Harvest Valley Church has called Pleasanton home since 2008, when Pastor Derek Meekins and his wife Kyra accepted the call to lead a small congregation in the East Bay. Today the church is in a unique season: regular Sunday services have temporarily moved to the Rosewood Commons Conference Center on Rosewood Drive while a permanent church home takes shape elsewhere in Pleasanton, expected to open in early 2027.
Through every transition, the mission has stayed the same. The church is committed to seeing lives saved, healed, and discipled through the truth of God's Word and the power of the Holy Spirit, and to equipping followers of Jesus to walk in the fullness of God's purpose.
A Church in the Making on Owens Drive
Six years ago, Harvest Valley sensed it had outgrown its original home. A building project was launched, and construction is now underway on a permanent church facility in Pleasanton. Until that building opens, the church has settled into the Rosewood Commons Conference Center at 4400 Rosewood Drive, where Sunday services are held at 10:30 AM.
Midweek ministries and the church offices operate from 6640 Owens Drive in Pleasanton. Office hours run Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Gifts can be mailed to Harvest Valley Church at the Owens Drive address, and a separate online portal supports the building fund.
What Harvest Valley Believes
Harvest Valley is non-denominational with a strong charismatic flavor. The church holds that the Bible is the infallible Word of God and the all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. Members affirm a triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - and believe that redemption comes only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
The church embraces the baptism of the Holy Spirit along with the gift of speaking in tongues, and teaches that divine healing is for today. Members believe heaven awaits those who follow Christ, while those who turn from Him face consequences. The final article of their statement of faith is the Great Commission: the church's task is to share God's plan of salvation with the lost in their city, country, and world.
Four "Pillars of Purpose" shape the church's ministry: being ministers of salvation, ministers of wholeness for body, mind, and spirit, ministers of discipleship, and ministers to the practical needs of the poor and needy.
Sunday Mornings at Rosewood Commons
Sunday worship at 10:30 AM is the central gathering of the week. The service is open to anyone, and translation is available in over 40 languages through a Tap Tag system. Worshippers can tap or scan the Tap Tag in front of their seat during the service, select "Sermon Translation," and connect to the church's broadcast channel. From there they can choose their preferred language and listen through headphones or read along with the transcript while the message is preached.
Those who cannot attend in person can join via a YouTube livestream or catch up later through the church's podcast, available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Sermon recordings and other media are gathered on the Listen & Watch page.
Kids Point: Birth Through Fifth Grade
Children from birth through fifth grade have their own world at Harvest Valley called Kids Point, which meets during the Sunday service. Three age-specific rooms make the experience tailored:
- The Cove for birth through age 2
- The Reef for preschool and kindergarten
- Surge Kids for first through fifth grade
Older classes include a full hour of worship, crafts, coloring, games, a Bible story, discussion, and application. Children are not required to be in Kids Point; families are welcome to keep children with them in the main service if they prefer. A Mother's Lounge is also available, with a diaper-changing table for parents of babies.
Check-in uses a secure system that ties a unique code to each child. Parents show the code at pick-up. The system also allows teachers to send one of five pre-set texts during service if needed. Each week, parents receive a Sunday Summary by email with the lesson, memory verse, and discussion questions.
Children's ministry at Harvest Valley is built on the conviction that kids can be taught the same Word of God as adults when it is presented in an engaging way. Children's Pastor Faith Lehman oversees Kids Point and can be reached at children@harvestvalley.org.
Uprising Youth: Middle and High School
Middle and high school students gather for Uprising Youth on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM. The ministry is led by Eric and Rebeca Perales, who also serve as Worship Pastors. Uprising is built around the conviction that young people are called to know Jesus as King of Kings and to see their identity shaped as sons and daughters of God.
The goal is to make it easy for teenagers to know God and His people, and hard to walk away from Him. Worship, teaching, and community are designed to give students a place to belong and to grow. The youth calendar is updated regularly online.
Revive Young Adults
Revive is the young adults ministry for those 18 to 31. The group meets on Tuesdays at 6640 Owens Drive. Optional worship and prayer begin at 6:30 PM, and the full group kicks off at 7:00 PM, running until 8:30 PM. Worship and Bible study are followed by time for fellowship.
The atmosphere is intentionally open. The church invites anyone in: "You don't need to be a theologian to discuss the Bible. Come as you are and let's grow together." The group's mission is to become mature Christians who know and obey the Word, love God, and love people. Raquel Carreiro, who also oversees assimilation at the church, pastors Revive.
Celebrate Recovery on Friday Nights
On Friday nights at 7:00 PM, Harvest Valley hosts Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered program that applies the 12 Steps with biblical comparisons and Eight Recovery Principles based on Jesus' teachings. The meeting is open to everyone, men and women, and begins with a combined time of worship before breaking into gender-specific small groups.
The format includes a main meeting at 7:00 PM with worship and a lesson, testimony, or chip ceremony, followed by open share groups at 7:30 PM. Pastor Ed Untalan and Agnes Untalan lead the ministry, which exists to help people find freedom from hurts, habits, and hang-ups of every kind.
Wisdom Club: A Place for the Seasoned
Wisdom Club is Harvest Valley's ministry for adults 50 and older. The group meets once a month for fellowship, a meal, and an activity. Its name and tagline come from Psalm 92, which describes the righteous flourishing like a palm tree and bearing fruit in old age. Wisdom Club members find a relaxed place to stay connected across generations.
Women's Ministry and Men's Ministry
The Women's Ministry, led by Kyra Meekins, is devoted to cultivating women of the church and community in faith, Christian growth, and service. Women gather for Bible studies that have included "Satisfy My Thirsty Soul" by Linda Dillow and other group studies built around sharing personal experiences, prayer, and encouragement. Past participants describe the gatherings as a place to find the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit among women walking similar journeys.
The Men's Ministry exists to raise up men whose fear of God is stronger than their fear of the world's judgment. The group meets regularly, with their current Bible study walking line by line through the book of James in a study called "True Religion." The men describe their gatherings with the phrase "iron sharpens iron," and they emphasize walking boldly and courageously in faith.
Prayer and the Prayer Team
Charlie and Amy Rapp serve as Senior Associate Pastors overseeing prayer at Harvest Valley. A Prayer Team is in place for those who want to serve in this way. Pastor Charlie also oversees the broader Dream Team of volunteers. Faye Quezada leads Spanish discipleship for the church, building bridges to Spanish-speaking neighbors.
Reaching Beyond Pleasanton: Missions and Outreach
Missions is central to Harvest Valley's identity. The church believes it is called to partner with men and women who have a vision for reaching the lost. The mission department focuses on finding, funding, and sending worthy candidates to the mission field, including into remote and culturally unfamiliar places.
Harvest Valley supports full-time missionaries and ministries in India, Kenya, Cambodia, South Africa, Uganda, the Philippines, Thailand, and the country of Georgia. Locally, the church partners with several organizations:
- City Serve - connecting people with food, emergency shelter, housing, transportation, and medical services
- Next Step - unplanned pregnancy support services
- Love Never Fails - a Bay Area anti-human trafficking organization
- Chi Alpha Campus Ministries at UC Davis
Outreach at Harvest Valley is rooted in James 1:27 and Acts 2:45 - caring for widows, orphans, and the needy among them. Short-term missions opportunities are announced as they arise.
Getting Connected
For newcomers, Sunday morning is the easiest way to experience Harvest Valley. The 10:30 AM service at Rosewood Commons is family-friendly, with Kids Point available for infants through fifth graders and a Mother's Lounge for parents of babies. The translation Tap Tag, livestream on YouTube, and podcast feed on Spotify and Apple Podcasts make the service accessible in dozens of languages.
Those who want to go deeper can join a weekly Bible study, a small group, or one of the ministry teams. Serving opportunities are available with the Prayer Team, Worship and Media Team, Children's Team, and Dream Team. New families can fill out a New Family Form online to make Sunday check-in smoother, and those interested in supporting the new building project can give to the Building Fund through the church's online portal.
