Loving God, Loving People, Serving Hebron and Beyond
First Baptist Church Hebron sits on East Hebron Parkway in Carrollton, Texas, where it has gathered as a community of believers since 1883. The church describes its purpose in three phrases: Loving God, Loving People, Serving Hebron and Beyond. That motto captures both the heart of its gathered life and the scope of its reach, from the neighborhood around its building to missionaries sent around the world.
Rooted in Hebron Since 1883
The congregation's roots go back more than 140 years. Over that span, FBC Hebron has helped launch local churches, sent out missionaries, and worked to bring the gospel into its surrounding neighborhoods. The church gathers that history into three words: Believing (sharing the gospel with others), Becoming (growing as disciples in unity), and Belonging (a community of believers living faithful lives in Christ). Today the church treats its long legacy not as a museum piece but as an ongoing story of ministry across Denton and Collin Counties and beyond.
Sunday Morning at FBC Hebron
Sunday is the focal point of the week at FBC Hebron. Bible Study runs at 9:30 am, and the main worship service begins at 10:50 am. Services last a little over an hour and include singing, prayer, and preaching centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Each Sunday the pastor walks through a specific passage of Scripture, and the church uses the New Living Translation (NLT) as its teaching text. The pastor provides handouts and on-screen notes so attendees can follow along, and the same resources are available online.
The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. As the church puts it, come as you are: jeans, dresses, and sports coats all fit in. First-time guests are greeted in the lobby by a team that helps families check children into their classes and answers questions about anything from service times to what is taught in Sunday School. After the service, staff and volunteers gather at the Gathering Place across from the worship center to meet visitors. Arriving 10 to 15 minutes early makes the visit smoother.
Hebron Kids Place
Children are a major part of Sunday at FBC Hebron. Hebron Kids Place serves infants through fourth grade during both services, with classrooms for birth through kindergarten at 9:30 am and during the 10:50 am service, and classes for first through fourth graders at 9:30 am. The curriculum uses singing, teaching, and hands-on crafts to show how the whole Bible points to Jesus.
The check-in process is straightforward. Parents receive a customized name tag for their child and a matching security tag to present at pick-up. The children's ministry takes safety seriously, maintaining standards in volunteer screening, training, and reporting. Families who want to worship together are welcome to keep children in the service. A nursing room is available in the Children's Center, and an overflow room with a closed-circuit feed gives kids space to move around while still hearing the sermon.
Hebron Youth
For older students, Hebron Youth is a community of teenagers focused on discipleship and deep friendships. The youth ministry encourages students to live for Christ in their daily lives through peer groups and time spent together, with the goal of forging relationships that last well beyond the youth years.
Wednesday Nights Around the Table
Wednesday evening has its own rhythm at FBC Hebron. At 6:00 pm, the Fellowship Hall fills for a shared meal with warm food and warm fellowship. At 6:30 pm, Senior Pastor Trog Trogdon leads an intimate discipleship study in the same space. The first meal is free for newcomers, and the suggested cost is $10 per person. Families and individuals are encouraged to RSVP so the kitchen knows how much to prepare.
The Holiday Bazaar and the Ministry of the Month
Each fall the church hosts its Holiday Bazaar, now in its eighth year. Vendors fill the building with hand-crafted gifts and gourmet edibles, creating a family-friendly start to the holiday shopping season. Local artisans reserve booth spaces through the church.
FBC Hebron also takes on a Ministry of the Month, focusing on a particular outreach each month. Recent months have highlighted Our Calling, a ministry that serves the homeless community in the DFW area. Church members drop off donations throughout the month to support the work.
Following Along Online
For those unable to attend in person, services are livestreamed on the church's YouTube channel. Sermon clips and full messages are also posted on YouTube and on the church's Facebook page. Giving is available online with options for one-time, weekly, or monthly gifts.
Pastoral Team
The church is served by Senior Pastor Trog Trogdon and Executive Pastor Nathan Strayhorn. Pastor Nathan focuses on welcoming newcomers and connecting them with the life of the church. A note from Pastor Steve Smith is also on the church's About page as part of its online welcome.
