Three Congregations Under One Roof in Burien
Beverly Park Baptist Church sits on First Avenue South in Burien, Washington, just south of Seattle. The building hosts three congregations that worship in three languages: the English-speaking Beverly Park Baptist Church, the Spanish-speaking Iglesia Evangélica Bautista, and the Khmer-speaking Khmer Evangelical Church. The leadership calls the wider community the body of Christ and treasures the cross-cultural fellowship shared at 11659 First Ave S.
A Mission to Glorify God, Grow Together, Give Back
The church's slogan captures its whole ministry. The mission statement says it plainly: Beverly Park exists to transform its neighborhoods with the Gospel by displaying the love of Christ through Christ-centered worship, meaningful relationships, and biblical instruction. Three phrases drive the work: Glorify God, Grow Together, and Give Back. Glorifying God means celebrating the central miracle of the Christian faith, that Christ died for sinners so they could be reconciled to God. Growing together happens as brothers and sisters hold one another accountable and share life with joy. Giving back shows the community God's grace through the gospel and meets practical needs.
Sundays at Beverly Park
Sunday School for every age starts at 9:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall and wraps up by 10:15 a.m., leaving time for families to settle into the sanctuary. The English-language Morning Worship Service begins at 10:30 a.m. and is also livestreamed on Facebook for those who cannot attend in person. Later in the day, the Khmer Evangelical Church gathers for Sunday School at 2:00 p.m. and worship at 3:00 p.m., and the Iglesia Evangélica Bautista meets for Sunday School at 10:30 a.m. and Spanish worship at 12:30 p.m. On Palm Sunday, during Vacation Bible School week, at Thanksgiving, and at Christmas, all three congregations join together for combined services, food, and fellowship.
Children on Sunday Morning
The church welcomes children of all ages into its Sunday rhythm. Sunday School classes for every age run from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. During the 10:30 worship service, infants and toddlers begin with their parents in the sanctuary and then move partway through to Children's Church. Elementary-age children in grades 1 through 5 stay in the sanctuary for the full service, joining the rest of the church in worship.
Midweek Small Groups and Bible Studies
Life at Beverly Park extends well beyond Sunday morning. A small group meets every Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Baird House (parsonage-1), where Senior Pastor Joshua Davis leads a time of food, fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. On Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Deacon Pat Iverson hosts another small group at the Layton home with the same mix of food and study. Women's Bible Study gathers on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at parsonage-1, and women bring breakfast to share. A Men's Prayer Breakfast convenes in the Fellowship Hall on the first Saturday of every month at 8:00 a.m. For older adults, a 55+ Luncheon happens on the second Wednesday of each month at noon in the Fellowship Hall, with guest speakers offering testimonies and an encouraging word.
Youth, College, and Senior Connections
BPY Youth Group gathers every Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Baird House (parsonage-1), welcoming young people ages 10 to 18 for fellowship and discipleship. On Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the church reaches out to students at the South Seattle College main campus on 16th Avenue SW. Every Thursday morning, Pastor Joshua Davis leads a Bible study from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Normandy Park Senior Living, bringing teaching and conversation to residents of that community.
Community Outreach in Burien and White Center
Outreach is woven into the weekly schedule. Coffee and Theology meets Mondays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Dubsea Coffee in White Center, turning a neighborhood coffee shop into a place for conversation about God. Play Lounge fills the Fellowship Hall every Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. with a free community play space for children ages 0 to 5 and their caregivers, and a dedicated Facebook page keeps families up to date. A free ESL class is offered twice a week for the Burien and White Center community, meeting Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Classroom #5. The church also partners with the Northwest Baptist Impact Offering and collects gifts through Operation Christmas Child each fall.
What the Church Believes
Beverly Park Baptist Church holds to the Baptist Faith and Message, the confessional statement of the Southern Baptist Convention, and a copy of the church's own Constitution and By-Laws is available for those who want to read further. The worship services follow a book-by-book, expository pattern. Recent preaching has walked straight through that book of Daniel, with sermons on Christian courage, prayer, repentance, reliance, and the sovereignty of God, alongside series in Romans and Matthew. Guest preachers also bring the word on occasion.
Becoming a Member and Getting Involved
Membership follows a simple three-step path. Prospective members fill out a registration form, download a New Members class packet, and then attend a four-week class offered twice a year in January and June, meeting Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. After completing it, they are voted in at a regularly scheduled church business meeting. For those who want to serve before joining, the SERVE ministry invites anyone to fill out a volunteer sign-up form and download Volunteer Descriptions; staff then work with each person to find a good fit. Members can also request use of the building for events, and outside groups can apply through the Rental Request form.
Giving, Sermons, and Staying Connected
Online giving is available through the church's Giving Portal, and donations through Zelle sent to info@beverlyparkchurch.org help the church avoid processing fees. Credit card gifts are also accepted. The weekly livestream is on Facebook, and the sermon archive stretches back through year-long series, with recent audio and video for every message. Upcoming events can be synced to a phone through the church's Google Calendar, and the latest news is shared on Facebook and Instagram at beverlyparkbc.
