A Church for Macomb, for the World, and for You
Two Sunday gatherings, a door team at the entrance, and a sanctuary where coffee is poured and Bibles are tucked under every chair. Fellowship Chapel is a Christian church on East 14 Mile Road in Sterling Heights, and the people who walk through its doors come from across Macomb County and beyond. The congregation describes itself with a simple motto: Love God. Love People. Everything else flows from that.
The church exists for three overlapping communities. It is for Macomb, serving neighbors across the county. It is for the World, partnering with 13 mission organizations in 10 countries. And it is for You, an expression the staff uses often to remind visitors that the door is open. As the church puts it, Jesus has saved and freed us, and the people of Fellowship Chapel want everyone to experience that same hope and freedom too.
Sunday Mornings at Fellowship Chapel
Services are held at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. A door team greets guests at the entrance, and a Welcome Table offers a first-time visitor gift. Coffee is on hand in the sanctuary, and Bibles are placed under every seat for anyone who wants to take one home. Each gathering includes music, a relevant message, and other elements designed to help people encounter the love of God.
Music is a particular point of pride. Fellowship Chapel produces its own music through Fellowship MSC, the worship collective that writes and records songs used on Sunday mornings alongside material from the global church. The collective releases music on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Instagram, and describes its songs as the heartbeat of the church community. Those who cannot attend in person can watch services on the church's YouTube channel.
Discovery Zone: Kids Birth Through Fifth Grade
Children are not an afterthought at Fellowship Chapel. Trained and background-checked volunteers lead the Discovery Zone during both Sunday gatherings for kids from birth through fifth grade. The Sunday program, called Fellowship Children, meets during the services and includes games, crafts, music, age-specific lessons, and interactive Bible teaching.
Families fill out a registration form that covers all children in the household. On Sunday, parents check in at the Registration Station near the gym entrance and receive matching name tags that must be presented for pickup. Surfaces and toys are wiped down at the end of each day. Snacks and drinks are not usually provided, though some activities include food, and parents are asked to note any allergies on the registration form. The verse 3 John 1:4 anchors the philosophy: I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
On Wednesday nights, the Discovery Zone runs from 6:30 PM for kids age four through fifth grade, separate from the student ministry. The midweek programming includes a Bible teaching, small group discussion, a game, snack, and a craft. Children's Ministry Director Tiffany Turner oversees the program.
Bible Buddies is a further option for kids. It pairs children with an older believer for mentorship, study, and friendship, giving families another way to weave faith into everyday life beyond Sunday and Wednesday programming.
Wednesday Nights for Students and Young Adults
Fellowship Students is the ministry for sixth through twelfth graders, meeting on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM alongside the children's program. Student Directors, Adult Leaders, and Student Leaders create space for teens and preteens to feel seen and welcomed. The program includes weekly hangouts, retreats, mission trips, and special events, with the verse 1 Timothy 4:12 as a guidepost: Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. A student registration form is filled out before the first visit, and the ministry has its own Instagram presence at @students.fellowship.
The Young Adults ministry gathers monthly and is open to anyone in college, starting a career, or navigating early adulthood. The stated goals are belonging, growing in practical faith, and serving others locally and globally. There is no dress code and no judgment, the church emphasizes, just a desire to find a supportive community in a season of many unknowns.
Community Groups and Bible Buddies
Community Groups are designed to help people grow deeper in faith and relationships through meaningful connection and shared study. Each group gathers around a book or Bible study, creating space to learn, discuss, and apply what is being discovered together. Groups consist of 6 to 15 people and meet at the church for 6 to 10 week stretches, with new groups launching in October, February, and at various points throughout the summer.
Bible Buddies offers a more relational approach, pairing people one-on-one or in small pairs for accountability, scripture reading, and prayer. Together, Community Groups and Bible Buddies give members a way to do life alongside others rather than alone.
Walking Through Hard Seasons Together
The Care ministry at Fellowship Chapel surrounds people through some of life's hardest seasons. DivorceCare meets weekly for adults navigating separation or divorce, combining video teaching and group discussion in a confidential setting. GriefShare offers the same kind of supportive environment for those grieving the death of a loved one. The church also hosts weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, open to anyone seeking help with alcohol dependency, with no cost or registration required.
Pastoral counseling is available for those who want biblically grounded care, prayer, and guidance. The pastoral team listens, prays, and walks with individuals and families through emotional and spiritual struggles. Care ministries are designed to help people find strength, hope, and community in every season.
forMacomb: Serving Sterling Heights and Beyond
Outreach is at the heart of who Fellowship Chapel says it is. The church runs serving days throughout the year, ranging from helping seniors with routine maintenance to packing care for those experiencing homelessness. The forMacomb Toy Drive runs year-round: a Fellowship Chapel music teacher works at a nearby elementary school where many students live in poverty, and gifts toys at the end of each semester for good behavior. Donations of new or gently used toys are welcomed, with special pushes in early May and early December.
Fellowship Chapel also partners with the Wave Project, which runs a winter shelter and a traveling shower and essentials van that brings warmth, beds, food, and basic supplies to people in the surrounding community. Other partner organizations include Compassion Pregnancy Center, Macomb Foster Closet, Reconciliation Ministries, Gateway to Glory Ministries, and Face Addiction Now. The church points visitors to these organizations for those needing pregnancy support, foster care resources, counseling, prison ministry, or addiction support.
Volunteers are also deployed behind the scenes each Sunday. The Welcome Team greets guests and helps them find seats. The Kids Team teaches and assists in children's programming. The Worship Team plays instruments, sings, runs sound, and operates slides. The Coffee Team makes the morning coffee, and the Media Team captures photo and video throughout the gathering.
fortheWorld: Homes, Mission Trips, and 13 Global Partners
Each November, the church sends a team to Juárez, Mexico, to build homes with Casas por Cristo for families earning less than $100 a week. Over five days, volunteers work alongside local pastors to serve families identified as having the greatest need. Each year, students and adult leaders also join a summer mission trip, working in small teams to repair and clean homes for residents in need.
The church supports 13 mission partners in 10 countries. Their work ranges from building homes and planting churches to caring for orphans, creating computer systems, helping senior citizens, teaching English, and ministering to the sick.
Encounter Retreats and the Fellowship Bible Institute
Encounter Ministries hosts separate weekend retreats for men and women, designed to help participants grow as godly leaders rooted in biblical truth. Men's Encounter focuses on leading with strength and integrity at home, in church, and in the community. Women's Encounter creates space for women to grow spiritually and connect deeply with God through biblical teaching, reflection, and community. Both retreats emphasize being rooted in the Word and equipped to serve as guiding lights within families, pillars in churches, and influential leaders in communities.
The Fellowship Bible Institute offers college-level instruction on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, taught by qualified instructors from the local community. Director Don Pedde holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies and more than 40 years of experience in college-level instruction and church ministry. A partnership with Kairos University gives interested students a path toward an accredited degree while staying connected to the church's learning resources, with students meeting their faculty mentor monthly and their mentor team quarterly.
Alpha, Baptism, and Membership
Alpha is a relaxed and welcoming experience for anyone curious about the basics of the Christian faith. Sessions include short videos, honest conversation, and a safe space to ask hard questions, making it a common first step for those considering what following Jesus means.
Baptism is described as an outward expression of an inward decision to follow Jesus, a step of obedience that symbolizes new life in Christ and identification with His church. Membership at Fellowship Chapel is more than attending services; it involves committing to grow in faith, serve others, and live out the mission of the church together, and begins with attending a Membership Class.
A Statement of Faith
The Statement of Faith holds the Bible as God's Word, given by divine inspiration, trustworthy and without error, the supreme authority for doctrine and conduct. God exists eternally in three coequal persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, acting together in creation, providence, and redemption. Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died as an atoning sacrifice, rose bodily, ascended into heaven, and now reigns over all creation while interceding for believers. The Holy Spirit inspired Scripture, convicts of sin, regenerates believers, indwells and seals them, gives spiritual gifts, and produces the fruit of Christ-likeness.
Salvation is offered as a free gift and received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. The Church is the body of which Christ is the head, with baptism and the Lord's Supper as its ordinances; baptism is by immersion. Church government is congregational, and local churches form associations and a conference for mutual counsel and fellowship. The statement also affirms religious liberty, the family as the basic unit of society, and the certain hope of Christ's return, when the dead in Christ shall be raised and Christ will judge mankind in righteousness.
