Crossroads Community Church sits on NE 78th Street in Vancouver, Washington, a quiet stretch of Clark County that, on Sunday mornings, fills up fast as a steady stream of cars pulls into the campus. Three identical worship services roll through the Sanctuary Building at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:30 AM, and a parallel stream is happening online at live.crossroadschurch.net. The church's motto, stamped across the front of its site and repeated in its own welcome materials, is simple: Simply Responding To Jesus.
Fifty Years of Family
Crossroads is older than many of the people walking its halls. The story begins in 1972, when founding pastor Bill Ritchie loaded up his family and moved to what was then a sleepy suburb of Portland. Three years later, in the fall of 1975, he planted Crossroads Community Church with a team of volunteers who wanted their neighbors to meet Jesus. The name came from the leap of faith it took to start. Pastor Bill has said that the call was undeniable: preach the hope of Jesus to Clark County and live out the Gospel as a church family. Five decades later, that mission is still the church's own description of itself - a family of faith made up of thousands of stories of God's redemption, saved by grace, in process, and growing together.
In 2012, Pastor Bill, the Crossroads board, and the leadership team invited Pastor Daniel Fusco to come lead the church through its next season. The vision to preach the truth of Jesus to the community and the world, and to live out the Gospel, has continued under his teaching. Fusco remains the Lead Pastor and the most frequent voice in the message library, which stretches back more than eight years of recorded series.
What Sunday Morning Is Like
Each in-person service runs about an hour and ten minutes. Greeters are stationed to help new arrivals find their way, and the LoveNOW Cafe serves coffee and a bite to eat before and after the gathering. The atmosphere is intentionally come-as-you-are. A typical service opens with contemporary worship led by the Worship Arts team and continues with a teaching that the church describes as relevant and encouraging. The worship songs range from ancient hymns to the latest choruses; many are written by artists within the church, and musicians in the congregation are encouraged to grow in songwriting and musicianship.
Before and after the service, the Family Room - also home to the baptismal, known as the Family Room Fountain - is the gathering place where people connect and build community. Three service times give families flexibility to attend around sports, work shifts, and the rhythms of a busy week.
Crossroads Kids and Students
Children are cared for from birth through fifth grade during every Sunday service. The nursery serves infants through age two. Crossroads Kids, for ages three through fifth grade, is a full worship experience of its own with games, Bible stories, activities, and an age-appropriate curriculum that encourages kids to engage in worship and make friends. At 9:30 AM, a separate class called Bible Buddies serves children who benefit from a lower-stimulation environment, designed as a sensory-inclusive space. Children eight to thirteen can apply to the Leaders In Training (LIT) program to assist in various areas of Kids Ministry. Safety is a stated priority, and first-time visitors are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to complete a one-time registration. The Church Center app speeds up check-in on subsequent Sundays.
Crossroads Students, for sixth through twelfth graders, meets in the Auditorium at 9:30 and 11:30 AM on Sundays and again at 7 PM on Wednesday nights. Services include worship, a message from the Word, and small group time. Wednesday nights across the campus follow a similar pattern for younger children, whose programming frees parents to attend an adult Crossroads Group at the same hour.
LoveNOW: Where the Church Goes Beyond Its Walls
If a single word captures what Crossroads does outside its Sunday services, it is LoveNOW. The outreach ministry is the operational expression of the church's mission - simply responding to Jesus by meeting people in their place of pain locally, nationally, and globally, and sharing His love through acts of service.
Locally, LoveNOW organizes a monthly Second Saturday where volunteers of all ages meet at the church and then fan out to serve partners such as Cloth+Foster, Heritage Farm, Streetlight Outreach, Options 360, Ritz Family Ranch, Vida's Ark, and Walnut Grove Elementary. The Pack-A-Snack Program runs each week in the Admin Building, packing snacks for kids facing food insecurity across Clark County. Operation Nourish focuses on creating food security in the county through a network of partner projects. A Jazz Benefit Concert with the Daniel Fusco Trio supports this work.
Nationally, LoveNOW partners with churches and organizations such as Samaritan's Purse, providing disaster relief and community support where it's needed most.
Globally, Crossroads sends teams to Hermosillo, Mexico, where it has partnered for nearly thirty years with Iglesia Ancla and with Calvary Chapel churches in the rural coastal regions. Teams also travel to Japan as part of a longer vision to reach that part of the world. Beyond short-term trips, Crossroads sustains a roster of field workers serving in Mexico, the 10/40 Window, Scotland, and Madagascar - including translators, church planters, educators, and medical volunteers with organizations such as Frontiers, InnerCHANGE, Mercy Ships, and Bible Translators.
Groups for Every Stage of Life
Crossroads builds much of its discipleship around small groups. On-campus groups meet during the Fall Groups season in a coordinated schedule: Men's PM and Women's PM on Wednesday nights at 7 PM, Women's AM on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 AM, Kids and Students at 7 PM on Wednesdays, Young Adults on Tuesday evenings at 7 PM, and a LoveNOW GO Class on Wednesdays. Off-campus and online groups meet at various times throughout the week, and Christianity 101 groups are designed for those exploring the basics of the faith.
Crossroads Men, led by Pastor Aram Babasin, gathers on Wednesday nights at 7 PM in the Sanctuary for fellowship, worship, teaching, and small group breakout time. Crossroads Women, led by Pastor Amira Onuoha, meets Tuesday mornings at 9:30 AM in the Chapel, Tuesday evenings at 6 PM online, and Wednesday nights at 7 PM in the Sanctuary for time in the Word, worship, and small groups. Young Adults, led by Pastor Tristan Norris, is built around 18 to 30 year-olds learning to discern the voice and will of God, holding one another accountable, and welcoming people from any background with their full questions.
Crossroads Care
The Care Ministry exists to come alongside people through life's hardest moments. Care Pastor Johnnie Pesacreta and a team of chaplains and care leaders respond to requests through a Care Request Form and offer a Mental Health Referral Form for those seeking professional help. Three ongoing support ministries meet on campus: DivorceCare for those navigating the end of a marriage, GriefShare for those who have lost a loved one, and a Caregiver Support group.
On Thursday nights at 7 PM in the Auditorium, Celebrate Recovery - led by Service Pastor Travis Parker - offers a Christ-centered path for anyone dealing with hurt, pain, or addiction of any kind. The program is open to the wider community regardless of church background.
A House of Prayer
Prayer is woven through the life of the church. Pre-service prayer gathers at 7:15 AM each Sunday to lift up the services and ministries of the day. Prayer360 coordinates around-the-clock prayer through weekly prompts that cover the church, the city, the nation, and the world. On the third Thursday of each month at 9 AM, the church gathers for a Monthly Prayer Meeting in the Reach Center on the south side of the Family Room - an intentionally welcoming, non-intimidating space where anyone can come pray, receive prayer, or simply be present. A separate monthly gathering called Intercede for the Nations meets online on the third Thursday, focusing on an unreached nation with a guest host each month.
A Prayer Wall on the church's site shares requests from the community, and a dedicated prayer team lifts up each submission. Crossroads also publishes a Crossroads Prayer and Fast Devotional podcast with daily reflections on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
New Believers, Baptism, and Child Dedication
Those who have recently given their life to Christ are welcomed through a three-step pathway: sharing the decision with the church so that pastors can follow up with resources (including a Bible if needed); joining a Transformed Group designed for new believers; and learning about baptism. Baptisms are held several times a year and take place in the Family Room Fountain, with pastors in the water praying with each person, laying hands behind them, and helping them below the surface. The church sends a certificate afterward and encourages whole families to be baptized together, with the requirement that children under eight speak with a pastor first and that each person complete a virtual baptism class individually.
Child Dedications are scheduled for parents of children from birth through age eight, recognizing dependence on God in raising kids who will know the love of Jesus. Discover Crossroads, a class held periodically for newcomers, walks through the church's mission, vision, and values and offers practical next steps for getting connected.
Worship Arts, Giving, and the Crossroads App
The Worship Arts ministry, led by Worship Pastor Mikey Moore, builds the music that frames Sunday services and welcomes musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers to grow in their craft. Songs range from ancient hymns to the latest choruses, and the church actively develops songwriters and artists from within.
Giving is described by the church as cheerful, generous, and a way to simply respond to Jesus. Gifts support the ministries of the church and the work of LoveNOW. Online giving runs through PushPay, and text-to-give is available by texting CCCVAN to 77977 for the Vancouver campus or CCCONLINE to 77977 for online giving. Other giving channels include asset-based giving, stock and mutual fund transfers, estate planning seminars, and AmazonSmile. Crossroads Community Church is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with Tax ID 91-0949794.
The Crossroads App, available through Subsplash, integrates the message library, daily Bible reading plan, prayer and fast devotionals, events calendar, and giving. The church also publishes a podcast of weekly messages on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and streams Jesus Is Real Radio through a partnership with danielfusco.com.
Daily Bible Reading and Fasting
An annual Daily Bible Reading Plan walks the church through Scripture together, available as a PDF download or through the Crossroads App. Teaching on prayer and fasting frames fasting as a spiritual discipline for setting oneself apart to seek God - choosing what to give up and, more importantly, what to fill that space with. The Crossroads Prayer and Fast Devotional podcast offers daily companions through the seasons the church fasts together.
