Sunday Worship in Bratt
First Baptist Church of Bratt gathers at 4570 County Road 4 in Century, the small Escambia County community that gives the church its name. The Sunday rhythm starts at 9:00am with Sunday School for every age, followed by Morning Worship at 10:15am. Services are livestreamed on Facebook Live, so the congregation reaches the room and the screen at the same moment.
Pastor Greg Sellers leads the church alongside Family Ministry Pastor Wes Bates, and the staff team welcomes visitors with the words, "Let us bless you!"
Wednesday Nights: Hang-Time and Prayer
Wednesday belongs to the younger crowd and to anyone who wants to dig into the Bible. Youth Hang-Time opens at 6:00pm for students in grades 7 through 12, and at 6:30pm the whole church reconvenes for prayer meeting and classes for all ages. The midweek schedule turns one evening into both a fellowship hour and a Bible study hour.
Generations at Every Age
The church lines up its ministries with the life stages of a rural Florida community. Children's Ministry serves first through sixth graders, while students in grades 7 through 12 gather as the Lifesong youth group. Senior adults belong to the Golden Bratts, a group that meets several times a month to sing, share a meal, and fellowship. A College and Career ministry walks with adults in their working and college years, and a children's nursery gives the youngest ones a seat at the table during worship. A Bible study ministry offers another steady way for members to dig into Scripture together.
Women on Missions and the Great Commission
The women's ministry runs on the Women on Missions tradition, the church's local arm of Woman's Missionary Union work. The WOM leads the church's missions education, sponsors Missions Friends along with Girls in Action and Royal Ambassadors, and sets offering goals for the year. Ladies who want to learn more sit in on the WOM's summer meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:00am, or talk with Sheila Trawick about joining in.
The missions heartbeat reaches far beyond Century through Operation Christmas Child, the Samaritan's Purse program. Each year, the church collects items, packs shoeboxes, and ships them to children around the world, sharing the Christmas story where it might not otherwise be heard.
Brotherhood Breakfast and a Lifeway Survey
On the first Sunday of every month, the Brotherhood gathers for breakfast at 6:30am in the Life Center, an early table that pairs a meal with a meeting. The Golden Bratts sing together several times a month, and the children's and youth teams train throughout the week.
For anyone curious about their own place in the work, the church points to an 80-question Spiritual Gifts Survey from Lifeway. The survey helps members name what they bring to the body and find a ministry that fits.
First Baptist Church of Bratt continues to live out the Great Commission in its corner of Escambia County, one Sunday at a time, one shoebox at a time, and one prayer meeting at a time.
