A Baptist Church on Diamond Drive
First Baptist Church Los Alamos (FBCLA) sits at 2200 Diamond Drive, just off the road that threads through the town of Los Alamos, New Mexico. A Southern Baptist congregation associated with the Baptist Convention of New Mexico and aligned with the Southern Baptist Convention, FBCLA holds to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and has built its identity around three simple phrases that appear across its materials: Glorifying God, Growing Disciples, and Going to the World.
Sundays at 10:30 AM
Worship is the heartbeat of the church, and it happens every Sunday morning at 10:30 AM. The church describes its services as a place where people passionately worship God in song and gather to hear the Word of God preached. FBCLA understands worship as more than singing: drawing on Romans 12:1, the church teaches that worship is a whole-life offering, a daily choosing to stay on the altar, and that it was never meant to be a solitary pursuit. That conviction shapes the warmth and the seriousness of the gathered congregation.
For those who cannot be in the building, the Sunday service is livestreamed, and a full archive of recent messages lives on the church's Vimeo page so anyone can catch up on a series or a Sunday they missed. The church also shares Spotify playlists of the music sung together, so the congregation can sing along at home during the week.
Children's Worship for K through 5th Grade
Children are a first-class part of Sunday morning at FBCLA. Children's Worship is offered for kids in Kindergarten through fifth grade during the main worship service. Families check their children in at the Children's Worship area before the service begins, where a volunteer greets them and gets them settled. Each week, kids gather for a simple, age-appropriate Bible lesson followed by a hands-on activity that reinforces what they have learned. After the service, parents return to the same area for pickup. A signed consent and release form is required for new families and is available to download from the church's site.
Youth on Sunday Evenings
Students in grades 6 through 12 have their own gathering on Sunday nights from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in the Youth Room. A typical evening starts with a shared meal, moves into a Bible lesson aimed at helping students fall more in love with God's Word, and ends with games and time to socialize until parents arrive. The ministry is built around belonging: a place where teens can ask real questions and grow in faith alongside peers. New students need a signed Consent and Release form on file before attending, and the church welcomes questions through the office email.
Small Groups Throughout the Week
Beyond Sunday morning, FBCLA's small groups are where most of the discipleship happens. Groups meet weekly on campus and in homes across the area, digging into scripture, asking honest questions, and encouraging one another through daily life. Three groups are listed on the church's site: a Young Adults group that meets Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM in Roc Room A, led by Tyler and Jordan Ray for college-aged adults and up; a White Rock group that meets Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM in a host's home, led by Roy and Dena Brent, open to all ages; and the Ladies Bible Study, a biweekly Monday evening gathering at 6:30 PM in Roc Room A or a host's home, led by Kathy Hansen. Anyone interested can email the office to be connected.
Men's Ministry on Saturday Mornings
Once a month, the men of the church gather on Saturday mornings at 8:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall for a time of breakfast, fellowship, and Bible teaching. The morning follows a simple rhythm: arrive and eat together, listen to a lesson and discuss God's Word, pray for one another, and then linger for conversation. The point, as FBCLA describes it, is to help men keep each other honest about the rest of the week and to follow after Christ together. RSVPs by email help the team know how much breakfast to prepare.
Women's Ministry and Ladies Bible Study
The women's ministry is built for women of every age and season of life. At its center is a biweekly Ladies Bible Study on Monday evenings at 6:30 PM, where women open scripture together, ask honest questions, pray, and get to know one another over the course of a study. The ministry also runs a Summer Book Club, gathering once a month over the summer to discuss faith-based reads. Inquiries about joining either effort are routed through the church office.
What FBCLA Believes
FBCLA's doctrinal statement, drawn from the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, holds the Bible as the inspired, trustworthy Word of God, the absolute standard of truth. It confesses one true God who exists eternally in three co-equal persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and affirms that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son who was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the substitute for sinners, rose again on the third day, and will return as reigning King. Humanity, made in God's image, fell into sin and stands in need of a Savior. Salvation is offered freely to all who place personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, encompassing regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. The church teaches that Christian baptism is by immersion of a believer in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that the Lord's Communion is a symbolic memorial of the Redeemer's death anticipating His second coming.
