Grace Bible Church: A Church on West Road Serving Moore Since 1994

Independent Fundamentalist Church in Moore, South Carolina

Grace Bible Church is a non-denominational church in Moore, South Carolina, serving Spartanburg and Greenville counties since 1994 with blended Sunday worship, robust children's and student ministries, and a slate of small groups and outreach ministries.

About Grace Bible Church

Grace Bible Church sits on West Road in Moore, South Carolina, a small Spartanburg County community that borders Roebuck and sits just south of the city of Spartanburg. Since 1994, the congregation has gathered on that same road to serve residents of both Spartanburg and Greenville counties. Today Grace runs two Sunday morning services, a full calendar of ministries for every age and stage, and a slate of outreach efforts designed to care for its neighbors in the Upstate.

Two Sunday Mornings on West Road

Worship meets at 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. on Sundays, with the 9:00 service also carried on a livestream for those who cannot attend in person. A typical morning sounds like a busy small church: conversation in the lobby, singing in the auditorium, and the laughter of children spilling out to the playground. Greeters meet visitors at the front door, and a few parking spots near the main entrance are reserved for first-time attendees.

Dress is relaxed. A few men wear jackets and ties, but jeans and casual wear are common. Visitors are invited to come as they are. Coffee is available in the lobby before each service, and ushers can answer questions about seating, accessibility, or finding your way around the building. A printed bulletin called Grace Notes lists the service order and upcoming events. After the service, a prayer team stands at the front of the auditorium to pray confidentially with anyone who would like it.

The music is a deliberate blend of contemporary praise songs and traditional hymns. The playlist for each Sunday is posted on the church's Spotify so anyone can listen ahead of time. Each week one of the pastors preaches from the Bible, teaching that emphasizes the grace of God and the call to follow Jesus in everyday life.

Grace Kids, Grace Students, and Young Adults

Family Pastor Caleb Davis oversees the children's and student ministries. Grace Kids serves children from infants through fifth grade. During the school year, classes are offered for infants through third grade at both services, while fourth and fifth graders meet during the second service. In the summer, programming is offered for infants through first grade at both hours. Children are checked in at a kiosk in the lobby, where parents receive a claim number matching a nametag for their child. If a child needs a parent during the service, the parent is texted directly. Families with young children are welcome to sit together; the back row of the auditorium is reserved for them, and a nursing mothers area is available.

The children's curriculum is The Gospel Project, a Bible-focused, Christ-centered, four-year walk through the whole storyline of Scripture. Parents are given resources to reinforce the lessons at home throughout the week.

Grace Students exists for students in grades six through twelve. During the school year, students gather on Wednesday nights from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. for pizza, in-depth teaching, small group discussion, and worship. The ministry aims to give students a deeper grasp of the gospel, a biblical worldview, and the ability to give a winsome defense for their hope in Christ. In addition to weekly meetings, the students enjoy summer camp, a winter retreat, and other events. The ministry is led by Caleb Davis with a team of student leaders.

For those aged 18 to 29, single or married without children, the Young Adults Ministry meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., August through May, at the Lilley home. The evening includes refreshments, prayer, and Bible study, with occasional potlucks and game nights. Aaron and Kim Lilley lead the group.

Grace Groups and Grace Institute

Grace Groups are the small-group engine of the church. Drawing on Acts 2 and the New Testament picture of believers eating, praying, and studying Scripture together, these groups meet weekly from August through May in homes across the Upstate and are open to all adults. Grace Institute runs alongside the small groups, offering deeper Bible and theology training for those who want to grow in their understanding of Scripture.

Those interested in joining a group can connect through a simple online form.

Men, Women, and Seasoned with Grace

Women of Grace encourages women to form discipleship connections within the church body. Led by Lori Stribling, the ministry offers Bible studies, a fall reconnect event, monthly connect gatherings, holiday brunches, worship nights, and community service opportunities throughout the year.

Men's Ministry, led by Slim Routon, is built around a monthly breakfast held the first Saturday of each month from September through May. The morning includes a hearty breakfast, Scripture-based teaching, worship, and a personal testimony. Fathers are encouraged to bring their sons. Men also gather biweekly on Wednesday evenings at the church for Bible study and prayer. A couple of times a year, the men of Grace come together for service projects, helping widows, single moms, and elderly church members with home maintenance needs.

Seasoned with Grace serves the senior adults of the church. Byron Harvey leads the ministry, providing opportunities for older believers to remain connected, encouraged, and engaged with the wider body.

Becoming Parents of Grace

Led by Rachel Honshell, this ministry supports families in the season of building their families, whether that season is filled with the joy of a pregnancy or marked by the grief of infertility or loss. The ministry connects people so they can meet each other's needs, provides resources, checks in with pregnant and postpartum mothers, coordinates baby showers for first-time moms, and sets up meal trains when a baby arrives. Foster and adoptive families receive the same care and attention.

Helping Hands and the Carpenter's Table

Hannah Choi and Tiger Choi lead Helping Hands, the church's mercy and benevolence ministry. The Carpenter's Table, led by Melissa Lednum, extends the church's care into the wider community through food and meal ministry. Both efforts are part of Grace's commitment to being salt and light beyond the walls of the building.

Freedom Groups

Grace runs a men's Freedom Group for those wrestling with pornography, sexual brokenness, or other patterns they cannot break. The groups are small, confidential, and meet weekly for sixty minutes. The curriculum combines the Seven Pillars of Freedom with a 12-step style framework. Interested men can begin anonymously by sending a confidential text to (864) 492-1745.

A Praying Church

Prayer is woven into the life of the church. Denise Sonke leads the prayer team, and a weekly prayer list is sent to members who sign up. The church maintains a public prayer wall and a private prayer request form for personal or general needs.

What Grace Believes

Grace Bible Church exists to glorify God by making disciples of all nations. Its doctrinal statement is adapted, by permission, from the Gospel Coalition Confessional Statement, and affirms belief in one God eternally existing in three Persons, the full inspiration and authority of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, the creation of humanity in God's image, the fall into sin, God's gracious plan of redemption through the cross and resurrection of Christ, justification by grace alone through faith alone, the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, the present reality and future consummation of the kingdom of God, the church as the body of Christ, the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper, and the personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ. The church practices believer's baptism by immersion and observes the Lord's Supper as acts of covenant renewal.

The church partners with the Gospel Coalition, The Pillar Network, Frontline Missions, and the SBC Cooperative Program, and gives through 9Marks.

Leadership

Eric Vander Ploeg serves as Lead Pastor, with Ryan Leasure as Associate Pastor and Caleb Davis as Family Pastor. The church is elder-led, with Jack Jarrett, Steve Newton, and Vic Rogers serving as elders alongside the pastors. Two pastoral residents, Robert Lindblad and Seth Zibalese, are in the early stages of ministry. A large team of ministry leaders, volunteers, and support staff serve in every area of church life, from communications and finance to safety, facilities, and hospitality.
