Cornerstone Bible Fellowship sits on Warden Road in Sherwood, Arkansas, where a couple of hundred people gather each Sunday to sing, pray, and study Scripture together. Cornerstone is a non-denominational, Bible church where about 375 people meet each week, and its motto is "To Know Jesus and Make Him Known." With two Sunday morning services, a full slate of children's and student programs, and a network of more than fifteen LifeGroups launching on a four-month rhythm, Cornerstone offers plenty of ways to get connected within walking distance of one of central Arkansas's busiest suburbs.
Sunday Mornings at the Corner of Warden Road
Cornerstone holds two identical-style worship services on Sunday: one at 9:00 AM and another at 10:30 AM. Both include worship through song, prayer, and a Bible-based sermon, and each runs roughly an hour. The atmosphere is casual. Visitors will see people in everything from jeans to dresses, and greeters meet cars in the parking lot to help with directions. A coffee bar is available before and after the service, and the church encourages newcomers to stick around and meet people.
Children are folded into the Sunday rhythm in age-appropriate ways. At the 9:00 AM service, preschool classes (birth through Pre-K) meet in the main building at Entrance B; at the 10:30 AM service, classes for kindergarten through fifth grade are added at Entrance A alongside the preschool rooms. All children must be checked in before being dropped off, and any volunteer wearing a lanyard can answer questions.
For those who cannot attend in person, the 10:30 AM service is livestreamed on YouTube every Sunday morning. A separate worship guide PDF is posted online to help online viewers follow along.
LifeGroups: The Heart of Community
Cornerstone's adult small-group program is where deep community happens. Every four months, the church launches fifteen or more LifeGroups dedicated to studying the Bible, praying together, fellowshipping, serving, and holding each other accountable. Groups meet on different days and at different times (Sunday mornings, Sunday afternoons, weekday evenings) to fit a wide variety of schedules.
Current offerings include groups studying the Epistles of John, 1 & 2 Peter, Ezekiel, the Parables, Colossians, Revelation, Spiritual Disciplines, and a sermon-review group that processes the previous Sunday's message. A "Practicing the Way" group and a "Spiritual Formation" group round out the rotation. Women's groups and men's groups meet on their own rhythms: women can join studies on Joshua, Ephesians, or "Take Courage," while men can join "Every Man a Warrior" on Sunday mornings or a Thursday morning men's group. A monthly women's gathering called Table Talk centers on a shared meal and a devotional.
Kids, Students, and Wednesday Nights
Wednesday evenings are built around the next generation. From August through May, Cornerstone Kids meets from 6:30 to 8:00 PM for kindergarteners through fifth graders, with singing, crafts, games, and a Bible lesson. At the same time, ONE Student Ministry gathers students in sixth through twelfth grades. Glow Nights, Thanksgiving parties, and a Jesus's Birthday Party are scattered across the school year as special events for kids.
For younger families, Cornerstone also hosts a twice-monthly Mom's Prayer Playgroup on Monday mornings in the preschool hallway, giving young mothers a place to share prayer requests, walk in friendship, and let the kids play. Two scouting-style programs round out the children's lineup: American Heritage Girls, a faith-based character development program for girls that meets on the second and fourth Mondays of the month, and Trail Life Troop AR-1711, a Christian scouting organization for boys focused on outdoor adventure and character.
Women's Ministry, Men's Ministry, and the Gym
Cornerstone's Women's Ministry is built around weekly Bible studies, monthly gatherings, and a fitness program called Body and Soul that meets twice a week in the church's Big Room, blending physical exercise with spiritual encouragement. The GUM Girls ("God Use Me"), founded in 2018, is a community for single, divorced, and widowed women that meets monthly for fellowship, prayer, and connection. Members currently range in age from 28 to over 91.
The Men's Ministry offers weekly Bible studies and a Wednesday morning prayer gathering at 6:00 AM in the worship center, where men meet for a devotional and pray over the church's prayer requests. An annual chili cook-off in the Gathering Hall kicks off each ministry year and is open to men of all ages. The ministry points to 2 Timothy 3:16-17 as its anchor verse: "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."
Missions: From Sherwood to Japan and Beyond
Cornerstone takes seriously the call to "make Him known" beyond its own walls. The church partners with two foreign missionary families: Yusei and Kaycee Matsutomo, who serve in Japan by building relationships through low-pressure gatherings that include crafting, sewing, cooking, English, and digital design; and Ben and Ashley Van Scyoc, who serve in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where they lead a Wednesday discipleship gathering for around 130 third-culture and expatriate students, develop a contemplative prayer app, work on an open-source Thai Bible translation, and host young adults and fellow missionaries in their home.
On the home front, Cornerstone partners with several local organizations: STEP Ministries, a youth mentoring program Cornerstone helped start; Union Rescue Mission, which provides refuge and recovery through the Nehemiah House for men and Dorcas House for women; The CALL, a foster-care and adoption ministry working toward "no waiting children in foster care in Arkansas"; Immerse, which surrounds youth in crisis with unconditional relationships; Deeper Still, which offers retreats for those healing from abortion; the Little Rock Compassion Center, an inner-city mission for those experiencing homelessness and hunger; International Friendship Outreach, which helps international students adjust to central Arkansas; and Angel's Choice Haven, which provides temporary housing for expectant mothers during the adoption process.
Every year, ONE Student Ministry leads a mission trip to South Dakota to serve alongside the Lakota Native American tribe, and a team travels to Belize to continue the church's relationship with WGO and partner churches there.
The Connection: A Capital Vision
Cornerstone's campus includes two separate buildings, and for years guests and parents have found the layout confusing, especially families with children in both preschool and elementary classes who end up splitting between the two structures. In response, the elders launched a capital campaign called The Connection, with a goal of $1.1 million. The first phase centers on connecting the two buildings, moving the preschool into the north building and the church offices into the south building, and adding dedicated LifeGroup classrooms and a working kitchen. Prayer Sundays, small-group presentations, and a Commitment Sunday walk the congregation through the campaign step by step.
What Cornerstone Believes
Cornerstone's doctrinal statement, available as a PDF, anchors the church in the authority of Scripture and the centrality of Jesus Christ. LifeGroups are designed around Bible study, prayer, and accountability, and the church's stated core value is to create a community of people helping each other become who God created them to be. A complete doctrinal statement, Bible reading plan, and FAQs are posted for members to download.
A 24-Hour Prayer Room and Other Rhythms
Prayer is woven throughout the life of the church. A 24-hour prayer room is available by sign-up, set up as a quiet refuge with prayer stations, maps, and post-it notes for those who want to spend time with the Lord. A weekly Wednesday morning men's prayer gathering meets at 6:00 AM in the worship center, and prayer is central to every phase of The Connection capital campaign. A prayer request form lets anyone submit confidential requests to the staff.
