babies through twos. Mission Friends serves three-year-olds through kindergarten. Girls in Action (GAs) for first through fifth grade and Royal Ambassadors (RAs) for first through fifth grade introduce boys and girls to the work of missionaries and the ways they can serve right where they live. The I'm a Christian Now class, a four-week course for first through sixth graders who have recently trusted Christ, walks children through baptism, the Lord's Supper, and the basics of the Christian faith. Children must complete this class before being baptized at Hilldale.

HBC Kids also offers Parent and Child Dedication, a ceremony in which parents publicly commit to raising their children in the instruction and discipline of the Lord and invite family and friends to support that commitment. There is no saving grace attached; it is a statement of intent and a moment of blessing.

Preteens and Students

CHARGE is the preteen ministry for fifth and sixth graders. The name stands for Created to Honor And Reflect God Everyday. CHARGE meets Wednesday nights from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the MSC gym with a clear rhythm: games from 5:00 to 5:20, dinner from 5:20 to 5:45, worship and Bible study from 5:45 to 6:30, and small groups until 7:30. Fifth graders rotate into RA or GA programming; sixth graders break into boys' and girls' small groups.

Student Ministry, branded as Encounter, gathers students in grades 7 through 12 on Wednesday nights at the FLC from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The night opens with free time in the gym and cafe, moves into large-group worship with music, games, and teaching, and finishes in age- and gender-specific small groups. Sunday LIFE Groups for students meet at 9:45 at both campuses: MSC's Student Building B and the FLC's Hebrews Cafe. The student ministry also runs an annual fall retreat at the Cottages Christian Retreat in Panama City Beach and communicates through a text line (text STUDENTS to 9312363084) and an Instagram account (@hbcencounter).

Wednesday Nights and LIFE University

Wednesday nights are Hilldale's busiest midweek gathering. The rhythm follows the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System calendar, so regular Wednesday programming pauses for school breaks and resumes each fall. During the school year, the schedule at MSC is layered: 11:00 a.m. prayer and Bible study at the FLC; 5:00 p.m. CHARGE for preteens; 6:00 p.m. Encounter for students at the FLC; and 6:30 p.m. classes across the MSC for preschoolers through sixth grade, the choir, the Spanish church Bible study, the Pastor's Bible Study and Prayer in the Worship Center, and LIFE University classes in various rooms.

LIFE University, the church's midweek Bible study and discipleship program, runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at MSC in semester blocks. The acronym LIFE stands for Love, Instruction, Fellowship, and Evangelism. Classes are designed for every stage of faith and walk weekly growth, from new believers to seasoned followers, and group together under spiritual growth tracks so newcomers can find their next step. Childcare is provided for all Wednesday activities at MSC during the school year.

Women

HBC Women describes itself as a welcoming, multi-generational community passionate about reading God's Word, knowing His truth, and living it out daily. The vision is to help women connect with Christ, build meaningful relationships, and share His love with the world.

Programming runs from Bible study to creative arts to fitness and fellowship. Disciple Groups, called DGroups, are small groups of three to five women committed to intentionally walking with one another to trust and follow Jesus. Women on Mission meets monthly for women who want to live on mission. MomLife welcomes mothers of any faith background. Widows Ministry offers monthly potluck gatherings at MSC Building B with laughter, friendship, and service projects. Blanketed with Prayer Ministry provides handmade prayer blankets to individuals in difficult seasons. Ezer Kenegdo is the girls' ministry for grades 7 through 12.

Recurring Bible studies include a fall semester study of Revelation on Saturday mornings, a Tuesday morning book study of Overcomer for women 18 and older at the FLC Senior Room, and Breathe: Making Room for Sabbath on Saturdays. The women's ministry also hosts an annual Embrace weekend for women of all ages, summer reading lists, fitness opportunities through the FLC, and creative arts classes ranging from painting and writing to photography and performance. Ladies can host a women's Bible study at home, work, or on a Hilldale campus.

Men

Becoming a man of God does not happen on accident, Hilldale's men's ministry says. The ministry is intentionally structured to give men places to gather, study, and serve.

Man Church meets on the second Tuesday of most months from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the FLC. Men of every age, including elementary, middle, and high school boys, are welcome. The format is simple: a free meal, two songs of worship, and a short message from a pastor. No sign-up is needed. Twice-weekly men's Bible studies meet Tuesday mornings at 6:00 a.m. and Wednesday mornings at 6:30 a.m. at the FLC Senior Adult Room.

MMA, the men's disciple group model, brings three to five men together to intentionally walk with each other to trust and follow Jesus. MMA stands for Meet, Memorize, and Ask. Groups choose a Bible reading plan (Hilldale recommends the F260 plan or the YouVersion-based Bible Recap) and meet in homes, workplaces, coffee shops, or any convenient place. Multiplication is built into the model; each group aims to launch new groups with new believers. Men can also serve through the General Repair and Maintenance Crew, Disaster Relief trips, and FUEL bagging.

Adults 55+ and the Widows Ministry

Adults 55 and older gather for a monthly catered luncheon at the FLC, along with outings and events built around faith, friendship, community, fun, and laughter. The luncheon is free; registration opens in advance so the kitchen knows how to plan.

The Widows Ministry serves women who have lost a spouse. Monthly potluck meetings are held at 11:00 a.m. at MSC Building B on dates scheduled through the year, with laughter, friendship, and tangible community service woven in. A GriefShare program is also offered for anyone walking through grief.

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a Bible-based, Christ-centered recovery ministry that helps people find freedom from hurts, hang-ups, and habits. Hilldale hosts Celebrate Recovery every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8: 5 p.m. at MSC Buildings A and B; men meet in Building A and women in Building B. Childcare is available. The Landing, a Celebrate Recovery curriculum adapted for junior high and high school students, runs within the student ministry.

FUEL: Feeding Students Across the County

FUEL is Hilldale's weekend food ministry for students in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. The program partners with more than seventy churches and businesses to feed over 2,300 students each week who depend on school lunches and have no guaranteed meals over the weekend. Hilldale alone packs bags for more than 200 students a week.

Volunteers bag FUEL bags at the HBC Admin Office basement (112 Lois Lane) on set Sunday afternoons, with all ages welcome to serve. Donations of items like peanut butter crackers, cheese sandwich crackers, Nutri-Grain bars, single-serve cereal, granola bars, applesauce pouches, pudding cups, chips, juice boxes, and plastic grocery bags keep the shelves stocked. $5 fills a bag for one student for one weekend; $150 feeds a student over weekends for an entire school year. During HOOPS basketball season at the FLC, a seasonal concession stand raises additional funds for FUEL.

Good Samaritan and Local Outreach

The Good Samaritan Ministry has served Clarksville for more than forty years with free medical and dental care in Jesus' name, and welcomes volunteers. The Compassion Ministry visits elderly members and neighbors who could use company. Care Ministry extends the reach further with nursing home ministry, bereavement support, ESL, and meal trains.

Hilldale partners with several local agencies in the Clarksville area. The House of Hope food pantry, sponsored by Hilldale, distributes food on Mondays and Thursdays. The church's Community Resource Guide connects people to Clarksville Urban Ministries, Manna Café Ministries, Loaves & Fishes, Hope Pregnancy Center, YaiPak community outreach, bill-pay assistance, and crisis intervention services. Disaster Relief is offered when neighbors are affected by natural disasters.

La Roca Eterna and New Life Deaf Church

La Roca Eterna, Spanish for a Hilldale is hosting the Hispanic church plant in MSC Building B at 11:00 a.m. each Sunday and during the 9:45 LIFE Group hour. About 24,000 Hispanic and Latino individuals live in Montgomery County, roughly 11 percent of the population. La Roca Eterna exists to reach that community for Christ, and the Hilldale staff welcomes the partnership as a way to reflect the diversity of the body of Christ.

New Life Deaf Church meets every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at the FLC. All are welcome, and interpretation is provided for hearing attendees. Hilldale's commitment to accessibility also extends to Man Church, where ASL interpretation is available on request through the New Life Deaf Church pastor.

Foster Care and Adoption

Hilldale's Foster Care and Adoption Ministry supports families who have opened their homes to children through foster care or adoption. The ministry provides resources for navigating the process, community for sharing struggles and victories, and Support Teams that offer meals, help with household chores, and encouragement along the way. Hilldale partners with Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes for case management and training.

Mission Trips

Hilldale's vision of making, maturing, and multiplying disciples extends beyond Clarksville. Each year the church sends teams locally and abroad. Recent and planned trips have included Clarksville YAIPak Serve Days, an Arlington, Texas trip, and a Dublin, Ireland spring break trip. Local mission opportunities point volunteers to Clarksville Urban Ministries, Manna Café, Loaves & Fishes, the House of Hope, FUEL bagging, Good Samaritan, and disaster relief deployments.

What Hilldale Believes

Hilldale Baptist Church holds beliefs consistent with fellow Southern Baptists as described in the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message. The church believes the Bible is the authoritative word of God, that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and that the church exists to make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus. Anyone, no matter their story, is welcomed.

The church's welcome is straightforward: at Hilldale, no one is met with shame, guilt, or condemnation. What people wear, how they voted, or what questions they carry do not affect how they are received. Visitors are invited to come as they are and find a place at the table.

The Pastoral Team

The pastoral team at Hilldale is led by Senior Pastor Dr. Larry D. Robertson. Paul Scott serves as Associate Pastor, Lyndel Littleton as Worship Pastor, Tim Munoz as Education Pastor, Scott Pittman as Community Impact Pastor, and Michael McDaniel as NextGen Pastor. Hannah Conway serves as Women's Minister and Communications, Seth Devine as Student Minister, and Ramona Ambrose as Preschool and Children's Minister. Mark Youngs directs Athletic Ministries, Perry Smith leads the Media team, and Jonathan Bidwell serves as Broadcast Media Associate.

Three administrative assistants (Christi Williams, Donna Wyatt, and Julie Gasaway) and Office Manager Ellen Bagwell keep the office running Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A pastor on call is reachable after hours and on weekends at 931-920-2730. Anyone with questions or prayer needs can reach the church at hbc@hilldale.org or 931-648-8031, or visit in person at 112 Lois Lane.
