A Family Church on North Big Spring Street
Bellview Baptist Church sits at 1710 North Big Spring Street in Midland, Texas, where it has built its ministry around a single conviction: that "becoming who we were created to be in Christ changes who we are in the world." That motto frames everything from Sunday worship to children's Sunday School, and it gives the church a clear identity as a Southern Baptist congregation committed to equipping families to fulfill their purpose in Christ. The church aligns itself with the Baptist Faith and Message.
The Four Movements: Believe, Belong, Become, Build
The church describes its discipleship in four overlapping movements. BELIEVE points to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the foundation of the Christian life and the source of salvation, strength, and satisfaction. BELONG emphasizes that following Jesus is not a solo venture but one shared with a family of believers who apply the truth of God's Word together through disciplines and relationships. BECOME calls believers to live boldly for God's glory, pursuing a life transformed by Jesus, His Word, and the Holy Spirit. BUILD brings it all together: as people become who they were created to be, they build the Kingdom of God together. The same four words frame the church's connect pathway, walking newcomers from a first profession of faith through baptism and membership to discovering and using their gifts to serve.
A Sunday at Bellview
The weekly rhythm begins on Sunday morning. Sunday Worship gathers at 10 a.m. with live music and teaching. Children's Church for first through sixth graders runs at the same hour, so families can attend the worship service together while their children have their own program. At 11 a.m. the building fills with Sunday School classes for every stage: nursery through sixth grade in the children's wing, seventh through twelfth grade in the youth wing, and college through senior adults in the adult department. The result is a Sunday where worship, teaching, and small-group community happen in sequence for the whole household.
Wednesday Nights Around the Building
Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. are when the church's midweek programs come alive. Adult choir rehearsal begins at 6 p.m., followed at 6:30 p.m. by youth small groups for guys and girls in grades 7 through 12 and by AWANA's "Children in Action" (CA) program for ages three through sixth grade. The praise band gathers at 7 p.m., rehearsing the blended style of music the church says "provides something for everyone." A single Wednesday can move a family from choir to youth small group, from AWANA games to a band practice, all without leaving the building.
Children from Nursery Through Sixth Grade
Children's ministry is coordinated by Cassie Gilbert and built on the idea that parents are the primary disciplers of their kids. The nursery, for birth through age two, is open during every scheduled activity and staffed by volunteers who work with parents on any food allergies. Children's Church at 10 a.m. on Sundays ties prayer, praise, worship, creative lessons, crafts, and Scripture-based music to a weekly Bible passage, helping kids apply what they learn in Sunday School. Sunday School at 11 a.m. is age-graded from two years old through sixth grade. On Wednesdays, the CA program walks children through Bible study and missions projects while they "travel" virtually to places around the world to pray for missionaries. Detailed children's and youth policies and procedures are available as downloadable PDFs.
Students in Grades 7 Through 12
The youth ministry meets students where they are. Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. are geared toward a genuine youth worship experience with live music, teaching, games, and object lessons, all aimed at showing students how to think about biblical truth rather than just what to think. Wednesday small groups at 6:30 p.m. split into Guys and Girls groups, giving seventh through twelfth graders a safe place to wrestle with challenges unique to their age and gender and to build a network of accountability and encouragement the church says will last a lifetime.
A Blended Approach to Worship Music
Music ministry is led by Worship Pastor Jared Reiff. The choir, open to high school through senior adults, rehearses Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and leads worship on Sunday mornings and at special presentations. The praise band, also open from high school through senior adults, rehearses Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and brings a blended worship style the church describes as eclectic and open to many kinds of music. For senior adults, the BBC Club Singers meet Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and travel to local nursing homes the first three Tuesdays of every month to make a joyful noise with residents. No singing ability is required.
Men, Women, and the Seasons of Adult Life
Adult Sunday School at 11 a.m. gathers college-age through senior adults into life-stage groups using Bible-centered curriculum, with a focus on growing in wisdom and sustaining meaningful relationships. Women's ministry creates community among women of every season, encouraging them as partners alongside their husbands and as members of a godly community. Men's ministry calls men to lead their families and the church well, rising above what the church describes as the "devastating lies" of the wider culture to walk faithfully with God. Both men's and women's groups are seasonal, with details available through the church office.
