About Casa View Assembly of God

A Pentecostal Anchor on Ferguson Road

Casa View Assembly of God has been gathering for worship on Ferguson Road in east Dallas since the mid-1950s, and the congregation that fills the sanctuary today is the continuation of a small church plant that started seven decades ago in a rented hall nearby. The address, 9949 Ferguson Road in the 75228 ZIP code, sits just across the street from Tenison Park, and that proximity is more than coincidence. It was in a building near the park that Rev. A.J. Pope and Rev. Fred A. Williams held the first services of what was then called Glad Tidings Church.

From Glad Tidings at Tenison Park to Casa View on Ferguson

The founders planted Glad Tidings in the summer of 1953. A used building was purchased and moved onto the Ferguson Road property in March of 1954, and the work of renovation kept the small congregation busy for a year and a half. The building was completed and dedicated in the fall of 1955, and by 1956 the congregation voted to rename itself after the surrounding neighborhood, becoming Casa View Assembly of God. The church has stayed at the same location ever since.

Dr. Marcus Alexander has been the lead pastor of Casa View since 1997, a tenure that now spans almost three decades. Under his leadership the church has grown its ministry to children, students, adults, and a Spanish-speaking congregation that gathers alongside the English services.

Sunday Mornings at 10:30

Sunday is the heartbeat of Casa View's calendar. Adult Sunday School classes meet at 9:30 AM across the campus, and the doors open for the main worship service at 10:30 AM. The service is also livestreamed online, so members and guests across the Dallas area and beyond can join through the church's YouTube channel.

Music at Casa View is led by Worship Pastor Artie Hass, who also directs the congregation's choir. Services focus on worship and biblical teaching, and the church's mission statement summarizes the goal in four short phrases: Love God, Love People, Help People, Share God.

CVAKIDS, Missionettes, and Royal Rangers

Casa View takes its children's ministry seriously enough to staff a fully outfitted Sunday nursery for the youngest visitors and a range of programs for older children. The CVAKIDS program for kindergarten through sixth grade meets during the 10:30 AM Sunday service, and CVAKIDS Jr. offers a separate, age-appropriate class for three- and four-year-olds at the same hour. The nursery is staffed for children from birth through two years old.

On Wednesday evenings at 6:00 PM the children's programming shifts into two long-standing Assemblies of God ministries. Missionettes Girls Club introduces girls to Jesus Christ through a nationwide program that pairs a theme-focused curriculum with games, outings, crafts, and Bible discussion. Royal Rangers, for young men ages five and older, teaches camping skills, life-saving techniques, and a working knowledge of how to read the Bible and pray.

Annaliese McCord serves as the Children's and Media Ministry Director, coordinating both the Sunday morning and Wednesday evening children's programs.

Casa View Youth and the Woman at the Well

The youth ministry at Casa View draws its imagery from John 4, the encounter between Jesus and the woman at Jacob's Well. The youth ministry identifies itself as Casa View Youth Ministries, with its own Facebook and Instagram presence under the name The Well Youth Ministry. The vision is to draw students to living water and to raise up a generation who Love God, Love People, Help People, and Share God.

Sunday School for students meets at 9:30 AM, and a dedicated youth service gathers on Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM. The evening service includes worship, a teaching time, and what the ministry describes as an engaging time with the Holy Spirit. The youth ministry lists six core values: Spirit Interrupted, Jesus Apprenticed, Burdened Believers, Passionately Prayerful, Generous Givers, and Live Joyfully.

Jonathan Littrell leads the youth ministry as Youth Pastor.

Sunday School, R3, and Bible Study for Adults

Adults at Casa View gather for Sunday School at 9:30 AM before the main service. The church offers age-appropriate classes for adults of every season of life, taught by teachers the ministry describes as passionate and caring. The main 10:30 AM service brings the adults together with the rest of the congregation for corporate worship.

Wednesday nights belong to deeper study. Adult Bible Study meets at 6:00 PM in the Chapel, working through themed studies such as Living as an Overcomer. R3 Women's Ministry serves women of every age, with regular meetings and events posted to the church calendar. Each year R3 organizes Thanksgiving baskets for neighbors who need extra help around the holiday season, and the ministry also supports the kids' program as it raises money and supplies for Pleasant Hills, the Assemblies of God children's home.

Adults over 50 gather under the name Jubilee, a fellowship that hosts its own events and get-togethers throughout the year.

En Espanol

Casa View's Spanish-language ministry meets alongside the English services and reaches out to Spanish-speaking neighbors across east Dallas. The Spanish service runs at 11:00 AM on Sunday, with Sunday School at 9:30 AM. A midweek service gathers on Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM, and Saturday mornings include a prayer gathering at 9:00 AM. The Spanish ministry also livestreams its services on Facebook.

Carlos Santana serves as the Spanish Pastor.

What Casa View Believes

Casa View holds to the classic Assemblies of God doctrinal distinctives. The church's statement of faith affirms that the Scriptures are inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind, and that there is one true God revealed in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The congregation confesses the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, both human and divine.

The church teaches that, although man was originally good, the fall into sin brought evil and death into the world, and that every person can have restored fellowship with God through salvation, by trusting Christ as personal Savior through faith and repentance. Two ordinances are practiced: water baptism by immersion after salvation, and Holy Communion as a symbolic remembrance of Christ's suffering and death.

The baptism in the Holy Spirit is taught as a special experience following salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service. The initial physical evidence of this baptism, as on the Day of Pentecost, is speaking in tongues.

Pastors and Ministry Directors

Dr. Marcus Alexander, the lead pastor, came to Casa View in 1997. A graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God College and the Assemblies of God Graduate School, he also earned a Master of Religious Education and a Doctor of Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Before coming to Casa View he served as a youth and music pastor, an associate pastor, a college professor and administrator, an elementary Christian school administrator, and a church business administrator.

Artie Hass has served as the church's worship pastor and choir director. Before entering ministry he owned and operated Westside Barber Shop and taught in Garland ISD. Jonathan Littrell joined Casa View after serving as a children's and youth pastor in North Dallas and teaching at a Bible school near the Texas-Mexico border. Annaliese McCord directs the children's ministry and brings experience working with kids and families in Dallas and Arkansas. Carlos Santana oversees the Spanish-language ministry.
