Calvary Tabernacle meets out of a building called the Harvest Training Center on Myrtle Street in Cranford, New Jersey. The church's stated vision is short and direct: "Living for God, and loving like God." That phrase anchors everything from Sunday worship to midweek ministry, and it shapes the way members are encouraged to serve their neighbors throughout Union County and the Greater NYC area.
A House of Prayer, Training, and Mercy
The church describes its mission in three words. First, it aims to be a house of prayer, a place where believers come to encounter the living God and where His presence dwells. Second, it is a house of training, committed to discipling and equipping believers for the work God has called them to. Third, it is a house of mercy, because the people have been rescued by the grace of Jesus Christ and consider it their duty to pour out that same mercy on others through support, outreach, and missions.
Calvary Tabernacle calls itself a "Kingdom Minded" ministry, working in cooperation with other churches and ministries across the Greater NYC area rather than operating in isolation.
Sunday Mornings at the Harvest Training Center
The weekly worship service gathers at 10:00 AM at 69 Myrtle Street in Cranford. Teaching and music are led by Lead Pastor Clem Salerno and his wife Connie Salerno. For those who cannot attend in person, services are livestreamed on the church's YouTube channel, and past services remain available to watch anytime. New visitors and regulars alike can stay connected through Church Center, the church's online hub for events, registrations, and online giving.
Nine Core Beliefs
Calvary Tabernacle holds to nine stated core beliefs that set the doctrinal tone of the church. Members affirm that the sixty-six books of the Bible are the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the final authority for belief and life. They believe in one true God existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in deity, power, and glory.
The church teaches that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, who lived a sinless life and offered Himself as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners. Salvation, in their view, is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. They also believe that the Lord Jesus Christ baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit, that the gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament are still active today, and that signs and wonders continue to testify to God's power.
Calvary Tabernacle teaches that it is God's primary instrument for fulfilling His redemptive purposes on earth. Calvary Tabernacle teaches that women are called and gifted to proclaim the Gospel and do the works of the Kingdom, and that the Church is charged with preaching the Gospel to all nations while remembering the poor through sacrificial giving and practical service.
Ministries for Every Stage
The church runs five ongoing ministries covering every stage of life. The Kids Ministry, led by Arielle Mulligan, serves children ages two through five and students in first through fifth grade. The Youth Ministry, led by Anthony Salerno, walks with students in grades six through twelve. A Young Adults Ministry, also led by Anthony Salerno, gathers adults roughly eighteen to thirty.
Connie Salerno leads the Women's Ministry for women eighteen and older, and Patrick Coleman leads the Men's Ministry for men in the same age range.
Staying Connected Throughout the Week
Beyond Sunday mornings, Calvary Tabernacle keeps its people in touch through a few steady channels. Church Center handles event registration and online giving. The YouTube channel carries livestreams and a library of teaching content. The church also maintains a presence on Facebook and Instagram, where updates and community life are shared throughout the week.
